I went and tried it but for a server. When you load it fails badly and definitely looks like it is looking for a client.

You can still play "real" Minecraft on Windows 10. The original version that uses Java can still be run on Windows 10 just fine and is still being actively developed. You can download it on Minecraft.net.

I've covered this topic before . The constant Forge updates , reflect the latest GIT commit and the reverse engineering of Mojang's latest version ie ... ( 1.8.8 ) , by the Forge coding community https://github.com/MinecraftForge . The latest compile of Forge 1.8 build " x " = 1.8.8 functionality , or a work in progress and could be unstable . The Forge main build version , will always sit on 1.8 , because we compile and DE-obfuscate against MCP 1.8 . Optifine is a Coremod and sp614x must determine , first , a stable Forge version to patch against . If you have noticed a rapid succession of Forge builds , it's a good sign not to use them , as they are unstable . Watch the GIT , not the builds page . Use 1.8-forge1.8-11.14.3.1521 , for now . Hope this sheds some light on the mysteries of coding .TY

That's fine. I only bring it up to let the others know and to let the dev know. I know it is ultimately up to the dev if/when it gets patched to support newer forge releases. That being said I have been compiling my own Forge builds so that I can use it on servers still sitting on old bungeecord builds (the ones released in the gap where Forge was already sending a FML identifier but bungeecord error'd out with a mis-leading message not knowing how to handle it). I can't build anything older than 1523 for reasons unknown to me beyond the fact that the build system crashes part way through (can't even run gradlew setup). Newer builds are fine though so it seems something got fixed along the way.

    Progress:
    - OptiFine for 1.8 is updated to F5 (latest for 1.8.8)
    - curently fixing compatibility with Forge #1543 and compatibility between Forge and Shaders

    - a preview may appear next week

Great news. I'll be waiting for it.

Looks like Optifine 1.8 breaks on Forge builds starting with 1523. Any fixes available for this issue?

Edit: Last working build is 1521 as far as compatibility with Optifine is concerned.

I can confirm this as well. Starts with 1.8 build 1474 and for those on 1.7.10 it starts with 1469

The issue appears to be one of these commits. Likely the last one however the java argument doesn't allow Optifine to load (possibly because it is a tweak).

LexManos: Create config folder in SplashProgress if it does not exist.
LexManos: Add the stitching allocation stage to loading screen.
    LexManos:
Make TextureMap for items and blocks skip the first pass of loading/stitching textures.
Should decrease loading times for large packs.
May cause issues with some mods so use -Dfml.skipFirstTextureLoad=false to disable.

posted a message on Shaders Mod (updated by karyonix)

Ok... So I use Xaero's Minimap. Now before you go and yell at me and say that I shouldn't be posting this here read the rest of this message too...

His last update broke bad on Optifine D3. He came up with a workaround though which worked around the render issue on his mod.

Go to Video Settings -> Performance. There turn off fast render.

For this mod you will need to disable shaders (make it not load) while you do this since the menus gets messed up on D3 with shaders mod installed. However once you toggle that off you can restart minecraft and re-enable shaders (let it load). At this point shaders will work and you will be running Optifine D3. I've tested and verified this.

Please be aware: This is only a workaround!

I'm hoping that this may allow the maintainer of this mod to find a proper fix for his mod though.

It is possibly related to this Optifine changelog entry for D3 (D2 works fine without workarounds)

     - extended option Fast Render with new optimizations: ON = FPS + 10%

So... I wonder what they did there... Anyways I didn't do a thorough check around however I saw the menus looked 100% better so a general assumption is that it may take care of any other issues as well.

Guys, I have a temporary solution for you. Go to Video Settings -> Performance -> Fast Render -> Turn it off and restart the client.

I'm working on a permament fix right now. Not sure if it's even possible because Optifine disables FBO's thinking it's cool.

Thanks. I can confirm that the workaround works. I look forward to a proper fix later on but this will work for now. :)

EDIT: By sheer luck you found a workaround for another mod that has a huge note on their forum post that says it incompatible with D3 as well (one part is that custom fonts get wonky). I'm going to mention this over there too... Maybe that will help them fix it. :)

GPU mode is broken when trying to use it with Optifine 1.8.0 HD_U_D3. Both D1 and D2 work fine though. Safemode works with D3 but obviously that negates the performance improvements by using the GPU instead.

This is what I get on Optifine D3 when I test. Using the current 1.5 release.

    Hi,

I have noticed that while using a 64 bit resource pack (link to the one im using http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/resource-packs/2128869-ragecraft-faithful-64x64) and optifine, all obfuscated chat (&k) causes the whole line of text it is on the giggle back and forth in a very distracting manor. I have tested the resource pack without optifne and the obfuscated problem isn't there. I have also tested multiple 64 bit resource packs and all yield the same results. Regular and 32 bit packs don't seem to have the bug when using with optifine. I am a long time supporter of optifine as well as a donator (zingo13), and I absolutely love your mod. Hopefully the bug won't be too hard to fix.

    Thank you

    You should make a Video/.gif.

However remember that &k text is supposed to look wierd.

I have reported this issue in the past. The issue is in the HD Font handling. If you use MCPatcher you will notice the issue doesn't present itself over there on the same server using the same texture pack. A workaround is to turn of HD Fonts but then the fonts look ugly.

    Quote from Mumfrey»

It's crashing in a spot where macros scans through the control list and replaces the regular keybinding entries with the custom ones. You should check if ichunutil has any options for disabling any tampering with the keybinding list and it will likely fix the problem. I'll see if I can find out why it's not working as expected, ichunutil is open source so when I get some time I can look through the code to see if I can find any clues. Failing that I can also give pig a poke on IRC as he's around fairly often.

I looked and didn't see anything that would allow me to do it. I'm glad you could make sense of what is going on. :)

Ok so I recently installed this mod (or rather re-installed) and I noticed a mod conflict. I'm not sure exactly where it is coming from but OpenEye seems to think it is either in LiteLoader or in Mod Macros and I only need to disable the latter to clear it up.

    OpenEye Report: http://openeye.openmods.info/crashes/1249626db5c99eef1273a101af9929f1

When Mod Macros is installed the game crashes when I hit the O key on the Options screen. It appears to be a conflict with iChunUtils which adds the menu to the Options screen. I attempted to disable Mod Dismemberment and the issue persists.

The good news is it just prevents me from getting to that screen. However I would like to hopefully see this cleared up.

If you need me to do anything just let me know. I'll try to check back on this thread and forum for troubleshooting steps.

Just as a point of reference I tried the following.

    1) Narrowed my installed mod list to Forge (required by iChunUtil), LiteLoader (required by mod_macros), iChunUtil, and mod_macros. I was still able to repro the crash.
    2) Changed to using the Mojang supplied launcher instead of MultiMC (which is in the stack trace at OpenEye) and the issue is still reproducable.

This is reproducable in the options screen in the main menu as well as options in game.
