I've been doing a little modding myself, so I've picked up a few things, like the fact that grass blocks go "hey dirt, what's your texture?" when drawing it's bottom face rather than registering a new icon.
So I'm like "FABULOUS" and yoink textures from other blocks.
Speaking of, I think I have two or three blocks that aren't doing that... 's what I get for doing a mass update of two dozen blocks for 1.5.x and copy-pasting the new icon registration code.
See, i'm not sure how I'll work that into my code, cause mine isn't just a block; it's like a tile entity special renderer AND an isimpleblockrenderer
so uh
it's kinda confusing :s
I think it's still using the old texture stuffs because agh
i dunno
I'll work on it ^///^
Store an int in your bookshelf TileEntity that is saves the metadata of the wood used in its construction, then do Block.planks.getBlockTextureFromSideAndMetadata(0,savedInt)
That'll pull back the icon that wood planks are using for that metadata, so even if someone edits the pngs for wood, your bookcase will still match. At least, on the top and bottom. Though if you use a custom renderer, you could draw that texture on a quad behind the bookcase quad (where the bookshelf texture has transparent pixles to see through to it) like I did here. Or find a way to blit the two textures together. Haven't seen that code anywhere yet, but I would be shocked if it doesn't exist.
Ok, sorry about that. wasnt sure. however would there be any hope for your mod to use texturepack support? using the textures that would be overwritten by any texture pack? for example if you look at the fireplace mod which uses new models, if i use a texture pack, then his models use the textures from the texture pack... cause that would be really cool...the only one im really looking for is the wood from the bookshelves. not specifically from one texture pack, but to adopt the wood from any texture pack. even if it was just the oak. however the ability to make it out of multiple types of wood would be really cool too. not sure how complicated any of that would be to code... just a few requests/suggestions as i havent seen any talk yet about the textures.
p.s. the 3d shelves are HOT!!! lol
Oh shoot, yeah. I gotta get that wood texture thingy working. Sure, I'll do that :3
I'll see what I can do about multiple types of wood, shouldn't be TOO hard. >_>
I see that you have texture pack support in the downloads section, but not entirely sure what to do with the .png's in the zip. do i overwrite the .png's in your mod's .zip with those? doing that would i need to rename them to corespond with the .png's in your mod's zip? (i think some of the are named differently from yours at first glance) And does it work for MC1.5.1 other than not liking the texture's (i think it looks funky with sphax) i love your mod and cant wait to see what you add to it, if anything. thank you...
The texture pack isn't compatible with anything > 1.4.7, but it may be updated soon. Not my project
The first screens were from a 1.4.7-generated world, in Survival. Happens in 1.5.1 Survival worlds too, and on my other machine. Here it is in the Creative inventory:
-imgsnip-
When I place the item, I can see it taking a split second to orient itself toward me - I was also assuming that was expected, but maybe not?
Going to backup, take out Enhanced Books, load, close, and put it back in, see if that fixes it.
Edit: Nope
Weird. I think it might be an optifine/forge issue, cause nobody else seems to be getting it with just MCForge.
The split second for orientation is a stupid client/server syncing issue. I think furnaces do it too.
Certainly not a game-breaker, but did you mean for the bookshelf to show up as a flat plank side (rather than something like the old open shelf face), in the inventory and when dropped?
is very difficult to make a mod? I'd like to make one but I have no idea how to do xD
Is very complicated applications need to make a mod?
sorry for the question that has nothing to do with your mod, is that I have curiosity :$
You need to use Java. Things like adding a block or an item are easy, but GUIs, 3D blocks, and containers are where it gets hard.

It's gonna be harder to texture

You may, on the condition that you don't make any money off this pack

Okay! Thanks for reporting the bug!

Weird, too. I can't seem to reproduce it at all.

Wha? I'm not getting that..

Thank YOU!
Any bugs been found yet? ._.

Should work 100%
