    posted a message on It's so ironic that villagers have been made so much worse by this update that they're no longer worth dealing with.

    Villagers in 1.14 (Win 10... 1.11.1 is what I am describing)...

    Are WAY better than I have seen them before.

    Normally every village I have seen in the game cycles downward to abandoned with no villagers.

    For the first time I have seen, I have a village that has cycled upward and grown. It started around population 10, and is now at population 45+.

    The different types of villagers make it much more interesting.

    This is a whole side of survival mode I have previously ignored because normally they all simply die off... but this population boom in this village is giving the game a new mode of play to try.

    I have had to:

    - protect the village with a fence and gates.

    - destroy mob spawners I found in caves under it.

    - build 2 dormitories to provide beds for the growth.

    - and now add more trade tables for villagers to work at.

    And they do reproduce... I am seeing plenty of nose to nose heart and child spawning going on...

    (This guy's rant is a bit off base.)

    posted a message on Minecraft 1.14 Update Opinion Thread

    LOL Shnabbles... I ranted about it in another post for days. I even took the crazy amount of time to post before and after examples.

    ALAS... the new textures are in by default... and everyone will tell us... YOU CAN set them differently....

    (Failing to realize like most sheep... that if I can change them... then they could have been left as is, and the NEW textures be optional for those who like the "preschool" as you call it look.)

    Anyways... the new village types, and new villagers... provide enough new coolness to offset the few crappy graphics.

    I was coming on here yesterday to say the Pre-release 5 was playing quite smooth and nice.

    (As I'm running my own server, and client on the same machine.)

    I spent most of Sunday with no problems.

    I just spent a few more hours in the same world updated to the 1.14 release.

    I REALLY like the new village types. I think the "Abandoned Villages" are particularly well done!

    And in this final release... the villagers finally heeded the warning bell and took shelter from the RAID!

    posted a message on Minecraft looks totally different today

    Well... this is going to either teach your son patience... or you and he will be finding a different game to play.

    SOMEBODY at Microsoft/Mojang... thought that it would be "cool" to update and change the TEXTURES... the patterns drawn on every block in Minecraft.

    I saw this a few weeks ago in the "SNAPSHOT" which the Java edition players get a chance to choose to play, to see proposed new features of the game ahead of time. The new texture patterns are SO BAD I signed up to the forums to voice my objection to them.

    It looks like no one listened.

    How they think the carrots and potatoes look "BETTER" is beyond me. And the watermelons... I've NEVER seen a yellow and green striped watermelon.

    So your son and my son, and myself, and ALL the other people who had NO PROBLEM with the "old" textures... now are STUCK with these badly designed patterns... until Microsoft / Mojang decides to change them back.

    You and your son COULD buy a license for the Java version... then on a computer... you can play any of these old versions found archived here:

    https://mcversions.net/

    But the Windows 10, Xbox, phone PE, etc... versions... those are all tied to the "official" release of Minecraft and are subject to the whims of whomever is making the business decisions at Microsoft / Mojang.

    Sorry this won't be any comfort for your son... but this is what happened.

    posted a message on So what do you guys think about the new 1.14 textures?

    Apparently Minecraft is controlled by Microsoft... because it is common practice at Microsoft to roll out interface changes THEY think are better when in fact for the millions of people using their products, they WERE NOT NEEDED.

    ++++

    ADD the "Meh" votes and the "I don't like" votes... and together we OUTVOTE the "Like" votes.

    ++++

    1.) They are CARTOONISH... BAD cartoonish.

    2.) Apparently no one appreciated the amount of effort the PREVIOUS texture designers put into making the blocks NOT appear like a regular repeating grid of squares. Because NOW everything is an OBVIOUS REPEATING pattern.

    3.) YOU PEOPLE BETTER consult with your MARKETING FOLKS... because ALL THE OFFICIAL MINECRAFT MERCHANDISE uses the OLD textures. And as a parent... it STINKS when having a kid want something that looks like his game... ONLY NOW...

    a.) it won't be available

    b.) we're going to end up with a stupid mish-mash of old and new textured merchandise which will make Minecraft in the REAL WORLD look like a JOKE.

    ++++

    One reason people LIKE this game... is because of how it looked.

    I know you are working on the ability of putting more higher-res graphics in as a CHOICE...

    DEFAULT textures should look like your MERCHANDISE...

    CARTOONISH TEXTURES should be a CHOICE...

    ++++

    YOU SHOULD DO what Microsoft doesn't normally do... LEAVE the OLD textures... and give us the OPTION to CHOOSE the new textures.

    And if you want REAL VOTES... ask us if your software can send back USAGE and count how many times people choose OLD vs. NEW.

    ++++

    AND YEAH... I think they are SO BAD... I took the time to sign up with Twitch and come in here and comment!
