This is what worked for me. Deleted the file (tmpLauncher.tmp) from the temp directory. tried launching minecraft again and it worked.
the 2nd time i had to drag the tmplauncher.tmp file ONTO the Minecraft.exe file. (which effectively tells the computer to use the minecraft exe to open the tmp file. Hope this helps.
