posted a message on Save data corruption problem
i also had a corrupted save issue, but i did not save and exit while saving. i did save and then went to check on a psn message i had received. when i had returned it took me to offline mode and i exited, hoping to reopen my world in online mode.

i was crouching on a ladder at the time. there was one other person on my map when i was kicked to offline.

i recall that 4j did a good job fixing the save corruption issues with the ps3, even the blue sea and stars corruptions which were less common. i'm hoping that the world i put so much time building on can be fixed.. for now, i guess i stop playing mcvita.. i'll try it again when my save is no longer corrupted. last time (ps3) it took over a month to get the saves working again by which time i had moved on and put huge amounts of time into a third map (after 2 corruptions). i never returned to the first two games and still think about those maps with disappointment.

i should have known better than to think the game would function this close to release. perhaps by december the game will be playable without the save corruption frustrations.

i had a save corruption issue mar 18..

again i have the blue bottom half of the screen and stars on the top half.

i don't care about diamonds.. it's the building. losing the building sucks.

4j, i don't care about texture packs or skin packs.. i want to not lose countless hours of building.

is there any chance these save files can be recovered? i heard some people got their games back after the last patch, but the original blue and stars file i have still freezes the ps3 when i try to load it.

i don't mind that minecraft is the only game i play that regularly freezes my ps3 every couple hours of play.. or that the chat is as horrible as it is on MCx360 without the option of party chat. i don't even mind having to rapidfire the craft button to make bookshelves and bread instead of holding down the craft button for mass crafting.

losing hundreds of hours of building.. i mind that.
i'll try the game again after the next patch. hopefully the corrupted save issue has been looked into again.

the game should not have been released like this.

when playing multiplayer the system freezes.. it happens in different ways..

usually the voice chat is still enabled when the controls are unresponsive.. it seems to happen just after an autosave.. before the crash blocks become unresponsive (i often play as host, i imagine things are extra laggy for the guests.) you can break a series of blocks, but they don't become items you can gather up. animals won't move.. chests won't open, crafting tables won't respond.. these things happen to various degrees, usually there is some indication things are not going well.

if the crash happens ingame, the onscreen action will freeze.. if you decide to save or exit when it's obvious things are bad, it will happen on the autosave/exit screen.

sometimes you have access to the xmb menu, sometimes not. if you do not, a hard reset using the power button is required. if you can access the xmb menu, you can choose to "quit game" which will cause the ps3 to beep and reset itself.

occasionally the xmb "quit game" option funtions normally and quits the game, but if you reload minecraft without restarting, you can expect the buggy/glitchy game behavior to continue. and a freeze is soon to follow.

    =============================

animal farms make the chat laggy and stuttery. possibly also water elevators (even with no mobs). when i move away from the farm, the chat clears up.

everything else i've experienced is pretty minor. thanks for fixing the corrupted world issue!

posted a message on pigmen too forgiving
mc360 had pigmen which remembered you'd attacked their friend long after you'd done it.. it made pigmen hunting dangerous. it made me befriend the pigmen.. i protected them from ghasts.. perhaps i was a pigman, or i wanted to be one.

now, i can see 4 pigmen, attack 1 and be lucky to agro 2 of the remaining 3.. i can give the other one a hug, he's good with me. maybe it's fear... but pigmen know no fear! they charge into lava, off cliffs and into ghast charges to avenge their fallen littermates!

now, i am no pigman. i slaughter them out of contempt, for they have become weak and docile.

help me want to be a pigman again, up the agro.

posted a message on wood block glitch
i saw a bizarre process the other day where an oak block was turned into different looking blocks.

i know there are rules on this forum about discussing duplication glitches, ive seen sand gennie threads shut down.. this is not a dup-glitch, it gives you zero advantage over other players or the environment, it just gives you new aesthetic blocks by turning a previously harvested block into a block which looks different, but acts the same..

can we discuss this topic here?

we only have so many blocks to place, the addition of a half dozen more would be a grand thing!

ive seen a couple of these techniques, one on mc360 and a different one on mcps3. each giving different results. i'd like to have these techniques gathered up somewhere.

posted a message on Corrupted Saves
this bug has caused me to suggest to many of my internet friends to not purchase the game until 4j has time to work out this game breaker. i go so far as to suggest waiting a month or two. there is no assurity that the next patch will fix the save corruption issue.

