I like the pack but it COULD use some work...

Perhaps simplify the cactus, and add more detail to the cobble and obsidian. On another note, the ores look great, and so does the dirt. I also give high remarks on wood items like planks, fences, chests, and ladders.

    :Diamond: s to you

Thanks, and yea some of the really detailed stuff is not mine I just have not gotten around to making those yet. I have however made a new cactus which will be out in the next update and I will also have the red rose and the dandelion done.

Its going a little slower now since my classes just started so I cant give as much time to working on this as I could before.

This is probably done by hand by just copy/pasting textures to make a 2d picture.

Really not that hard from what it seems, but I could be wrong.

I am taking a small break today and decided to put a poll up and get some results on what
I have so far and possibly what I may need to work on more in the future.

Please vote and tell me what you think of it so far, what i may want to change, or what I
    should be working on next.

although I like the idea of categorizing packs into sub forums for simplicity and easy navigation, it would never work realistically. like steelfeathers said, its subjective and would actually create even MORE flame between the two types. we would then have people claiming their pack as simple or realistic and other parties would claim vice versa. and so the cycle would continue, but now over 2 forum sections :tongue.gif:

What i've actually figured out to work the best, is:

for new posts that are either wrongly labeled, or containing improper naming, images, using other peoples images etc etc etc etc, the best thing to do is post ONCE and let it go. unfortunately we all have the nasty habit [i included] of beating a dead horse and in fact, prolonging the amount of time the ****-post stays on the first few pages. if someone has posted a reply which states what needs to be fixed or changed etc etc, dont bother posting the same info, or supportive comments.

    just a thought :smile.gif:

Yea, I guess you are probably right. I am sure their is a way that could work, possible have to have your pack submitted to a group of people who will then look at a few pictures you send them and if it looks like you put some sort of effort into it, let you post it. or i dont know...

To get pics on your thread just upload them to this website http://imgur.com/

Its just like how you upload your pack to mediafire.

Then it will give you a link to your picture an dyou click that add image button, paste in the link and bam. done.

Again, the difference is subjective. And it's more of a gradient than a line. So, technically speaking, there isn't really any good way to separate all packs into two different piles.

Yes I know this, This would be for the creator of the pack to decide, if he/she makes a pack and thinks that it qualifies as a "detailed" pack then they should post it there. BUT if people/mods think that their pack does not qualify as a "detailed" pack then it can easily be moved to the "simple" forum.

You seem to have pasted the wrong stuff with your download link.

Also, I would add some pictures or nobody will download and you might get flamed.

    Best of luck,

What counts as 'detailed' or 'simple' is very subjective. And there's really no point in separating the two into different subforums. People just need to learn to be polite.

Well I always hear people flaming about "simple packs need to gtfo they are taking up all the space, way to many are created blah blah blah"

I hear that same basic complain on almost EVERY 'simple' pack whether its good or bad.

Plus, even if this was not to solve flaming, it would still be useful to have both 'types' separated so that for one, its easier to find what you are looking for. And two, it eases up the amount of posts there would be in both forums and makes it easier for new pack makers to get noticed whether there pack is good or bad.

Everyone has to start somewhere, and if we squish all the nubs off into their own little forum, they'll never learn.

Plus it won't stop people from posting cheap packs or painterly remixes with adfly links in the regular forum.

That is true that everyone has to start somewhere, but some people purposely build simple packs, and a lot of them look really good.

Seperating the 2 forums is just for posting your packs, you can still enter either forum to look for tutorials and what not.

So creating two subforums is in no way making it impossible for new packers to learn, it may even make it easier since its giving them an area to look for the type they want to build.

    ----

Posting painterly or any pack remix will always be impossible to stop unless a mod stops it. But what I am trying to solve is easily solvable and thats the constant flame war that goes on between simple and detailed packs.

I'd say hide all the crummy HD packs away in a subforum. Long live 16x.

Thats what a lot of people would like to say, But, this is a thread thats is trying to solve the problem of flaming.

I believe that there should be a Subforum under the texture pack forum. It could go something like this..

    Simple Texture Packs
A place for any pack that would not be considered "Low-High Detail"

    Detailed Texture Packs
A place for any pack that would be considered "Low-High Detail"

Of course the subforum titles and info text can be changed I am just making an example.

This would probably stop at least 90% of the flaming that goes on and it would be easier
for everyone to find the type of texture packs you are into whether it be simple or detailed
    packs.

This would also ease the congestion of both forums allowing new packs to get noticed easier.

If you support this then please reply with I SUPPORT and to keep this thread bumped to help it get noticed.

LOL. That isn't a reason not to support someone.

You really need to quit flaming people. I can support whoever I want for whatever REASON I WANT.

For instance, in this case, if I did not already have a pack I would put his banner in my sig. why you may ask? Because he is new and trying, yet all of you douche bags keep coming in here and flaming people like the assholes you are because they tried to make a pack and it was not up to your amazingly high standards.

Seriously, people like you should have a whole other forum. Maybe the Asshole Texture pack forum?
