A friend of mine decided to upgrade her laptop to windows 10 from windows 8 and ended up having numerous issues, it barely works. Unfortunately it's been more than a month since the install so traditional rollback isn't an option. However I've got a copy of a system builder disk for windows 8 (this one right here) and I was wondering if it was possible to do a downgrade with that. The disk has only been used 1 time with my machine.

You can go to the homepage of Xbox Live. There you can log in and change your username once for free. After that, you must relog and if you then restart the game, it should then use the changed username. Ingame, you can also change your skin.
My first impression is indeed that it is a decent "Minecraft light" for those who haven't a powerful enough CPU to run the normal Minecraft, or for those who want the game more simple again like back in the days, but still with some of the new important stuff.
However, the terrain is (currently) also more flat again, just like in Minecraft 1.0, except for the extreme hills and those crazy savannah mountains.
I can't say that I've noticed it being more flat. But is it just me or do biomes blend together much better than on the PC version? Maybe it's not that but something just seems a lot nicer about the terrain generation.

So, I need three accounts to get the game now: Mojang to get the code, Microsoft to get the game and XBox to get to play... I mean, think about it with a clear, human mind: that's pretty odd, isn't it?
Maybe I'm nostalgic, but when I was a kid, you didn't need any account at all to play a game, even not if it was free. And the normal Minecraft PC version itself is also doing pretty fine with only your Mojang account and a simple download link. So it is still possible.
That's why I have a small hate towards the professional gaming industrie nowadays, because of that terrible bureaucracy, where you can't even anonymously buy and play a game anymore, or can't sometimes even play without internet.
As if you are untrustworthy scum by buying your games fairly...
I'm pretty sure a microsoft and xbox account are the same thing

It's not on their agenda right now. But with DX12 it is technically possible. That being said the feature gap between the two versions would need to close significantly.

Seriously. It adds a lot of atmosphere to the area once you go out and explore the new islands. The whole vibe is like the area is in the background echo of the regular universe or something. It's really good, and really unique.

Because the pocket edition runs better than regular minecraft since it's not in Java. added controller support. I'm pretty sure it's also going to be the version that holo-lens uses(not confirmed I'm just assuming). It's also great if you have a surface and can switch between controls based on where you are.
Yeah it's more limited, but over time that's going to improve. And It's probably also going to get a lot of PC features like the end pushed for pocket edition. I also wouldn't be surprised if down the line the Windows 10 edition ends up merging with the xbox1 version, so you have one universal app across all 3 platforms.

Long story short, I'm going to college for animation, had to get a mac book pro (which I hate). and every time i bring up why macs are bad my sister always chimes in with "adobe products run better on macs."
Is there any truth behind this? Or is it just one of those stupid misconceptions like Mac's don't get virus'

I'm currently working on building my first gaming PC and I found a nice monitor made by ASUS(I use a laptop right now). And i wanted to be 100% sure it's a 60hz monitor so I checked the specs on newegg and it's giving me a different horizontal and vertical refresh rate and was hoping someone could explain to me why there's 2 when other monitors i checked are just listed as the refresh rate, and if it's a 60hz monitor

Java is barely suitable as it is for minecraft.
One of the things i hope comes out of the minecraft buyout by MS. They invest in creating a minecraft 2 on a new proprietary engine that runs everything fantastically and makes it easier for the minecraft team to add in content, and has a good API.

I like the idea of a story mode. There's a lot they could expand upon in universe while still keeping the minecraft world a mystery. But just a random story in the context of minecraft seems....stupid. I'm fine with large storys of any kind within minecrafts universe. but dong a game on it seems pointless.
Jan 2, 2015skyace66 posted a message on What part of Minecraft would you like to see explored more?A few things. Ocean biomes, and adventuring content.Posted in: Discussion
Oceans are still mostly empty even with the new monument.
And the game desperately needs more adventuring content. Ever since 1.8 they've been slowly adding in more ruins/dungeons to explore but the game still feels as empty as ever since it all comes down to luck if you get any interesting content near you. There needs to be more. Also there needs to be more to do in the nether, and less dependence on nether fortress to do interesting stuff in the overworld. want to make potions? need a fortress. make a wither? find a fortress. find the end? find a fortress. There just needs to be more stuff.
Jan 1, 2015skyace66 posted a message on spawn with no terrain than the game crashes (1.8.1)Really weird issue. The other day Minecraft was working fine for me. Today I logged on and tried creating a custom survival mode(I only edited the biome settings) created the world and i spawned in a void and was falling. The game than loaded the terrain for a second and than java crashed. i tried making a new world without custom terrain, same issue. tried loading a world i used yesterday fine, world loaded for a few seconds than crashed. tried creative mode, same problem. My Java is up to date. I haven't messed with the launcher at all. I'm seriously clueless as to what could be causing this. I'm running windows 8.1Posted in: Java Edition Support
Edit: this is the only message the launcher gives me on this issue

However a new engine would be amazing. A custom, heavily mod compatible and optimised engine so minecraft will run great without needing a workstation grade CPU. Please let them keep shaders and texture packs optional...
As long as a Minecraft2 has a brand new well optimized engine, more content and is still open. I see no reason why it shouldn't happen.
