How long you have been playing Minecraft: Since the very beginning. Back when it was just classic ;D
What is your specialty? (Builder, PvP, Monster Hunting, Redstone Engineering, etc...): I'm mostly a miner, but I'm more into aesthetic building. I make sure my buildings look nice before I jump into adding advanced machines. I personally am not into the whole, make 9x9's everywhere. I using build my own lab, or farmhouse, every server is a new unique build for me =]
What (if any) experience do you have with the mods in the Direwolf20 mod pack: I've played with all the mods back when they first came out, or back when they were in the first or second versions of the mod. I mostly prefer IC2 and Redpower, I am a huge fan of portal gun (but then again, who isn't ;D)
Have you ever been banned from a minecraft server before? If yes, Explain: Nope nope, I'm pretty good at following rules.
Just a little more about myself: I tend to jump around server to server, only because when I join I tend to find issues with the community. Meaning that I don't always feel welcome when playing on someone else's server. I don't necessarily want to jump into huge community projects, and resource sharing, but for the most part came on so I have someone to talk to when I play and when I'm built up have no problem sharing. Most of my friends arn't into these huge tech mods, so I'm looking for people who are, and like to talk. If not, I mean If I wanted to build by myself and not talk to people I would just play SSP. Hopefully this server will be a good fit for me. I like this modpack quite a bit. I do work 22-27 hours a week and have school. I can't be on 8 hours a day, but I can be for about an hour or 2 each day.

Jan 25, 2013When you launch FTB, theres another window that launches with the game. Its an error log. Make sure all the mods you want are installed, and then copy that log file. There should be a button that lets you do that. Upload them to pastebin, and either put the error on the FTB support site (http://desk.feed-the-beast.com/) or on here. I can do my best, but It could be any number of things. If you do post it here make sure to put them between spoiler tags.Posted in: Java Edition Support

1 star out of 1,240 lifetime reviews, either warranty problems or poor customer support, and that is just dell, shall we try HP? http://www.resellerr...Hewlett_Packard 1.47 star, wow thats pretty bad
why not check actual reviews from customers and not some biased sites mmkay?
and paying more for warrantys? explain why dells is 2 year compared to 5 year or lifetime on the self built, and which is easier to ship a GPU or a entire 20 pound PC?
To be fair, I have yet to see any large company get more than a star on that website. Asus, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, Sony all have 1 star and have 10-10000 reviews. I'd probably look at sites that review products on a product base rather than a company base. I feel that each company has its own thing. I think HP makes great printers, I wouldn't buy any other. Dell makes decent/affordable student laptops that also let you use a student discount. Asus makes quality computer components for building computers, and make decent/affordable gaming laptops. Acer makes cheap/longer lasting monitors (I mostly see schools use Acer Monitors, as they get a really good discount buying in bulk). They all have their benefits, and to say one is absolutely horrid is unfair.
Just in my experience as a computer repair technician alone, I would avoid HP laptops, they overheat and have other issues. If you want something that will last you awhile, I would avoid brands such as Dell, Acer, HP. If you are a student who needs a laptop for word-processing and web-browsing, I think its okay to get a Dell, /possibly/ an HP. Asus makes affordable Entertainment/Gaming laptops and before the one I'm using now, I had an Asus that lasted for 6 years and is being used as a home server now. Lenovo is a good leader in business laptops. And if you are going to go with Desktops I always recommend building your own. Cheaper, you get what you want, and better warranties.
Basically, everyone is a brand loyalist. We've all had one product that has lasted us forever and therefor we feel some loyalty to it. I had an Apple MacBook Pro. It has given me the worst headaches and I put well over 1200 in repairs/accessories into it. I swear I'll never buy one again. Then again, I have a friend who has been using apple successfully for 10 years. I had a dell Inspiron. It was great for when I was in school, and for school projects. It lasted 2 1/2 years, basically all I needed it for and took the abuse I dealt out to it. My sister had an Acer laptop. It lasted for 3 weeks, got fixed, lasted for another month. I've personally dealt with each of these brands. At the end of the day. Read reviews on the products. Lots of them. Buy the one you are most comfortable with (review/price wise, I usually try to get the ones that will give the most bang for my buck) and hope for the best. Nothing will ever be perfect.
Jan 25, 2013Go to control panel > uninstall Java. Go to java.com and reinstall java. Make sure to get the 64-bit version if your running a 64-bit operating system. Make sure you only have ONE version of java installed. Then try again. It sounds like a java error to me.Posted in: Java Edition Support
Jan 25, 2013HP makes decent EliteBooks (business laptops) but I've found they tend to overheat, have poor quality parts, and overall poor customer service. Working as a freelance computer repair technician, and for a few computer repair businesses, we usually try to convince people not to buy HP, Acer, or Dell (also, we severely recommend not getting Compact or Gateway, or any off-brand laptops).Posted in: Computer Science and Technology
We mostly recommend Lenovo and Asus. These manufacturers provide much more quality parts, are priced fairly, and have overall good customer service. They usually have decent warranty plans also.
I've never really worked with Samsung or Sony laptops, they may be decent, but I've always been a huge fan of Asus personally.
EDIT: I do think HP makes decent printers. I've never had an issue with mine, and I have a few friends who are still using their 10 year old HP printers. Just the computers that HP make are not worth the hassle.

