I've made small mob traps that include a minefield of logs on fire. It works, trust me. This just makes it so widespread that they can't get to you and die way faster. :smile.gif:
(1) Rainforest Biome
(1) Workbench
(1) Iron
(1) Flint
and your "W" Key + Turning your head towards loot
Step 1
Find Rainforest Biome
(No before pic, sorry...)
Step 2
Craft Flint and Steel
Step 3
Light one Tree on fire, more when fire stops spreading if you wish
(No before pic, sorry)
Step 4
Admire view :smile.gif:
NOTE: This is as bright as day during nighttime. Animals WILL spawn for dying :smile.gif:
Step 5
Some animals will not be already dead or on fire. On your picking up routes, just hit them into a tree that is on fire, they dont even have to reach the top where the fire is. They die before your eyes muahahaha
Step 6
Watch animals die
Step 7
Walk around and pick stuff up! It will be lying around for you EVERYWHERE!
TADAA!
Now, please understand this thread is a joke. I meant it to be a joke when I was screenshotting.
However, the fact of the matter is that I came away with this in 5-10 minutes of just walking around.
That being said, this is one of the easiest looters, most convenient things I have found in Minecraft to date.
Let me show you the broad scope of problems this mass fire provides:
1. Loot
You get so much stuff from these guys, its not even funny. Its sad actually watching chickens die just as they lay their egg for you to protect...and eat in a future crafting recipe....before they die.
2. "Day"night light
A fire this widespread causes a large area of your world to be covered in light during the darkness, where mobs pretty much can't spawn anywhere. What if they do? They have a minefield to go through. Collect their stuff on your rounds!
3. It is a renewable resource.
Want wood? Chop one down. I'm sure you can find saplings on your ventures in some areas. Create an underground sapling farm for that matter. Grow your trees outside for wood, it instantly gets rid of the leaves once it grows, and it has enough light to grow fast. Once it is grown, it lights on fire, and provides more loot.
So, I personally think this is actually useful, however dumb it might look....or however much it might contribute to global warming.
Thoughts?
PS: I'll be unrolling a minigame with this idea soon enough :smile.gif:

And its not when I'm on fire, trust me...its when you just come into contact with it.
To recreate my conditions, I'm walking from cobble onto a log from a same-level surface with 1/4 leather armor on.
Peace :wink.gif:

Nah, I don't record my personal world ventures :smile.gif:

I have a forest. I don't think I'll be taking 4 hours to chop all those logs down in one day :smile.gif:

My small brain never thought of that...
Well, then think of this as the "Insta-Mob Killer"
Sure did the trick for me :smile.gif:
And yes, I'm totally with you, I hope that gets fixed.
