    Quote from Blitzgrutel

I created a creative world to make a sprint parkour. And I noticed that even if I'm in creative mode, the running seems to stops by itself after a while, like if I was in survival mode.

    I'm in version 1.7.2

    Anydoby have this issue?

    No

    1. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.
Anyway, Since 1.7 came out , I've been lagging hard and was wondering if anyone can build me a computer (probably from newegg) that can Run Minecraft with full settings (Far,Maxium Smooth lighting, etc). My budget is around 800$. One reason I also don't want to buy a computer and instead, make my own is since people say HP,Dell,Gateway and AlienWare suck supposedly. I also don't expect to play any games like BF3,COD or Skyrim etc, Just Minecraft and possibly CubeWorld. Thank you ... :)
(I already have a OS so no need to add one)

For $800 you should be able to easily build a computer that will run the BF games, COD and Skyrim.

He did not explode, im sure of that.. It said I was killed by a Zombie.

Are you sure the creeper didn't explode after you died? This can blow up your stuff. I have also seen a bug (not for some time though) where your stuff is actually there but invisible. There is no setting to change what happens to your loot when you die without mods (Unsure if there is even a mod that would change this) Also Zombies can pick up your items and run off with them.

    Quote from NotionCommotion1

    Thanks grommen and Nepenthesis,

Yes, I did stumble upon bukkit, but wasn't really sure if it was a must have. Sounds like it is.

Still a little confused on the whole mod/plugin thing. So, mods typically run on the client and plugins run on the server. Bukkit is a mod, but not in the normal sense in that it runs on the server, and allows plugins to be used. When using a plugin, does the client need to install some sort of mod?

Bukkit is a third party server software. This is what you will want to use. If you want to install any server side mods or plugins, you simply drop them in the plugins folder. The linux servers will be fine. Also consider how many people will be playing on the server. For every ~8 people connecting you would ideally want at least 1Mbps of upstream bandwidth available.

You can just port forward to the server for outside connections (you can choose the port in the minecraft config file). Internally you can just connect to the LAN address (and port if it was changed from the default).

The server software does not require a purchase. It is the account you are actually purchasing that allows you to login to your Minecraft client. When you run the server on your linux box you will simply see a console that scrolls server messages.

Basically, you have everything you need other than downloading the latest release of Bukkit Server. Set that up and you are good to go.

posted a message on Couple server based questions
Are you actually having performance issues when there are a bunch of people logged into the server? There really is no need to mess with the OS unless you have the need to try and squeeze out as much performance as you can to handle the load. You should also consider your bandwidth if you are seeing performance issues with remote users.

When MC is updated to a new version, chunks that have not been loaded yet will be loaded with the new blocks, mobs, etc... once they are loaded for the first time. I have yet to see anything that will actually update chunks that were generated during a previous version install. I am unsure how that works when mods are adding new blocks.

    Quote from Jwinco123

Ah, Minecraft. Build houses, survive, ride pigs... Oh, and did I mention ride horses, enchant, dye glass, dye clay, travel to out-of-place biomes, and fight the Wither? Is it just me, or is Minecraft going downhill?

Do any of you remember the "Golden Age"? As in Beta 1.7? That was when I first got the game. I thought it would be awesome, and I wasn't disappointed. Then 1.8 came out. Cool. 1.0-meh. 1.1- umm... Now we are at 1.6, the horse update. Horses render minecarts and pigs completely useless. Leads just look... Wrong. They don't fit. And don't forget the 1.7 update coming out. It adds a bunch of new biomes that look fresh out of a mod (which is what Notch has been doing lately, anyways). And Stained Glass, and Podzol, and Mossy Cobblestone Boulders, and Packed Ice. They aren't bad, really. But they don't belong. I don't know about you guys, but I never stay with most mods that long, because while they are fun, they take away the feeling of Minecraft.

Can you explain how any of these updates prevent you from doing the things you used to do before these items were added?

MC is most definitely not going downhill no matter how much you have convinced yourself that everything you feel while in your mom's basement somehow manifests into reality.

    Quote from zorket

Well... no support. I've made a lot of redstone inventions that involve redstone lamps, and I don't need them all being ruined by this getting added. Maybe adding a seperate lamp called a gloomy lamp?

This is probably the dumbest reason not to support something. What would adding this switch have to do with ruining your current redstone inventions? You either have them the way they are now or switch them into "sensitivity mode"

I don't care if the light is colored or not. The simple aesthetics of multiple colored redstone lamp blocks would only increase the level of detail that one can build with without changing any core aspect of the game.

This is not the same thing as colored light. Simply a different colored object that emits whatever light Minecraft lighted objects emit.

I want to suggest that Mojang get RID OFF messages on starting page as:

    Very Fun! (yes we know)
Peter Griffin! (we like that too, ok)
You can only see this text on 1920x1080 who gives a F resolution. (ok i can see, so..)
    Sexy! (as you say)
NP is not in P (what?)
    90801 (cheesus)
Guaranteed (ok just please shut up...)
etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

I mean I understand that Mojang people are happy for making such a great game.
But please stop with messages that no one really cares about, they make me want to vomit. More or less.

Can It just be "Minecraft" without some superficial unessesary comments like this one:

    http://prntscr.com/1xgd9m

It says "You cant explain that" - I actually can explain that, its awesome, its minecraft just turn off those messages that gives me headaches since I bough minecraft 4 years ago i think, please. lol
    (excuse my rudeness note)

    Your thoughts please

This is absolutely the most pointless thing to even have an opinion about. There is no reason at all something like this would give you a headache. If you can't handle a couple of words on a splash screen that have no bearing on how the game plays, you should really be seeing a shrink and spending less time playing video games.

posted a message on Adjustable Redstone Lamps
Another fairly simple redstone lamp suggestion:

A switch that would be activated by right clicking that changes the mode of the redstone lamp so that it emits a light level based on the strength of the redstone signal.

posted a message on Stained Redstone Lamps
    Simple suggestion:

The ability to change the color of a redstone lamp by using dyes. Would be similar to stained glass.

This would not require adding any items to the game or changing any core concept of the game, just a simple combination of 2 already existing concepts.

    Quote from Dford302

I dont want to do that . Ive already found a few monster spawners already and destroyed them without thinking. It could take forever to find another one . I want to go with my mob grinder in the sky idea , it sounds like a solid plan to me .

Well it doesn't seem to be working so well so I would question how solid the plan actually is.

You can have your mob grinder in the sky, but unless you plan on sitting by it all day long you won't be getting too much action out of it.

posted a message on Need help with a few ideas for an improved mob trap/grinder
    Quote from Dford302

Before I begin I have the Xbox 360 edition and it is the newest version. So I have built a few mob traps and i have been pretty unimpressed with the results. I know that caves within a certain radius of me effect the spawn rate in my trap, but hunting down and lighting up all those caves to me seem tedious and not really an exact science . The newest update has increased the worlds roof to 200 hundred something, im not sure how high . But my idea was to start the landing platform so high in the sky that any caves that are affecting my spawn rate didnt matter anymore. I know that after a certain distance away from you mobs wont spawn. I was hoping someone could help me out by letting my know what that distance was and how far away I have to be for mobs to begin spawning . Also is my idea even possible? do mobs stop spawning at a certain height or does it not matter as long as all the conditions are met? Also I have read that mobs that have spawned will only move two blocks away from their spawn point? Is that true ? If so could anyone send me a link to a tutorial on making an effective mob grinder for the newest update for the 360 version of minecraft . Thanks in advance for the help !

You should find spawners in caves and make your grinders out of those. The only thing you really can't get out of that is creeper fodder.