Thanks. I used to be very knowledgeable about the game and kept up with the updates, but I didn't have much opportunity to play last semester and need to re-learn all of the oddities.
Its all good. Most of the community will happily supply you with the answer without too much effort. =) Enjoy the new updates!

Also, not cool. Not everyone devotedly follows minecraft like a religion. Its a simple google search, and you would find it was in fact added in 1.4.2 (noob =p).

What part of minecraft are you best at? (redstone, building, etc.): I like to mine, build aesthetic structures, and incorporate as many mods into my structures as possible. I build quite a few machines, original to myself.
Why you wanna be on this server: I like all the mods, and I've been looking for a DW20 modpack server, this being the first I've seen, and most popular
Can you take a joke?: Always
What's the best way to get in contact with you if you are accepted? You can PM me here, I don't ever use my skype, but you can contact me on steam if you'd like: salkcin_drowsluos
Will you be recording on my server? I will consider it. I've always wants to start an LP, and I do have the equipment to do so.

How long have you played Minecraft for: since alpha sometime
Do you have experience with mods like these: I've been playing with most of these mods since their birth.
How old are you (don't lie): 20, 21 in january
What made you apply to this server?: I love FTB, I was running my own server for awhile, but my friends became disinterested. So I shut down mine in favor of making some new friends.
Dec 5, 2012Please don't host your screenshots through adfly, you arn't providing a service. I understand adflying your download link, but I shouldn't have to wait 5 seconds to look at what might end up being a poorly constructed underground dirt hut.Posted in: MCPE: Maps
Nov 25, 2012I personally recommend Asus laptops. They are pretty high quality. If you planned on spending the money for a MBP, then you should have no problem getting an Asus G74 or G75. I personally recommend this one: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-G74SX-DH73-3D-17-3-Inch-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B005PAJIGC/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1353899970&sr=1-3&keywords=asus g74sx. Good processor, decent amount of RAM, and a Nvidia 560 graphics card.Posted in: Hardware & Software Support
You could go for a G75, but I havn't heard good things about the 600 series graphic cards. The 560 will do everything you need. If you don't need that much power I recommend the laptop I'm using currently. The Asus N53SV. Once again, good processor, decent amount of RAM, and a 540 graphics card that does everything I need it to do. http://www.amazon.com/N53SV-DH71-15-6-Inch-Versatile-Entertainment-Aluminum/dp/B005PAK20S/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1353900158&sr=1-4&keywords=asus n53sv
Oct 30, 2012I'm going to assume you have an NVidia Graphics card. Right click your desktop > Click Nvidia Control Panel > And under the 3D settings tab and on "Adjust Image Settings with Preview" click "Let the 3D application decide" or "Use the advanced 3D image settings", If you set yours to quality manually, it will display those awful blue lines. Hope this helps, and hope you have an nvidia (i dont know how to do this on AMD graphics card. ahaha)Posted in: Java Edition Support
