    posted a message on Boats still broken?
    My only real problem with boats is the controls. I would prefer a scheme that uses WASD only as opposed to the current blend of WASD and mouse movement.

    There were changes made to terrain generation, so what you had in 1.8 was probably re-zoned to a tundra in 1.1+

    Ghasts.

    Dodging fireballs from multiple directions while trying to take a shot is annoying, and the Nether's terrain can make gathering drops a hassle; drops either fall down a ~100 block deep canyon or they land in lava.

    Nice location and buildings. I would make the pond smaller (I have a habit of leaving at least 1 block of grass between structures etc.) and I'd move the waterfall over near that tall building in the back...have it flow over the deck or something.

    Why are people replying to year-old topics?

    But I was also wondering what that patch did when it came out... Last year...

    Just think of how many times the phrase "use the search function" has been posted. Well, people use the search function and forget to check the date of the last post sometimes.

    Which would you prefer: necroposts or the same damn topic re-posted 100+ times a day? :tongue.gif:

    posted a message on Minecraft Poll; Sneak Peek of the Jungle
    Make the data tracking feature an option of some sort when logging in (a little tick box under "remember password" maybe). People who are ok with it can give out info and the people who think it's a bad idea can just opt out. Mojang will still get a ton of data and everyone will be happy.

    ...and I'm going to guess that the mob is a squirrel of some kind (maybe a flying squirrel). It looks like it's sitting on a leaf block in the back, so it cant be large, and what little of the face I can see (assuming that is a face) looks more rodent like than primate. A squirrel might also be a good fit too because with animals no longer able to despawn, you don't want to make an animal so biome specific that it will be REALLY out of place if it accidentally migrates to a new biome.

    posted a message on Water randomly turning into ice
    When changes are made to biome generation, existing biomes in older worlds will sometimes get changed.

    Basically, your 1.0 plains may have been rezoned as a tundra in 1.1, or something to that effect.

    If you just want to stop the farm from icing over, you can put blocks above the water. The wiki says glowstone melts ice, but it may need to be outside of water to take effect or it could be that the blocks' statuses weren't updated when the biome changed over...you could try breaking and re-placing them.

    posted a message on Coal vs Charcoal [Poll]
    Charcoal being renewable makes the game less about surviving and in a way it actually requires more effort to obtain. Coal can be found while mining for other important resources and can be used the second you get it. To get charcoal, you need to cut down (and replant) a forest, and then burn the logs just to get a usable resource.

    coal = survival
    charcoal = creative survival

    I prefer coal, but I'm not above using charcoal if I need to run a lot of furnaces.

    posted a message on I love the new snapshot!
    Nice to see beaches added back in, but they still look like they need some work. I would like to see the game generate them as a border around whatever terrain is near water (like 2-15 blocks thick) and I wouldn't let beaches stack any higher than 3 blocks because it starts looking like something out of a desert biome.

    Don't worry guys, it's just a BET-oh wait

    Definitely not liking some of these sounds; it's like they were trying to make them more realistic. As for fall damage, I don't mind the breaking sound, but I think it would be improved by having the character grunt on top of that. If mojang is worried about people's "female" characters making male sounds, they should just add an option to choose a gender.

    posted a message on Minecraft...In Skyrim?
    Way too much has gone on for this to be a coincidence. If the "notched" effect has never been used on a pickaxe, what made them decide to do it now?

    It couldn't be that there was a lawsuit between both companies and that the pickaxe is the most iconic object in minecraft...no, that's preposterous :rolleyes:

    posted a message on Minecraft: RC2 Full Analysis - Updates and NEW Sounds [Video]

    • bow- needs a sound for the draw back and the whoosh sound needs to be sharper
    • cactus damage- nice
    • chest- nice
    • eating- pre-update was better
    • exp orbs- pre-update was better
    • explosion- pre-update was better
    • fall sound- I like it, but it needs the original sound added to it (legs break + grunt)
    • fishing rod- no splashes?
    • iron/wood doors- both great except for that squeek near the end of the sound files (dunno how much of that I can take)

    Overall, I would say I'm a little disappointed by this. I really wasn't getting a minecraft vibe from some of the sounds; they just felt out of place.
