why would you even base it purely on graphics power??

Ace was saying that you could run it fine on 1080p.
It may be playable for you, but 25-30 fps on those settings is not what I would call "fine", that's more like barely playable.

Throw in an Optifine, and I think i'm good.

I have my doubts about SRTT, though...

Could you please stop spreading bullsh all over this place?

You will not run minecraft in any playable way with a computer like that. You can forget running anything on 1080p. Both your cpu and graphics card are very low end.

I don't know what your definition of "playable" is, but i got a solid 25-30 fps on Minecraft with fast graphics, no smooth lightning and about 6 chunks of viewing distance. May not be ideal, but it's playable for me.

I think I may be wrong, it's just Intel HD Graphics. Either way, it's not going to run GW2 well, if at all.

    Okay, then.
What is the most demanding game you think it could run? If every setting is at low, what would be the most demanding it could run?
And by run i mean about 30 FPS. It would be nice to know for further reference.

Also, whilst searching for what graphics card I have, I read that It's and Intel(R) HD Graphics chip made specially for my computer. Sort of a custom thing. It read it in a post from and admin on the Intel forums, i believe, but that's the only place i read such a thing.

From what I understand, you have HD 2500 so yes, it is worse.

I've been trying to find out what my card is for about 2 hours now.

How did you reach the conclusion that it is a 2500?

Not very well, no. (If at all)

The min req's say at least a Intel(R) Graphics 3000, so does that mean my card is worse than a 3000, then?

    Seventh, the mobile version.

Hm. That doesn't seem too bad. At least when compared to my previous card.

Think I could run Guild Wars 2?

It's just Intel HD, the lowest end model.

Your new processor is about equal, or slightly faster. The graphics chip is quite a bit better than the old one, but still quite slow, even for a laptop. Memory isn't a big deal, although having 4GB instead of 3GB might be useful.

That's good to know. I know i have a graphics chip in the Intel HD Graphics series, but the Dxdiag just says
Intel HD Graphics Family, so i'm not sure which chip it actually is.

You're running a laptop with a Intel brand "Celeron" class CPU that runs internal "Intel HD" Graphics. Your laptop is pretty low end. I assume it was ~$300 new, or a used one for even less. You may be able to run minecraft on lower settings, although you won't be playing Crysis 3 at 4K any time soon.

Could you compare the specs of my new computer to my old one, which is:

    Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4400 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz

    Memory: 3072MB Ram

Display Chip Type: Mobile Intel (R) 4 series express chipset family

And i'm not sure which HD graphics card i have. From what i've seen it goes from 1000-4000. Mine just says family...

I recently got a new computer, and i'm not sure what the specs mean exactly.

These are the specs i got from dxdiag:

    Processor: Intel® Celeron® CPU1007U @1.50Gz (2 CPUs), ~1.5GHz

    Memory: 4096MB Ram

    DirectX Version: 11

    Display:

    Name: Intel® HD Graphics

Chip Type: Intel® HD Graphics Family

    Device Type: Full Display Device

That was the info I think is relevant. Would someone care to explain to me what these specs equate to performance wise?

Also, i'm not quite sure what my Graphics Chip is, exactly.

I recommend keeping Norton because it actually got rid of a RAT. A RAT for crying out loud. But if you honestly want to switch then switch to AVG amazing product

I think i'll keep Avast for now, as I've noticed an increase in performance with it.

I'm having a problem with Avast. When I run a full system scan, it runs really slowly. It's been running for about an hour and it's at 1%. Doesn't say number of files scanned.
When ran a full system scan with Norton it finished in about 3 hours, and it had scanned about 1.2 millions files.

I did a search about it, and some people said that having another antivirus installed with Avast could create conflicts that would slow it down, so i ran Norton removal tool to make sure Norton was fully uninstalled, however it didn't help.

EDIT: This is pretty strange. The scan has been going for about 1 hour and 15 minutes now, and after progressing 1% in an hour, the scan has suddenly gone from 1% to 20% in the last 15 minutes. Does anyone have any idea why the scan is progressing so strangely?

When removing Norton, should i use the Norton removal tool, or Control Panel > Uninstall?

EDIT: I used Control Panel > Uninstall for Norton, and it seems to have worked.

However, when I lost Norton and was about to install Avast, Windows Defender activated. Should i keep it activated, or should i deactivate it, and if so, how?

I just found out that I can get Mcafee paid version for free.
Should i go with that, or Avast?
Also, i'm still not sure about what to do with Avast not having a built in Firewall.
