posted a message on Looking for good Villager textures with the big Noses
So I like the fact that the default villagers in minecraft have giant noses, but the default skins (or even the faithful versions) don't really work with my texture pack, which is predominantly dokucraft. Could anyone help point me in the direction of good villager textures with the large noses (that sentence was weird to write)? I've been looking for about 30 minutes with no real luck.

I forgot to mention, I'd also obviously be looking for matching zombie villager and witch textures

I downloaded it and had a good look around in the nether. I couldn't find your portal, so I lost a fight with a wither skeleton and respawned in the overworld. I spent some time there and then went back to the nether. No problems at all.

This was in MC 1.4.2 using Optifine and a HD texture pack. Are you doing anything specific when it crashes? I can't see anything wrong with the save. Perhaps it was something to do with the mods you were "messing around with".

Yeah sorry I forgot to say the location, the nether portal is at X:4148 Y:68 Z:827, and if you go through that and to the end of the minecart track you get to a spot that causes the game to crash. Elsewhere in the nether is fine, but right there (in the nether fortress) things don't work. I was only able to get out by changing my dimension in the .dat file.

A complete and total lack of evidence to support the claim is more than enough reason for it not to be taught in school. That is unless you want kids to be taught unicorns, bigfoot, griffons, dragons and fairies all exist too. That and as I stated it's a conflict of interest for the people who do not follow said religion, leave that garbage for church not school. They do teach you theories for "why" like the big bang theory but they at least call them as they are "theories" because there isn't enough evidence to prove the theories; there is no "reason" for evolution, it just is what it is. Christianity never refers to God as a "theory" they just pretend it's fact. There is no evidence to prove there is a "why" and no reason to believe there is, we are apex predators, there's your why.

    Please read my entire post.

The conflict is not everyone believes in Christianity and in fact only a small percentage of those people are still clinging to creationism. Thus facts should be taught in school, not religion; of course that's assuming you're not going to a private religious school. No one entity invented mankind, it's called evolution and it has nothing to do with "a creator", welcome to the 21st century.

    1. Conflict only arises when you look to the wrong source for the wrong answers. Science does not tell you why we were created or who did it, only how and when, your assertion that "no one entity invented mankind" is conjecture. Lack of evidence is not necessarily evidence against.
    2. I was talking in general, not supporting religion being taught in school.
    3. As far as I can tell you are as small minded as the creationists you decry.

Religion and science are exceedingly similar. They both try to explain life.

The key differences as I see it:

Religion assumes that there is an all powerful entity controlling everything.

Science wants to find out why things are, what made them so, and what they're going to be.

I don't see any conflict, religion says who and why, science says how and when. Things like the book of Genesis were only intended to tell people who created them and why, not the exact manner it happened (evolution).

The square root of 4 is in fact 2 and -2. Mathematicians tend to ignore the negative number. I have to yet to find why.

Any algebra class (that is doing it right) makes you write sqrt(4) as +-2, otherwise you would have half as many solutions to a given quadratic equation. We did tend to mostly ignore the negative in later classes like calculus though.

So my world is crashing a few seconds after I open the world (it loads fine), and I know it's some issue with save because it happened after I tried redownloading my .jar and on another computer. I put this in the modded section because I use an HD texture pack (MCpatcher) and I was messing around with mods a few days ago, although i have since reverted to a vanilla + HD texture client (and it was working fine for about a day since). I uploaded my save file to mediafire, linked below, if anyone can help tell me what the problem is/how to fix it I would very much appreciate it.

posted a message on 1.3 Chest texture location
    Quote from Seradicus

The chest is it's own file. Try looking around for it in the folders within minecraft.jar.
It was moved in 1.8, when the chest was changed from the standard block to the slightly-smaller chest with 3D lock that opens.

Aaah thanks, my pack has the separate files but I guess I've been lugging around the chest textures in the items.png since 1.8, and I was worried about replacing them.

Could anyone tell me where the chest textures (the .png) were moved to in 1.3? I edit my own texture pack (a mix of many) and it seems the textures were moved around a bit. (And until this gets fixed my blocks of emerald look like chest tops).

    thanks in advance

How large is your village? As I mentioned in the first post, I believe sieges can only occur if a village has at least ten houses and at least twenty villagers (for which you'd actually need about sixty houses to breed that many, at least initially.)

Quite large, at least two Golems will spawn at a time (I kill them for iron, you can see their roses on the right :P )

You can see the rows of compact "houses" in the upper left; i have at least 60 doors total.

It's not exactly conclusive, but I haven't seen a mob in the village yet.

ps that's all legit, including the lava moat

Damn, looks like I will need to half-slab everything.

    Thanks though.

My custom village is inside a (large) castle, so everything is lit up, and I haven't seen any sieges yet, so you probably just need sufficient lighting around it

posted a message on Testificate/Villager breeding
    Quote from IronMagus

That's not right. Check the link in my sig for a detailed description, but here's the short version:

Villagers will breed until they reach the cap of 0.35 times the number of "houses." A "house" is defined as a wooden door with an "inside" and an "outside." The "inside" is the side with more "roof" blocks than the other. There are no minimum space requirements, in fact you don't even need any indoor space at all - a single block on the ground with a door next to it counts as a "house" for breeding purposes.

You may simply not have enough houses (doors). You get roughly 1 villager for every 3 doors in the village.

Well I removed the pressure plates and they starting breeding. I'm not sure if that was the cause or not though since I might have just been unlucky.
