    [**** NEW RELEASE! ****]

Version 3.53 of Better Than Wolves is ready for download!

Let's say I'm incredibly addicted to better than buildcraft and wanted to give you money.. how exactly do I do that?

Seriously, it's all I play, I can't get enough! Minecraft isn't a game anymore without my pipe and axle studded castle! I'm just really hitting my stride with combustion engines!

This mod is so very fantastic with a mineral vein mod, I like to use mining wells for exploratory drilling, because wherever I find SOME minerals, I'm guaranteed to find a hell of a lot more if I begin stripping the area clear with a quarry or filler set to clear, then I feed all the ore through my automatic kiln, it's bliss!

Well, I am not exactly the all-seeing, all-dancing, **** of the world :smile.gif:

I disagree. You are awesome, BTW is awesome, BTB is super freaking awesome. It's all so awesome!

I think I'm going to install 2.0, brew up a fresh world, and work my way up to top tier again! This will make playthrough number three, and when I get my bonus you're getting a percentage of it in donation

This mod is even better with RISUGAMI'S Biosphere world generator, for some reason carving my base down into the rock of a floating sky world is immensely satisfying

By default, BTB overrides the BTW config file in terms of HCB. Throw the BTB Config file in there and disable it in that.

Renaming my BTWConfig.txt file to BTBConfig.txt didn't do anything.

Also, you keep using the word 'the' like these files actually exist. I posit that neither file actually exists anywhere in either documentation or physical form and you are all just putting me on.

Are they saved somewhere weird? Can they be downloaded from a link? Are they here or there? Because in my installation no such file was generated, and in fact the only references to it I can find are in the BTW changelog and in the page on the BTW wiki that ostensibly describes how to disable it.

Really though, I give up. I'm going to use MC Edit to provide myself a mountain of obsidian and drag my build out of the epic stall this problem has put me in. I guess I can replace the lava lake, since it's pretty clear that there is nothing useful that can be done with lava.

I recognize the phenomenal amount of work that went into both of these mods individually as well as the work done to integrate the two. My complaint is the complaint of the man who has nine hundred and ninety nine pieces of a thousand piece puzzle.

@tankfox: Having water flowing from an existing source block onto lava isn't that difficult; just cool the top layer, block the water with some dirt and dig around the outsides. rinse/repeat till you think you're safe enough to start mining the stuff and you're done.

When I have tried this in the past I invariably end up having the obsidian, myself, or both fall down into the lava below the surface layer. That is why I prefer removing the lava blocks from the pool and placing them in a separate cooling trough.

I'm really surprised that the piping system is unable to accomplish this for me, it most certainly removes the lava source blocks, but then appears to be unable to use them in a constructive way. I suspect that this is primarily a failing of Buildcraft, but perhaps Better than Buildcraft could provide a lava spout block for this specific purpose! The restriction of the spout being 'water only' seems like a particular arbitrary restriction that really limits their utility.

This game appears to be about the means of manufacture, it's about finding better and more efficient ways of generating large amounts of source materials to allow you to move to successive steps.

Obsidian is one of these materials. I would like my dog kennel area to become a forest of obsidian intake pipes so I stop losing poop, but the Better than Buildcraft mod both specifically require three times as much obsidian per pipe while removing the means to efficiently generate large amounts of it.

So far this is the only major flaw I have seen with Better than Buildcraft, in fact the only other nit-pick I have is that I would prefer an alternative to dung be available, as in my first playthrough I had to cheat up some wolves when they refused to spawn in my world.

@Brethern Yes, that's what the instructions say, and it would be nice if it was true. The only BTWConfig.txt file in my .minecraft folder is the one I created and put there, and the contents of it are cut and pasted directly from the wiki 'fcEnableHardcoreBuckets=0'. I don't get what I'm doing wrong here.

I've tried really hard, but I can't seem to generate harvestable obsidian using Better Than Buildcraft 1.10!

I've finally gotten a pump, and can pump lava around, but I can't seem to do anything with the lava once it's in the pipes. I can fill up a tank, gather buckets of useless Hardcore Bucket lava out of it, but once the lava is in the pipes it won't come back out again or be useable in any way.

My plan was to pump lava out of a lava lake into an obsidian trough and then carry ten buckets of water from a source pool some ways away, but I'm finding this to be a complete waste of time since there's no way to fill up the lava trough.

Is my only way, seriously, to fill up my lava pool with sand until it's one deep, then hit it with a spout? This is insane, I can't work like that and get obsidian at any kind of reasonable rate.

Even worse, creating a config file called BTWConfig.txt in my .minecraft folder and putting the text 'fcEnableHardcoreBuckets=0' in it does absolutely nothing. Looks like I get to hack my inventory and give myself an infinite stack of lava and water source blocks.

I love the rest of it though!

EDIT; maybe I'm just dumb, I think I managed to make lava source blocks by pulling buckets out of the tank and putting them in the trough, they seem permanent, now I'll hit it with some water and see if I'm legit or just a whiner

MORE EDIT; I just made a trough full of cobble. It really sucks to get this far in the BTB game and then be completely stuck. Isn't -anyone- else having this trouble? Am I just 'special'?
