posted a message on Server Technology/Plugin Manager Looking for Work!
Hi, I am looking for work as a Technology/Plugin manager. Please note I am not a developer, but I may learn Java soon. Anyway, I have TONS of experience with Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X if you need help with the background stuff. But I also have just as much experience with most plugins, BungeeCord, Bukkit/Spigot, and all those kinds of things.

While I will not work for free, I will work for a low price. If you are interested please contact me on Skype.

    Thank you.

Skype: stuart.belskyI have no idea why it triple posted, I'm sorry about that.

posted a message on Why not have a Minecraft Server as a business?
    Quote from Epik

Mu suggestion is that you provide something original, different and fun. Take mc ctf as an example. They make tons of money for hosting something that other servers don't. People will pay for something different, so add a donation system that gives benefits, it works for most big and famous servers.
If you want to make this a real project you will need to custom code plugins for the server, make an idea and get dedicated moderators for it. You will need to build/design maps and beta test it before making it public, nobody wants a half-finished buggy server.
Another tip is hosting it yourself. Don't rent a vps, those are bad because there are hundreds of them on racks competing for connection, resources, etc. If you are hosting it yourself and plan on making a big server use arch Linux / another server operating system & get the best connection and hardware possible. Businesses in minecraft are hard, but can be very rewarding if done right. Hope this helped you!

The owner of MCCTF is 13 and he makes tens of thousands of dollars per year. I know him in real life. There is a perfect example of a Minecraft server as a business right there. He has a room in his house dedicated to servers, and a dedicated internet connection. While I find that running a minecraft server is a profitable business, if you have something new of course, much of it goes right back into the business. Even if you do host yourself, ISPs dont generally let you host servers on a any internet package, and if you run a small server, you dont have much to worry about internet wise, however a small server wont really be profitable at all. If you run a large, profitable server, you will be easy to find by your ISP due to your bandwith usage. Internet connections that allow you to run servers are expensive (depending on your ISP). Also, if you need extra dedicated IP addresses, you will need a internet connection that your ISP allows servers on. Not to mention that most servers preform way better on a dedicated connection. That would mean one connection for your personal devices and one for your server(s). So there it is. My essay on internet connection. Ok, thats it, bye.

    Dear Minecrafted,

I posted a ticket about a server problem quite awhile ago (April 13, 2013) and still have gotten no reply. I noticed that few days after posting my ticket status was changed to pending, while there still was no reply. I was wondering if you could look into that. If it helps,I'm on Node 23. Also, I ordered a second server even before posting that ticket, and it has still not been set up.

    Sincerely,

    Dearest Minecrafted,

I am extremely happy with the servers you are selling. For a lower price than anywhere I have seen, the 2GB server I run with you has not crashed under the heaviest of circumstances. Recently a OP griefer came on and blew up roughly 3000 TNT with WorldEdit, and I was online at the time and towards the end I got one Read Timed Out exception. Once. The server did not crash, go down, make me need to reset the map, or anything. It let me stay. Did I mention that commands even responded during the explosion? Then when any other host's server would take days to recover, the second the TNT finished up exploding, the server went back to normal. Normal as in responding to commands with high speeds (as usual.) I will definitely recommend you to anyone who ever asks me about running a server. (Trust me, a LOT of people ask.)

    Sincerely,
    Yet another happy customer,

    Quote from ecaep42

Sir, you cannot change your IP with a webbrowser. You are stuck with 1 static IP and can only be changed by ISP.

    What?

    Quote from Shpaget

How is that supposed to be useful or even functional?

It gives you a random IP address every time you click a button, as opposed to scrolling through a server list for a long time.

    Quote from socksthefox

How much are you willing to pay for this? Nobody in their right mind would accept such an open-ended contract involving so much work and get nothing for their time. And don't say something stupid like "I'll give you credit" we serious coders want cash.

I dont think the fact that I will give the coder credit is stupid. I think its a good idea. Also, I am not hiring for money, and in the post I quoted below I state what you must need to do, and honestly, after a lot of google, it doesnt look that hard, I just dont understand how, and instead of wasting my time trying and failing to figure it out, I find it much easier to find someone who is willing to do it. You need to be able to make randomizers, looks easy, just not for me. Also, I state that I can do pretty much the rest of the site, just I might need some help with the login system. Thats it. Some help. If you want money, and are going to whine that there is a lot of work involved, where clearly there isn't, then you are of no help to me. Please, read the first post next time before you embarrass yourself by saying the complete opposite of what is stated.

    Quote from supernerd2000

I am definitely going to help with the the rest of the site. I can do that, All I need are the randomizers and probably some of the login system. If I need more than that, I will tell the person, if they arent willing to, no problem, I can always try to find another person for that new job.

Are you expecting it to be done for free, if you are, everybody hates "idea guys". Are you planning on contributing, if you are somebody may be willing to help, but not do the majority of the work.

I need a skilled web coder that can do the following. Registered users can add server ips that go directly into a MySQL database. They also must be able to create a randomizer that can randomize the IPs. They must also be able to make randomized skins (if thats possible), randomized usernames, and randomized server names. The user/server names will be suggestions to the player. They must also, if possible, be willing to add anything they are capable of that I or other team members suggest. For more information, please contact me on Skype (stuart.belsky)

    Hello supernerd,

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to find a quality host that charges only $5 for 1GB, however I can offer you $9.99/mo for 1GB of RAM.

If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
