Wow, that was much faster than I thought, but The lord of the Mines is really subject to change. I would like to see a very large map, or really group of linked maps, based on J.R.R Tolkiens Middle earth, but if the rest of the world doesn't like that idea, the map could be of something else.
This idea may be too ambitious, but I have seen what large groups of people can make and I think it may work.
I intend to set a new Standard for user interaction on minecraft, and a large scale project is just the thing to do that.
This post, and this thread will start off a little bare, but I hope that people will post all kinds of goodies to make it a fully fledged success.
As for the project, I, and many others, would love to see, a middle earth based map. This would be a huge project, to big fr any one person. I will not post many ideas for doing this, but I do have a few.
1. get LOTS of people involved. Anyone, and people with special skills, like Oski. This will mean pretty, intriguing, and linked sigs.
2. This will be a BIG map. Too big to fit on just one map. I think that whoever it is who runs the Archives could help us with that problem.
3.This is not just building. We will need to plan the maps, and spread the word about this project, because we need as many people working on this as possible. Some privet forms, and maybe logos would be nice...
4. I am on a mac. I Therefore wont be able to host ANYTHING.
5. If this thing gets as big as I'm hoping it will, we may even get notch to help us *blushes*.
6. I'm posting this on a part of the forms that most people don't look at, and many people post on. If this is not going to get buried in little map requests, it needs to be linked to on more heavily visited areas.
7. By no means am I the leader of this project. I simply posted about it first. Feel free to ask me for permission to do something, but my permission is only good if everyone likes your and my idea. DISCUSS!
8. Good luck, and spread the word! (-:>*
I took the liberty of making a map of middle earth even more confusing;
with a bunch of lines.
I think that anything that isn't
A. A city or town, or
B. at all relative to the plot of the books (emin muil, the dead marsh, or the lonely mountain, for example)
can be taken from a 50*50 mile square to a 256*256 meter map.
Large forests and mountain ranges that are important, like Fangorn, or The White Mountains, could also maybe be condensed, as long as they are tall enough (no 3 foot trees), but maybe not as much.
Cheers! :smile.gif:
ps before designing a square, be sure to say that you are. Important places are different. Before we make those, we need to decide what they are, but we do need scale versions to be on the maps. These could link to bigger versions.
I like the ideas people have been having, keep em comin'! :smile.gif:
Edit: I will be making edits to this post.
IMPORTANT PLACES:
as decided by anyone who posted (post to disagree)
He might no have used cheat engine, in java if you go over the maximum value of a primitive data type (int, short, byte, long), it overflows to the minimum value.

I think it may have something to do with port forwarding, which no one seems to know how to do on a mac.
Please help! =(
