Turns out it wasn't chunk0,0 (I used the cartogapher trick to see where it was). Not sure why there are more mobs, but I'm liking it.

Probably around the 12th world I've created, and there are a lot more mobs at night at ground level than ever before:
(auto-balanced to clear up the mobs). Every night there are at least two or three times as many mobs as any other world I've started.
The only thing I can think of (besides being a random thing) is the chunk 0,0, which as I understand it is where the most mobs consistently spawn.

This happens to me occasionally with all kinds of blocks. Save and restart always fixes the pickup, and half the time even gives me the previous missing blocks too.

From admin layer, 2 parallel 2x1 corridors, separated by 2 blocks. This allows you to see ore in 6 blocks laterally (left of left corridor, the left corridor, the right wall of left corridor, the left wall of right corridor, right corridor and right wall of right corridor). I then go up 4 levels and do the same (you can then see the 2 intervening blocks - roof of lower and floor of upper).

    edit: as in above post

First post. Great game, great forum. Been playing for a couple of weeks now, completely sucking all my free time.

I did a quick search but didn't find an answer, so I'll ask here.
How much glass should you surround lava/magma with to make it 'safe'? i.e. how close can I put a tree, or wooden chest for example to a lake of magma, or a lava flow?
