Until I get new speakers, i play on peaceful

Speakers or not, if you're playing on peaceful and it's boring then you aren't building enough. Minecraft is essentially a sandbox building game right now; either turn on some monsters to add some risk while you build/spelunk, or decide on something... bigger to build.

One tower? Unless it goes from bedrock to sky and is at least 15x15, it's not big enough.

I'll agree to that man. Clean-slate from this point forward and I'll completely drop any outstanding vendettas.

BUT if someone brings all this up again, I will most likely feel obliged to respond.

I can agree to this truce. Or at least agree to disagree. Regardless, could you keep your fanboys from trying to molest everyone that suggest anything that could be taken as negative next time? (looking at sargunster atm) Criticism should be taken with a grain of salt, and not as a personal attack on the mod. :|

Damn, and here I was thinking you were serious about never posting here again. Too bad.

Seeking a fix eh? No my friend, you just came in here making a blanket statement that the mod was too buggy to recommend to your friends.

That's not seeking a fix man. That's just slamming the mod.

Nah, changed my mind. I decided you weren't an idiot, just prone to insecurity and anger. You seem to let that color everything that you see or do, no matter the intentions of whoever or whatever caused it. I probably just insulted you again, but every one of you inflammatory reactions towards me were based on the first statement. Even though I expanded on them in later posts it didn't seem to matter to you; you were angry and couldn't be bothered.

I still wouldn't recommend this mod to my friends. Wonky block physics, things that don't work as the rest of minecraft appears to, and "bugs" that were intentionally added to your creations tend to suck the fun out of any game.

As an aside, your mod really needs to be separated into two parts: one with mechanical power (+ hemp), and one with the blocks. The whole thing's too bulky as-is.

    Quote from cheechako

And if it is explained in the instructions... oh, that's right, you don't read instructions or OPs. Anyway, I thought you were leaving, to never be heard from again.

The whole situation was starting to infuriate me because I was misinterpreted in later posts because I didn't add enough detail to the first one. And I did read the entire OP before I made any posts; instructions or not, there's still problems.

Dude, both these guys came into the thread today claiming bugs that WERE NOT THERE. This isn't about me coming down hard on people for making suggestions. This was me coming down on them for providing misleading information about the mod that risked to give a false impression of it as somehow buggy and unstable.

BOTH were rude and insulting in how they initially put this forth and I responded in kind. I don't give a damn if they threw in some extraneous compliments, the bulk of each one's message was a harsh and inaccurate critique, and obviously from the way others reacted to them, I wasn't the only one that thought so.

If it looks like a bug, and it talks like a bug, and it works like a bug... even if you put it there on purpose, anyone else is going to think it's a bug. I honestly thought all of those problems were bugs, and still do. Apparently you thought it was insulting that I could think anything could possibly be wrong with your mod. I for one wasn't trying to portray your mod to others as being flawed, but was seeking a fix. You, however, took my words completely the wrong way and then took it upon yourself to chew the crap out of me. That shows a lot about your character; take that as you will.

Also, I think this quote is appropriate here:
An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind.

Ummm...yeah, feel free to just "fix" it by going away.

Well, how rude. I'll take that as implicit permission to decompile your mod and rip it apart until it works in a way that's less stupid.

As for leaving... you won't hear from me again.

Yup, they're all intentional and you could have seen that from reading the instructions in the OP:

-Hemp DOES grow undergroud, it just needs a powerful light-source to do so (like a light block).

-Gear boxes only INPUT from one direction, they OUTPUT towards all the others. If you consider how a mechanical device like this would have to work (it's essentially a differential), and how the system works overall, you'd see this makes total sense.

-The Mill stone is powered from the sides by the hand-crank just to get the player started and because placing it above or below wouldn't work right and/or make sense. It is powered only from above and below by axles because a Mill Stone is a gigantic spinning stone on top of another. It's pretty obvious why you need to run an axle into the top or bottom given that.

-And with the Cauldron, you just threw **** in with your food and it was ruined as a result. Is that really surprising to you? ONLY food is destroyed by that process, not *everything* else as you suggested.

So yeah man, not one bug in the bunch.

So it's all intentional. I considered reading the OP, but after I saw how dark the videos were...

I still have issues with the hemp. It's completely surrounded by light blocks like this and still won't grow:

    :Yellow: :: :Yellow:
    :Yellow: :: :Yellow:
    :Yellow: :YFlower: :Yellow:

If the light source needs to be directly above... eh.

I'd like to make a couple requests, if you don't mind. Feel free to use or ignore them.

Gear boxes: When you place them, have them face in the opposite direction (away from the player). As it stands, if you're building in mid-air you have to go build a bridge around where the box will be, run back and place the box, and then take down your bridge. It's unintuitive, clumsy, and just bothers me that I can't just stick a gear box on the end of an axle.

Mill Stone: Change the texture to make it more obvious why it doesn't work other than up/down? As it stands, I can't see any reason for them not to work, and this is fantasy land. Who says it doesn't run on magic?

Cauldron: Instead of poofing food, mind giving us some rotten food instead?

I've said my piece. At this point it's either you fix it, or I will. :tongue.gif:

Well that was a lot of replies in a short amount of time. I don't consider ModLoader a mod, more of an API for other mods. Obviously I do have it working, or this screenshot wouldn't be possible.

As for bugs... well, here's what I found.

    Hemp: Doesn't grow underground
Gear Boxes: Only work one way
Mill Stone: Doesn't accept axle power from the sides, but accepts crank power from anywhere.
Cauldron: Throwing dung in them makes everything dissapear

There's a couple other things that bother me, but they're obviously intentional. If these are intentional as well... eh.

Nice mod. If it wasn't so buggy I might be willing to recommend it to my friends. As it stands...

And before you ask, yes I did install it correctly. It's the only mod I have running atm.

Notch changed some of the terrain generation code in 1.6. Looks like it's bugging out... especially since you aren't the first one to report this.

    Ooh... hello above-ground cave.

That's been around since... oh, forever? It has something to do with how the cave generator generates caves after dirt but before stone in some areas.

There is already something like this in the mcmmo mod for multiplayer.

While that's nice and all, mcmmo is a bit over the top for a simple tool repair. Plus, it's only multiplayer.

This was an idea I had from this thread. Unfortunately, it appears my speculation was unfounded and completely wrong, but I'd like to hear interest on the matter anyway, as a mod.

What if, instead of losing your tool completely, it turned into an unusuable broken tool. You could take it over to a special anvil with a hammer in your inventory, feed it the broken tool and some related materials, and viola! Repaired tool. I'm not sure on the related materials part though... feeding a diamond pickaxe one diamond to repair it all the way doesn't seem balanced, even if it did want a fresh handle as well.

Also, should the hammer lose durability as well? I know hammers are big blocks of [material] and all... but meh. Maybe the durability increase of a tool should depend on the hammer's material as well?

posted a message on Notch preparing for future tool repair?
I'm not seeing any repair.png, but the slot.png is definitely there, and definitely new as of 1.6. Good find... though who knows what it's for? I'm willing to bet a shiny penny that in 1.7 tools don't disappear when they break... they turn into "broken tools" and you can shove in partial pieces of a tool to repair it. Imagine... diamond pickaxe repairs for 2 sticks and 1 diamond.

Edit: Was looking in my 1.4 backup. slot.png wasn't in it, but wa in 1.5. Ah well.
