I got it working. Somehow my ipv4 address changed. last digit went from a 2 to a 5 somehow, so changing it to a 5 made it work instantly

For about a month, i had set up a server and it was working fine for me and my friend. One day recently though, i went to load the server and it automatically closed itself right away, and the batch file seemed to stop working all on its own, i hadnt messed with anything to cause this.

Deciding it was probably just due for an update, i made a copy of the world and the other important stuff, re downloaded the server, replaced the world folder and all that, and can now open the server again. It does seem to be getting some errors within though:

So the servers running, my batch file that used to work still wont ( so i need a new one for the newest version of java as i just updated it moments ago), but I cant connect.

I checked to make sure the port was still open, and port 25565 is still in my list of port forwards, named minecraft like i set it. I disabled the firewall entirely, that did nothing. went into server properties and it is definitely set to port 25565. Checked if the server was set to the right IP to connect ( it still had the ip of when it did work in there, plus it is still right after double checking).

So truly I dont know why I cant connect. Any help would be great

Sorry if double posting is against the rules but i had 2 updates.

    1. I restarted both the modem and router, that didnt fix it.
2.I also went into windows firewall and made 2 new rules to allow port 25565 on both TCP and UDP, this also did not open it.

    Im really stumped

posted a message on Cant open port 25565
Hey everyone, let me start from the somewhat beginning.

I have a modem/router and a dedicated router. When trying to open port 25565 before, it kept staying closed. I went to a tech forum and someone told me id have to bridge my modem/router and dedicated router. I did this and the port opened fine, and i was finally able to have my friend join my server and play with me.

Now for the next day, today, I go to start the server and it wont even start. I find out the problem is my private and public IPs have changed. I put the new ip in the server, save it, go to my router and delete the old port forward and make a new one with the new ip, and now the server works. The problem now is what my problem yesterday was. Only I can play on the server, nobody else can join. I simplified the problem down to being that port 25565 is not open and i cant figure out how to get it open.

I have norton antivirus whose firewall overtakes windows firewall. I shut off norton firewall, which shut off windows firewall too, and tried to see if the port was open. This still did not solve it. I havent tried a complete modem and router re-start, but I was wondering if anyone knows why I cant seem to open the port now.

Any help is very much appreicated, thanks everyone
