posted a message on How do you hide lighting in the Java Edition?

For the past year, I have been playing the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft. I have grown accustomed to using slabs and stairs to hide lighting. Now I am transitioning to the Java Edition and looking for alternative lighting methods. After some research, I found this fantastic hidden lighting guide from a couple of years ago. I learned some new tricks like using pistons which have textures that blend well with both oak and stone.

Are there any newer methods of hiding lighting? What are your favorite ways to light your builds in the Java Edition?

posted a message on LF other female Minecraft players [Mature][Survival][Easy][Vanilla][Discord]

***Please do not respond to my post until you have read it all. Please do not use my thread to advertise your server/realm. Thank you.

Hi! My name is Sarah, I'm 33 years old and I've been playing Minecraft for over a year now. I'm looking for other mature (age 25+) women to play Minecraft with. I have both java and bedrock versions of the game. I would like to start a multiplayer game and once I find a good group of ladies, eventually start a server. I want to play a vanilla (un-modded), easy, mostly survival game. I don't want to have flying, creative inventory, or mega builds (larger than a woodland mansion). I would like to use discord for voice chat while playing.

When playing Minecraft, I enjoy farming, taming animals and building trading villages. I'm not into pvp, pranking, or combat (will probably only fight the ender dragon once to access end cities and may not ever fight the wither). Sometimes I'd like to put the game into peaceful to do specific things (like exploring the nether or fighting the ender dragon).

I'm looking for mature, drama-free women who will be kind, considerate and respectful of everyone else. My husband and I already have a couple of trusted friends who are interested in joining our game, I'm just hoping to find some more female players. Looking forward to making new friends! =)

    Update 3/31:

We have now been playing on a bedrock multiplayer world for over a month. Our plan is to transition to a java server after Update Aquatic is released. We have created an Application and established some Community Guidelines:

    1. No griefing, stealing, cheating (duping or addons), trespassing
    2. No pvp or pranking unless previously agreed on by all parties and pvp only in a designated area
    3. Be respectful: no drama, no profanity, no religious/political debate, no bigotry or verbal attacks of any kind
    4. Be considerate of the environment: repair creeper holes, don't leave floating trees, no unsightly builds like dirt towers
    5. No mega builds or large redstone devices (simple mob farms are permitted, complex storage systems are not)
    6. The closest of each generated structure (mansion, fortress) and rare biome (mushroom island, ice spikes) will be reserved as community space
    7. Mature adults only (age 25+)

If you are a mature and respectful female player age 25 or over, respond here or send me a PM for the Application link. By submitting an application, you are agreeing to follow the guidelines listed above.

Someone shared a really neat Bedrock seed (928574289) with a village island, stronghold, ravine, shipwreck and underwater ruins at spawn. See link for screenshot and coordinates.

posted a message on Any other adult minecrafters out there?

It's nice to see that many other mature adults are playing Minecraft! I just turned 34 and my husband introduced me to the game a little over a year ago. He has been playing for about eight years. This is my first sandbox game and although I still enjoy games with rich lore, I really like how versatile Minecraft is. For example, when I first started playing, I learned the game in peaceful mode. Now I still enjoy vanilla survival, especially farming, animals and fishing. This game with the relaxing music is great when you need to unwind. After I figured out how I like to set up my home and farms, I started feeling a bit bored with the game. Then I got into building trading villages which keeps me busy looking for the best deals. I have tried playing modded, but I really prefer vanilla. While I prefer survival to creative, I will turn on cheats like disabling fire spread and use command blocks for things like teleporting to distant biomes or rare structures.

One of my favorite parts of the game is playing with other people. I like to have my own space to build and mine, but I really enjoy interacting with other players in the game and seeing the neat things they come up with. I also enjoy voice chatting while playing Minecraft. My husband and I played together on a LAN world. We also joined a few realms, but there were so many young trolls/griefers that we decided to start our own small community for mature adults only and be very selective about who to invite. Now I really enjoy the multiplayer aspect of the game. There are so many things like defeating the ender dragon or exploring/remodeling a woodland mansion that are much more fun to do with a group. I would love to find some kind of larger community of adult Minecraft players, even if we have different play styles and are part of various realm/servers.

posted a message on Gettin a bit burnt out and need help

My favorite relaxing activities in Minecraft are farming, fishing and playing with animals. I also enjoy building trading villages. You can set up villager breeding fairly quickly in survival, but you have to spend time unlocking the villagers and finding the ones with the best trades, deciding which ones you're going to keep. You can do as little as you like or just as a background activity while building something else. If you're interested, here is my villager breeding system. Hope you find something you enjoy!

posted a message on Why aren't my Villagers breeding?

I would also recommend adding a roof so your villagers are protected from lightning and stray arrows. If you don't already have a farm for them inside, I suggest adding that as well. I prefer carrots so the villagers don't fill their inventories up with seeds or poisonous potatoes. If you're interested, this is my villager breeding system.

posted a message on My villager breeding system

Hey Minecrafters! I wanted to share my first attempt at villager breeding and trading and see if anyone has any suggestions for improvement. I am playing the Bedrock edition (but also have the Java edition if anyone is interested in playing together). I built a breeding facility at ground level and cured two brown-robed zombie villagers. They have carrots to farm and there is a slab in the middle over a hole that the baby villagers fall down into.

The babies land on slime blocks in the maturation chamber below. When they step on pressure plates, they extend the pistons and trap themselves so they can grow up safely. This chamber is seven blocks underground which I believe is far enough to keep the villagers safe from lightning. Right now I am manually killing them if I don't like their trades. I am interested in transitioning to a system to kill them (possibly using sand to suffocate) so I don't lose popularity and would appreciate any suggestions.

If the villagers have good trades, I open the gate behind them and transport them via minecart to the trading hall which is at least 64 blocks away. I added trapdoors on top of the pistons after the villagers somehow got released and played musical chairs moving to different spots in the trading hall. I think possibly the game lagged and the entities loaded before the blocks and somehow the pistons didn't register as extended. Since adding the trapdoors, I have not had any more issues with villagers getting out.

Will this design work on the Java edition as well or are the villager mechanics quite different? Thanks for any input! =)

FYI, you posted this in the Java (formerly MCPC) realm section. It sounds like you're looking for a Bedrock (formerly MCPE) realm. Try here instead. Good luck in your search! =)

Hi, I'm Sarah from WA State. I'm 32 and it's so nice to see other players around my age! I'm new to Minecraft and I'd like to make some mature drama-free friends to play cooperative non-PVP games while voice chatting. If you think your realm is a good fit for me, please send me a message on xbox (StarDreamer1984)
