Seem's like Cybercat has really taken over mod PR lately. Good to know we have an open line of communication with the team again. Fell off there for a while.

I've learned not to anticipate dates with these kinds of things, but if you know, what is the biggest delay with updating right now?

Are there specific 1.12 code changes that are making the transfer slow?

In addition, what's the status of the Covenant update? Is it experiencing any programming issues as well, or are you just waiting for the 1.12 port to be released?

    =Welcome!!!=

Hello! My name is Taryn, and I am the operator of the Warring Nations server, a perma-OP whitelisted creative mega-factions server, where the player is put in the shoes of God, to create a nation of their choosing. The server is a neo-roleplay environment, where players can create and interact with each other in custom scenarios, all playing a part in the larger story. Go to war, establish an empire, wield powerful magic, discover new technologies... the world is yours to create.

We run on a modded forge 1.10.2 client. Though our mod list is not yet finished, it currently includes titles such as :

    BiomesOPlenty

    Crayfish's Furniture Mod

    DrZhark's Mo'creatures

    Portalgun

    Pam's Harvestcraft

    CustomNPCs

    Weather2

    Quark

    and more to come!

    Rules and Limitations?

As WN is still fairly small, we expect all our players to be kind and cooperative with each other, and obey the few rules we have in place. Generally speaking, these rules are fairly serious and could result in a permanent ban should you break them, due to the consequences they have on the future of the game, the map, and other players.

1: Building on another player's territory without their permission, or the permission of a server operator will get you banned. This includes using worldedit to grief or damage the general map.

2 : Creating large redstone features, mob farms, automated systems, or other features on your territory, which lag or break the server in some way, could result in a warning and the feature being removed by an admin. We want all players to have fun, and we can't do that if you reduce our server to a potato.

3 : Prematurely invading (declaring war or attacking another player's faction without informing them or an admin at least 24 hours prior) can result in a warning or ban. The server is partially a creative roleplay server, thus, we can't tolerate God-moding like that.

4 : Don't excessively be a jerk to other players. We're all here to enjoy the game, and while sometimes a little snobbishness makes for a good roleplay, turning that into a drama situation could result in admin intervention.

5 : Separate out of character from in character. This is all in good fun, so while antagonizing the local governor may be fun, specifically trying to tick off another player is not.

6 : Don't use real world slurs. This is a science fantasy setting, so be creative with your in-character name calling, but don't do it specifically to offend the real-world player.

    How do I join?

While WN has been operational for some time, this is the first time we're allowing players from the general public to join. As such, we have fairly high entry level expectations. A builder position on WN comes with access to Worldedit, and thus, is essentially an admin position. Fill out the following application (example below) with your information and post it to this thread, or send it to me via pm. If your application is accepted, you will be notified within 1-3 days.

Hmm. It seems to be something on Custom NPCS end. At first, I thought it might've been a problem with your minimap crashing as it might of not knownwhat icon to assign the npc.

Anyway, i'll take it up with noppes on the CNPCS discord. Good spot for stuff like this.

Hmm... well, it's good that Noppes will become aware, but if this is a bug with NPCs, is there anything I can / should do on my end? For example, seeing as he's working on 1.11 and higher now, would he release a backport update to fix this? Has he done so in the past? Because updating the server after getting all of this set up will be a nightmare...

So I have used the 1.7.10 version for over a year now on my server and then about 2 months ago all of a sudden the URL links no longer work no matter what I do. Then I tried to add the skin files to the jar folder (following a tutorial on YT) and it just gave me broken textures. Can anyone help me at all? My server is based around these NPCs as it is an RP server with quests (well I mean the server is shut down atm but we are wanting it to come back up). Anyone else having this issue? Anyone know how to get the files to work in the Jar or the urls to work. Upgrading to a newer version is not an option as the majority of the mods I use are not upgraded past 1.7.10 and I don't want to lose my core mods. Please someone, anyone help me!

Referring to the skin urls, are the urls using 1.7 skins instead of 1.8 skins? There is a similar error in 1.8 when you try and use a 1.7 skin on an npc. it's possible that you need to use 1.8 skins on them.

Your note about broken textures leads me to believe that you're using the wrong type of skin texture on them, or perhaps it's formatted improperly.

    I have a few questions...

1, Does it happen directly after the NPC is spawned? (Assuming yes. Just checking, though.)

2, Is the NPC standing on or in any modded blocks or liquids, And if yes, what? (Probably won't effect anything.)

3, Are any Ichun Portals visible?

4, Are the NPCS visible on your minimap when you spawn them?

5, does it happen on single player as well as on the server?

1 : Essentially, yes. It has something to do with the client loading the npc, as the crash occurs either when an npc is first created, or when a player logs into an unloaded chunk where npcs are already present.
2 : It varies. We're using biomes o plenty, so they could be standing on practically anything. Grass, modded grass, ash, etc.
3 : No, there are not.
    4 : Yes, they are.
5 : No, it does not. In fact, it seems as though singleplayer corrects the issue, as following the crash, if a player logs into singleplayer and spawns an npc, they can then approach or spawn near an npc on the server without issue. Though obviously, I would prefer to fix the issue itself rather than use this method.

