Amazing. I wish you had a video showing how you cave. I am so terrified in caves I fence myself in every few steps so nothing can sneak up on me and I never get far from the entrance. It‘s like a phobia.
I bring in a ton of torches - the faster you get light in there, and the more of it, the fewer mobs spawn. If you have to, run in, lay torch, run out, fight a mob if it chases you out, repeat deeper in.
I'm not sure how I got this, but I've been playing it on Survival for the challenge alone.
Spawn: middle of the ocean
Supplies: shipwrecks or the very, very few islands. Most islands have nothing. Once in a while one will have 1 tree, another some grass, another may have flowers.
Basically, no land animals to live off of. I've been 19,000 blocks in east/west, and 12,000 in North/South.
No other Ocean biome types, just Ocean. Have NOT seen any Ocean Monuments what-so-ever. No villages. No traders.

I'm still challenging myself to it, but no chickens, no cattle - and no skeleton spawners ... it's getting tough. Seems like a lost cause.

I've been playing it for three days. The challenge to thrive is what's fun. Start is over open water; sink or swim.
