The way they do this is just ridiculous, the price is too high for a Con to begin with isn't it? E3, Pax, Comicon, they don't cost this much do they? There are how many millions of people that own Minecraft, and all they are going to allow to attend is 7500 people?

I don't know about PAX but E3 is about $900 for a three day pass.

It's just the dumbest thing I've ever seen them do. I'll bet they could rent a big place, charge $25-30 a head and get 20-30,000 people show up in the 2 days. Instead, they charge way too much and it ends up being mostly youtube celebs able to attend, with a tiny portion of their fanbase (of millions of subscribers) able to actually meet their idols.

I think you can only have that many people if you sign a multi-year agreement. Probably why San Diego Comic-Con (130,000) has been in the same convention center for two decades.

2500 go in sale today tho.
So might go pretty fast :P
But not a few seconds, probably a few minutes.

Hopefully we will get at least a few minutes. I remember reading Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference sold out in 90 seconds at $1,600 (limited to one ticket purchase per person), and they have a similar number of attendees as MineCon.

posted a message on When You Purchased Minecraft, What Update Was It At?
After trying the demo on the Mojang website, then watching video on how to survive your first day by Paul Soares Jr., (or maybe the other way around) I bought it immediately at Beta 1.8. I saw some people wearing Creeper outfits months or maybe a year before then at an anime convention, and I didn't know what they were supposed to be.

Isn't this irrelevant seeing as they are based in Sweden? (Different copyright laws)

No, most developed countries have trade agreements with each other that permit this sort of thing. I remember when Sega had to use a different logo for the European version of the Dreamcast, because some company there already had a similar design, and when Nintendo brought Pocket Monsters to the US they had to change the name to Pokemon because someone already had the name.

I doubt Mojang can be held responsible for what its fans do though, but the fans themselves could be. (Not that that they will be, companies can decide if its worth the effort or not to pursue further legal action.)

I can understand cross-promotion and the similar aesthetic to Minecraft, (plus Cube World does look like a fun game) but it sort of makes for a poor user experience when topics are in the wrong category.

It obviously should be held in my moderate-size city, in whatever random country I live in (that doesn't have many people and therefore Minecraft fans) and is also a transportation/logistical nightmare for the majority of Minecraft fans.

I wouldn't expect to buy a PlayStation game and get the Xbox version for free, but it would be nice.

I like how it seems to be built at (Minecraft) human scale.

posted a message on Why refer to gold as 'butter'? Gold ingots do not look, nor act like butter!
Minecraft ingots are rectangular with soft edges, real ingots are trapezoidal with sharp edges. Real sticks of butter have two square sides, Minecraft ingots are rectangular on all sides.

Minecraft ingots look neither like butter sticks or real ingots to me.

The last two were in entertainment areas (Las Vegas and Disneyland), so I'm thinking it will be somewhere in Florida.
