    posted a message on THE ORIGINAL! ::Desert Temple Guardian:: {{Day1625+}} NEW IMAGES! 11/8/2016
    Ah, I had this idea a while ago, good to see someone's working on it!
    I was thinking we needed something like those Dwemer Centurions in Skyrim, but Iron Golems are neutral/utility.

    Also, along with this, I'd suggest for larger temples and pyramids. Something more stronghold-esque in nature, with twisty turns and traps lying in wait. You know, for more Indiana Jones-ish adventures. And, of course, the Golden Guardians (I like this name better) would be there to protect the Pyramids. I dunno about the jungle temples, though; I suppose there would be more traps in those, and more monsters in the Pyramids.

    Anyways, fund it! I gusta!

    posted a message on Spawning Ender Crystals
    Quote from vexx32

    You could probably change the entity it spawns fairly easily (e.g. make a Creeper egg spawn an enderdragon instead), but making it spawn an object instead would probably require some extra coding.

    It's not an object.
    Look on the wiki; it's an entity.
    If you were an OP, you could give yourself a spawn egg.
    What I'm talking about is modifying the client jar to spawn it in SMP.

    I noticed that on a friend's server who didn't have the latest snapshot, I was still able to use spawn eggs.
    And the same applied later, when it was a higher version, and I could still get on agter redownloading the jar.

    That being said, it seems that the spawn eggs allow anybody in creative to spawn entities.
    Would it be possible to mod the client-side jar to spawn something different (e.g. Ender Crystals) by modifying what a certain spawn egg spawns?
    Like, could I take the mooshroom egg and replace its value with the Ender Crystal's and be able to spawn it?

    These mods are so great.

    However, where is the Recipe Book? I don't see it on the page.

    Also, how am I the only one to get this reference (assuming it is one)?

    Truthfully, I haven't seen the code but your idea sounds great. It is freeware so you cant sell it =P, but that sounds awesome.

    First of all, thanks much.

    Second, I had planned for it to be freeware anyway. Open-source, too, to continue the "trend".

    posted a message on The Potential of 'Prelude of the Chambered'
    *Note: I didn't find any place else to put this considering assorted Notch games are not technically Minecraft-related.

    Most of you have probably played or heard about Notch's new game, Prelude of the Chambered, that he created for the Ludum Dare.

    I loved it, and downloaded the source to take a look at. I have almost no Java coding experience, but even I could understand most of the code. From looking at it, it's pretty user-friendly. What's even better is that instead of using some complex code for generating the maps, he uses Paint.NET to make the maps, so it's incredibly easy to pick the color of a certain object (such as a treasure chest containing a Pistol) and plop it down somewhere else. Therefore, making an entirely new game using the "Prelude" engine would be simple.

    In the script for each level, it simply has two values for the ladder block; 1 and 2; which determine the essentially 2 ways to go: up or down.
    This is a snippet from the "Prison" level:
    	public void switchLevel(int id) {
    		if (id == 1) game.switchLevel("overworld", 1);
    		if (id == 2) game.switchLevel("dungeon", 1);
    	}

    Now, that's assuming 1 and 2 are just fixed values. If they represent only the first or second ladders, you could have 3 or 4 instead.
    That and switching out the enemies and wall color would allow you to create a whole new level set for PoC.

    However, for advanced coders, you could also add new items coded in and replace existing ones, add a "daytime" overworld, NPCs, and cutscenes for a "story".

    I'm planning to make a game based off the "Prelude Engine" once I get some Java coding up my sleeve.

    What do you guys think about it, if you've seen the code? I'm beginning to be afraid this is just a rant about my love affair with a relatively simple game.

    posted a message on Roblox Vs. Minecraft
    I used to be on Blockland before this (surprising how no one hears about it anymore...) and this is almost the exact same thing that happens there.

    It's the community of a game that really makes it good. Games like Minecraft, TF2, and the non-nine-year-old portion of games like COD are good games because they have a great community and a good design to facilitate a community. The players also have to be mature and to understand the game and know its quirks.

    Roblox seems to have no soul and its community is a sh**hole because the population are autistic 7-year-olds who want to play with Legos with other people*.

    But to those 7-year-olds, Roblox is fun because there are others like them. And the animation style and overall content of it makes it appealing to them. But when they get older, they'll hate on it and leave.

    So, depending on who you are, either game is good.

    *No offense to autistic 7-year-olds who enjoy Legos.

    posted a message on Sketchy-type Texture Pack?
    Basically, I'm asking if there are any minecraft texture packs that look like they are from a sketchbook.

    Like, not just hand-drawn, but greyscale (with corresponding grass textures and sky textures), possibly with the red and blue lines of notebook paper.
    Something that looks like someone drew the Minecraft textures on a sheet of notebook paper in the middle of U.S. History.

    If not, I'd volunteer to make it. Especially so that toon shaders can be used to make it look like people are in a notebook.

    Have I understood this correctly if I claim that ModLoader doesn't work at all with OSX?
    I just get a black screen after logging in.

    I'm on OSX 1.5.8

    Same here. Except when I tried it on a separate account on the computer, it worked. I installed ModLoader and the CoralReefs mod and it worked, but it gives me blackscreens or a halfway-black "done loading" screen.

    posted a message on Modloader hates my screen (Mac)
    So, as I have put in before here (to not much help), Modloader would not work for me. I tried everything, including deleting EVERYTHING, and even doing complicated manual ways.

    Then, while setting up Minecraft on another account on my computer, it worked fine and it now has about 5 mods on it. (All but one work, not sure why.) When using the same strategy on my account, it doesn't work. I still get either the black screen or getting stuck with a half *Done Loading* screen. What is wrong and why? I recently backed up everything and redownloaded Minecraft. It still didn't work.

    After doing research, the one mod that doesn't work is a mod that uses the "mods" folder inside the .minecraft folder.

    Is the reason because I simply need to install modloader first, start up the game, and then go back and add the mods, or is it a mac-centric or some other problem?

    posted a message on Port Forwarding manually on Mac
    Actually, no, that wouldn't work either, as it is a problem with the router, not the computer. I need to find out how to port forward using a U-Verse router, which doesn't support the communication protocols that automatic port-forwarders do.

    BUMP FROM INFINITY AND BEYOND

    I had Ubuntu on an old laptop that had -PLENTY- of RAM, but the battery died.

    If I can get it running, that would work well, but I wouldn't play on it, as it has the processing power of a loaf of bread.

    EDIT: Other problem. It's PPC, so one of the jar files that runs Minecraft hates PPCs that run Ubuntu. The server software might work, but I doubt it.

    If I can't, then what should I do to get a normal one running on my desktop?
