I've started a Tekkit server that anyone can join right now. If you play now and continue to play, you will be added to the white list that will soon be enabled. For now anyone can join. I will listen to anyone who plays and install popular plugins. I cannot manage the server all the time since I have a full time job, so I will be looking for people who'd like to become mods on the server with slightly elevated priveleges, but please don't ask.
SInce I haven't installed any mods and there is no whitelist, there is no guarantee that your builds will be safe, however I will save the world on a regular basis and re import it if the world is destroyed somehow. For the time being, crazy powerful items will be disabled but when the whitelist is enabled, I will allow everything.
For now, the world may restart a lot as I install plugins that I need but the server should be up all the time.
Hello. As you read in the title, I am looking for a server to play on. (Please read entire post)
I want to play on a server that:
0. Has a WHITELIST
1. Is not laggy
2. Has griefer protection (like bigbrother)
3. has an anti cheat plugin (nocheat)
I want a server that feels like regular minecraft. What I mean is, I like to play SSP but it gets boring/lonely. I want a server that focuses on mining and stuff but still has the multiplayer feel.
4. Hopefully has some sort of town.
5. If pvp is allowed, there should be safe areas.
6. Has LWC or some other effective chest protection
7. OPS and Admins that don't hand out free stuff.
8. has Many members that are fun to talk to
9. events and stuff
What you should know about me:
I'm 18 years old. I like to play MC in my spare time. When I'm not doing schoolwork or hanging with my girlfriend, I'm free. Usually that will leave me around 1-4 hours a day, depending. I own a server that is doing quite well. I usually know about common server issues and I can help. But I never wish to become OP, that's why I own my own server.
I have Zombes mod for flying on my own server, and its keybind is P but for some reason, controlling the volume from my keyboard activates it. If I make your "nocheat" spew out errors, its an honest mistake and I'm not trying to cheat.
I understand OP's are busy at times. I also make sure I'll understand the rules to your server. So when kids come and ask stupid questions that they should know from reading the rules, I tend to advise them so you don't have to waste your time with their bull. =P
If I seem like the type of person you want, and your server meets that description, PM me the IP along with details about your server.
To start: (assuming this is craftbukkit)
Worldguard -protect from fire/lavaa and all sorts of stuff
Worldedit -many good abilities. allows you to edit the world. very important.
essentials -many many abilities. it is really "essential"
also, to protect I like:
Izone -easy to use. and its easier than worldguard and supports parent/child protection.
nocheat- mainly blocks like zomebmod and stuff =P
Vanish- to spy on people. OPs only ability. make sure people aren't griefing
Those should be the basics
Good plugin for your players is:
LWC- to lock chests
Some people also say you should have permissions. But I don't use it.
Spend a bit of time configuring all of those and you should have a stable server.
Here's how to fix your problem.First, stop bitching. Don't be a ***** bc of a video game. Now, if you want a server with no rules, start your own. See what it's like to own a server. Perhaps you should even PAY MONEY for your server to be hosted. Build great structures in your SMP server, even towns. Spend hours setting it up and running it.
Make sure you don't add a whitelist or anything bc that would be "stupid" How about you even give everyone OP powers so they can just hack and take the S out of SMP. (survival.)
Well ok, you're done! you've got a boring basically "creative" server. Let's hope nobody chooses to **** your structures up!
Of course, I'm not saying you should actually do this. I'm just saying that you need to actually know what its like to run a server before you can complain about those who do.
Before anything, hello... and I have a few questions :wink.gif:
How many players your server can handle at the same time ? I'm not looking for a huge server, but 20 slots seems to me like a good number between an empty server and something too expensive.
And, more important, do you plan your server to have a long-term map or do you think you will reset often cause of plugin issues ?
I just had some bad experience with a server not supposed to reset and did it twice, destroying our hard work without notice. I just don't want that again !

I will never "reset" the server. During times of plugins breaking and updates, I backup the server (as well as player files). I also make sure EVERYONE knows that any progress they do wont be saved. during the time, I might change the map to a new map and OP everyone so you can just play around until we are back up (that's what I did last time and it worked out fine)
atm i don't know how many players I can handle. we will see.

Currently I allow 10 people to connect But im whitelisting many more to see who is active.
