posted a message on Why would they remove silk touch getting spawners?
    Quote from Sinful

I find it funny that when people say "Man I wish Mojang didn't remove the _______ " people say "Oh stop complaining, it was unbalanced!" or "it didn't fit Minecrafts theme!"

... yet, if someone says "I wish they didn't add Potions and Enchanting!" people shout "Oh stop complaining, just don't use it!!!"

Which is it - more content is good, so "just don't use it"; or less content is good "it was unbalanced."

Lol what? Your argument doesn't make sense to me. Just because you add new content, doesn't mean the game is unbalanced. If its added correctly then it can make the game better and also maintain balance. In the case of potions and enchantments, they were added so you were stronger but also all the enemies are tougher to kill and they are not easy to get.

The game has to be balanced in survival otherwise what is the point of playing it? If you could break every block with one hit and kill every enemy with one punch then the game would be too unbalanced and not be any fun. If Notch thinks something will unbalance the game then he will remove it which he did in this case.

Basically, no one (or very few, atleast) are arguing that no new content should be added because it unbalances the game, they are just saying that some things added were unbalanced. Your argument was far to generalising and basically wrong.

In my opinion, getting monster spawner is a good reward for being lucky and/or patient when trying to enchant a pickaxe and find a dungeon. There is many ideas for using spawners, not only farms, it can be monster arenas, horror decorations for your minecraft resident of evil. Of course it should drop spawner with proper mob type upon breaking. Yes, it should be a way for SMP operators to prevent players from picking up spawners.
P.S. We need an petition or topic in suggestions or something.
P.P.S. Sorry for my bad english, I'm only learning this language.

If you want mob spawners, not pig spawners, the only way to do it is with mods/MCEdit even with silk touch so your argument is completely invalid. Notch would have to want to add the mineable mob spawners and then change the coding for it so that it actaully spawns hostile mobs. This argument is about leaving in the current function which you didnt make an argument for.

posted a message on Why would they remove silk touch getting spawners?
First of all I fail to see how not having placeable pig spawners limits someones creativity, since you can easily breed animals now. In no way does not being able to place pig spawners "limit creativity". I would be really interested to hear what a pig spawner could do that breeding cannot other than just making a pig mobfarm.

Now for the people saying that they want the hostile mob spawners, well as far as I'm aware that is mostly a coding problem. The mob spawners cannot be moved without "forgetting" what mob they are supposed to spawn, which is why they can't be moved by pistons (same as chests and furnaces). For this to happen Notch would either have to change the coding (if even possible) or make it so that when you place the spawner, you can select what mob it spawns.

Personally I dont care if they are added back or not, I just hate the terrible, biased and inherently invalid arguments people make.

I think some people are forgetting that this is a survival game, and so it has to have some balance, otherwise it would be too easy. I think pig spawners would ruin the balance of the survival aspect because you could just make pig mobfarms and have unlimited, no effort food source. If all you care about is building, then use a mod or MCEdit to put your spawners in.

It's not over powered, all food sources are already unlimited, and pig is the worst animal anyways..

You have to work your ass off to get to ~lvl 30 to even have a real chance to get the enchantment, and then you have to find and secure a spawner. Not only that but you need 5 diamonds, and 4 obsidian to even make the table to enchant it, so please tell me why it shouldn't be allowed.

Food is so easy to come by with breeding, farming, and bonemeal, there's no reason they should have taken this out.

Either food is so easy to come by, like you said, then you don't need to move spawners or its hard to get food and therefore being able to move spawners is over powered.

Its not so much why they shouldn't be moved but more of a question of why they SHOULD be allowed to be moved.

posted a message on Slime Spawning
Slimes supposedly have a 90% chance of failing to spawn compared to other mobs even when all the conditions are met. In other words, they spawn a lot less often than other mobs. To get the highest spawn rate you need to make sure that all the caves and ground around the slime spawn room are well lit so other mobs cannot spawn. I have no trouble getting slimes to spawn doing all that

If you want to be technical and go by the definition of cheating, then yes it is, but really its only your opinion that matters, personally I can't see why it would be a big deal but others might.

He changed the coding so that its easier to change the height limit, but you still need a mod to do it, there are no in-game settings to change it.

    posted a message on A 4th pre-release?
I don't understand the dislike of pre-releases. Either you don't like them, and no-one makes you download it so how is it effecting you? Or you like playing with all the new features and therefore you must like the pre-release otherwise why did you get it?

Seriously, how can you say you don't like the pre-releases but still keep playing them? And if you don't play them, how is it affecting you in any way?

This pre-release argument makes no sense to me at all. But that's just my opinion

    Quote from gtrs750

It's mainly the fact that all you see or hear on these forums or from Minecraft YouTubers is 1.9 + content, while I'm sitting here in 1.8.1. I wouldn't mind the actual update, the official update, with everything included, not half of an update, and then complain about everything being buggy.

But if they didn't release any pre-releases you'd still be playing 1.8 anyway.

Essentially the pre-releases are just normal releases except that they just give them different names. They aren't really "half updates" if you compare the amount of stuff they add in each one to previous updates.

If you can't restrain yourself from updating to pre-releases then obviously you like them because you can't wait to play with the new features.

I don't understand the dislike for pre-releases. I don't see the difference between a pre-release and a real update except the manual download and naming. If you don't like getting the buggy pre-releases then just don't download them, no-one is making you do it, and you would be in the same position as you would be in if they didn't release them.

I think that the main reason for the pre-releases is because they are adding such huge and game-changing features that they need a large player base to test all the stuff they are adding so they can remove bugs and see what works and what doesn't.

Basically, if you don't like them, don't download them. I honestly cannot think of any logical reason that they would bother someone.