I don't normally do this, but I got a crash report. Figured I'd post it here, since that's what everyone else is doing.

I am having an occassional crash on my forge 1.10.2 modded server when a player spawns an npc.The server continues to run with no issues when the npc is spawned. All players who cannot directly view the npc do not crash, however the player who spawned the npc, and any players close enough nearby, may or may not crash. It's making map development a really, really painful process.

I have a few other mods installed :

    AutoRegLib-1.0.2

posted a message on Warring Nations Project : Open Beta

Due to popular request, I have come to detail a few more things not mentioned in the main post, as I viewed them as somewhat trivial.

We have a maximum player limit of 20, of which 8/20 slots are already filled.

This season is sci-fi fantasy themed, so you can effectively build your nation in any era you'd like.

    We're still accepting applications!

posted a message on Warring Nations Project : Open Beta

Hello! A brief introduction, my name is Taryn. I am the operator of a modded mini server of sorts, known only as the Warring Nations Project.

What is the Warring Nations Project?

Warring Nations is a sort of mega factions server. You, the player, essentially play God, ruling over a totally custom made faction. The server is often compared to games such as Stellaris, Clash of Clans, Civilization, or Total War. You are locked in creative mode and given access to one of the largest selections of blocks compared to most modded servers, as well as powerful tools such as worldedit. Each player is assigned to one island on a 16000x16000 map, the size of which can vary according to personal preference. On this island, you build your faction's first city, including things you will need such as various resources (mines, farms, etc.) When your faction has reached a large enough size, you may opt to go to war, and attempt to claim another player's island, hence the game's name : the Warring Nations project. Additionally, there will be a skype-based chat where the various players can meet, interact, plan, and help each other.

Warring Nations is played in seasons. Each season continues until only one player controls the entire map. Seasons can last for months, so you are not expected to play daily in order to win. However, be warned, other players may use your absence to advance as well. Warring Nations also makes use of a private modpack containing several mods such as biomes o plenty, arisux's AvP mod, ichun's portalgun mod, the quark mod, etc. All using the 1.10.2 version of Forge. Thus, you will need to know how to use forge in order to play.

1: Building on another player's island without their permission, or the permission of a server operator will get you banned. This includes using worldedit to grief or damage the general map.

2 : Creating large redstone features, mob farms, automated systems, or other features on your island, which lag or break the server in some way, could result in a warning and the feature being removed by an admin.

The server is currently in it's beta. If your application is accepted, you will be notified within 4-7 days.

posted a message on A little Horror Story concept I had

So, as many of you know, with the introduction of 1.8 came the Customized world setting. With this feature, you could modify the games generator code to do amazing new things. I stumbled upon a little thread Here where another forum user had figured out how to revive the beta version of the minecraft world generator.

This got me thinking. Do you remember a few years ago when Herobrine was really popular? I really liked Herobrine, not because he was real by any means, but because minecraft had its own ghost story that the community embraced. Admittedly, it did become tiring after a few years, to the point mojang got in on the story and said they removed him all to stop the panic. Now a few months later, it does seem like the Herobrine hype is really dead, as alot of the community got sick of him, and now he has been confirmed dead entirely.

With the reintroduction of the Beta generator, and my first playing on it in a while, I felt really nostalgic. I remembered the good old days of minecraft, and I remembered Herobrine. This opened up a concept for me that I would love to see someone, perhaps a youtuber or streamer, work with. Remember, I do not think that Herobrine is real, rather I think the idea was a beautiful horror story that got blown out of proportion.

What if someone brought back Herobrine, and made it interesting again? If it was done in a really good, and perhaps even terrifying way?The story for this idea is simple : Herobrine is in the source code. He's in the beta generator, and by using the "old world" you can spawn him in by accident. The key is though, it doesn't NEED to be Herobrine. It can be any horror idea imaginable. Slenderman, a minecraft version of the Rake, you name it. Something dark could exist in this beta generator, and be turned into a really good horror story.

    Thoughts?

ALL textures have to be lowercase -- that includes directory name!!

Worked flawlessly, thanks for the help.

This wasn't the case in prior versions, so why'd that change? (out of curiosity)

posted a message on Custom NPCs

Alright so, it seems I found a bug in the beta version for 1.11.2.

For some reason when i'm using the 1.11.2 version, custom skins are not working. It seems to be a directory issue, as customNPCs no longer loads skins inside of additional folders. (For example, if i want more skins, i drag and drop the new skins folder INTO the directory: assets/textures/entity/humanmale, creating the directory assets/textures/entity/humanmale/(foldername) ) I do this because the game automatically loads with the steve skin, and so i expand my folders starting there for ease of use. In the 1.7, 1.8, and 1.10 versions, this has not been an issue.

For previous versions, this method for adding new skins has worked without flaw, however on the 1.11 version this seems to have changed.

I've been running CustomNPCs for the last two years on my server, and singleplayer. I've never had issues adding skins like this before. From what I can tell, the texture model is still the same... so any ideas?

This is a normal NPC spawned, using the directory above, set to the Steve Texture. Here is the exact same npc, with his skin changed to an added texture. The two textures use the exact same layout.

So, why does Steve show up, but new skins do not?

(Pardon my grammar, english is not my first language)