if i had to deal with this when i first started playing minecraft, i might have been discouraged to the point of not playing. i'd rather have my friends playing a product 'worthy of release' than getting tricked into being a beta tester. i can stomach beta testing as i adore the game. average noobs, it's a crapshoot.

    corrupted save.

    hard difficulty.

i played yesterday with one other person over the net, other than that it's all been solo, never using local splitscreen. the save file was fine yesterday and this morning.

i have been extremely careful not to manually save and to always exit without saving, always using only the autosave.

i was on the overworld. i was fighting 2 spiders when the autosave hit. i may have been in the air, mid jump. i came back with the normal amount of post autosave lag (a bit worse than the 360, but not unplayable), killed the spiders and started charging a skelly. i was about to get the skelly when the system froze. i had a diamond sword, so it all happened pretty fast, straining the system a little, i suppose. after rebooting, corrupted save, i guess that's how it goes..

like many others, i was hunting ender pearls.. (pretty close to having all i needed.)
i got the blue screen and stars.

i wouldn't mind losing out on 15 minutes of progress due to a system freeze, but the corrupted save thing is pretty bad. i would call this bug "game breaking". i'll check back in a couple weeks, but in the mean time i'll definitely advise people to not make the purchase until the corrupted save issue has been worked out.

heh. i paid premium price to be a beta tester.

posted a message on Help W/ Saddles
not sure if MCps3 has this bug too, but MCx360 would have invisible chests in dungeons.. after you torch the spawner, always check the perimeter of the dungeon where a chest should have spawned.. not a common 360 glitch, but i did encounter it..

that said, i have only found one dungeon so far on ps3. it contained 2 chests and no saddle.

don't worry, once you find one, you'll find 5. they're out there.

i'm on that mission right now, too.. i'm looking for dungeons, both for the saddle and to make a sniper duel farm.

posted a message on Why do we have to pay for texture packs?
i get why we have to pay for these, that is not my issue.. i picked up the pack last night to be able to play with some friends. when i finally got in, i asked them, "did i just pay a dollar to remove all of the texture from the blocks?" i get the response, "yeah, pretty much."

after playing with my friends for awhile, i felt like the artists got sort of lazy with pixel arrangement and said, "this could just be one flat color and i would save myself some busywork... oh wait, it's an ore, let's add 3 more flat colored spots. good enough for gov't work. i think it's beer-thirty." i can use the fill tool in MS paint, maybe there's room for me on staff at 4j. this should have been called a "textureless pack". the portal effect is the only exception i make to this diatribe. it looks like someone spent some time to get that effect looking good.

why do you need to own the pack to play with someone else who is playing with it? $$$. the game is identical.. it's block textures that are being referenced on the local machine that make the difference. meh. this is a scam to sell texture(less) packs.. want to play with your friends? "today, that'll be a dollar."

it worked on me once, but not twice. next time i'll know to tell my friends, "hey, switch out of that, it probably sucks anyway if the plastic pack was any indication." and they'll likely say, "yeah, pretty much."

if the textures looked like someone had spent time on them, i would have been much happier with the purchase..

posted a message on PS4, PS3 & VITA Minecraft is coming what do you think?
i'm excited for the ps3 release. i've been playing on xbox for a year or so, but my patience with microsoft draws thin. it took 7 months before i grew tired of paying for gold.

with minecraft on the ps3, i'll be putting off a ps4 purchase for a couple years. i'll let them drop the price and get some games out before i invest in it.

posted a message on Is greifing cyber bullying
    Quote from UpUp_Away95

There are two key factors in getting a bully to back off - Confidence and persistence and a third is maintaining your friendship network. To be confident in yourself, it's probably not the best thing to go so far in defending yourself as to wind up describing yourself as a bully. You can hold onto your own good values and still persistently defend yourself, your beliefs, and your friends.

all i'm sayin is that casey heynes is a hero... and i'd feel the same way if he'd broke that kids leg. years of bullying and no one seemed to care until he tossed that little rat on the ground.

i can tell you from experience that confidence and persistence aren't very effective. however, a good solid elbow to the nose can do wonders to educate a person about your position concerning being physically abused, if spoken language is ineffective. in fact, on that day i went from "bullied" to "not bullied".

in minecraft, all of the solutions available are "deal with it".. all of the backup and invite options work, but make hosting a game a hassle.. and they are all "deal with it" measures. there is nothing you can do to alter the behavior of some spoiled child on another part of the planet.
