posted a message on How many hours of sleep do you get a night?
About 8 on average. 10 when I can have a good lie-in, and 6-7 when I have to be up for morning lectures.

posted a message on Magic Wands!
Interesting, but doesn't appeal to me as a player just yet. Such an item as part of a more well-rounded magic mod would probably entice more interest. It does look fun, and with it's own texture would likely be fun to use.

I'll stick to my Tekkit/Vanilla preferences for now, but this has merit, and I'll keep an eye out for more on this.

posted a message on There is no use arguing about what should and should not be implemented into the game...
Not sure what my stance is on this. Sometimes I feel that people wave their grandad rights without it adding anything to the conversation. On the whole however, it doesn't really bother me.

"So you've been playing since alpha? Good for you." At which point I carry on with my day.

Pumpkin, melon, carrot and potato seeds should be random drops from tall grass, like wheat is right now.

Absolutely agree with this. It would both add realism and provide a nice bonus when clearing plains of grass. I personally would like it if only certain crop seeds were found in certain biomes, so finding certain seeds would be an extra challenge. This would also give players more reason to explore the map surface, and may find interesting terrain generation in the process.

posted a message on Beacon not worth it?
I've got so many iron blocks, it's going to be really good to actually build something useful with it all! Tools and armour are all well and good, but having a beacon of the stuff sends a message. Message being: I can afford to use this stuff on this beacon that does only minor buffs because heck, it was sitting in a chest rotting anyway.

posted a message on Is Minecraft "Dead"?
This whole post is a big head scratcher. The only line that seems crossed here is your personal line. Developers gonna develop. Players gonna play, maybe not all players will play, but that's their, and your choice to make when the time comes.

Life goes on. If Minecraft is no longer for you, move on. Don't bash something that's changed because you don't like it anymore.

I have never seen a spider jockey in nearly a year of playing. Not as long as the hardcore fans of Minecraft but still...

posted a message on Why do people think that witches and bats don't fit?
I really like the bats, and can't wait to see them in game with the next update.

I feel witches are getting a disproportionate bad rep, but I think is is partly due to their implementation in the game. The way the developers have made them means they are a mix of being a uniquely minecraft mob (they way they look and use potions, think endermen, blaze, ghasts etc) and a creature that we have preconceived ideas about in terms of behaviour (like zombies, but in this case, the existing idea of behaviour is simple, and works in the developers favour). I do really like the way the witches work, but I think they could be marketed better.

Bats are exactly what we'd expect them to be, and therefore most people are happy with them. Witches however are neither what your average player thinks a witch would behave like, or different enough for this not to make a difference. Simply put, if witches were instead called hags, would people think differently about them? I'm pretty sure I would. The word witch makes me picture J.K.Rowling's interpretation of witches, and there's a lot going on their in terms of characterisation. However, with hags, there's much less high profile stuff on them, and less for me personally to associate with them.

posted a message on Tool Repair Changes?
This is an ideal modification to the existing repair system, making repairing both more costly, but ultimately more rewarding. Can't wait to try it out in-game!

In single player, I'm a miner, but on my server, I'm more a builder, or architect.

posted a message on whats something fun to do in minecraft after playing it for over a year?
Run your own server if you haven't already, and play with someone else. It's the only way I play anymore; it keeps the game fresh.

posted a message on What have you done recently?
While it's not finished, the current project on my server is definitely the most ambitious one to date.

We are setting up a chest minecart distribution and collection system connecting to every biome and base we have, with the main hub at our main storehouse near spawn. The idea being that it is possible to send a minecart to every place that we would ever be, and to recieve one from anywhere, all on one incoming track. Since the release of writable books, it's very easy to know where each minecart comes from. We've run out of gold for the time being, so progress has halted until we either mine more, or finish building the zombiepigmen farm.

posted a message on I think minecraft is boring. (Please don't kill me...)
I very rarely play minecraft alone. My bf and I run a private sever, and we often play together. Having another person there with different ideas on how to play keeps the game very fresh for me.

When I play on my own, I feel like there's no purpose to what I achieve. Playing together with someone keeps things interesting :)

posted a message on Trouble connecting to friends minecraft server
I'm also getting this problem connecting to my private server, my bf can connect fine as he's the host, and when I start a server with a copy of the world file I can connect and he can't.

We are using portmap to forward our ports.
