posted a message on [Guide Included] Portforwarding Megathread: Post your Port Forwarding questions here!

    Please help!

Open up task manager, if you ran a server without a GUI it may be running in the background. Check for processes called "javaw.exe" and terminate them.(Make sure you are not running the Minecraft Client, that one is called javaw too)

Do you have any specific error messages that prevents you from running the server?

If possible could you provide us with the console logs? A service like pastebin.com would be useful.

    Hello Toxicle,

Are you running the server on the same port you have portforwarded?

Make sure that you've changed the port on the server.properties file

    server-port=25565

    Should read.

    server-port=24545

Also on a related note I'd suggest you leave the port on default, as the Minecraft client normally tries to connect there, if the server runs on a different one you would then have to specify the port after the IP.

posted a message on Minecraft LAN server without modem or router
    Quote from TheRealBrownFox3

Sorry I'm new to this forum, and it isn't to Mobil friendly. I would really like to hear about how to do it with a cable, although, how cheap can one get a router that can handle around 5 people? :)

Thanks so much for replies quickly! Your awesome!

First off, Welcome to the Forum!

Next up, the router doesn't actually determines how many people can connect at the same time, what determines this is how much memory of your laptop you are willing to assign to the server itself (If you assign too much or have very few memory in it you run the risk of not being able to play while hosting the server, usually doesn't happen unless the server is under very heavy load)

Now absolutely any router will work, if you can plug it into AC and has wireless, it'll work, and again this is only to make it more confortable to play without any cables, the best (Although not quite cheap) I can think of would be some dedicated portable hardware like a Mobile Broadband (Like this ones from Huawei)

With cable you'd need again a router, that is, a way to plug in all the cables in one single, concentrated device, don't know the prices really, but some quick searches in Amazon say that the Mobile Modems (MiFi) are around ~$40ish compared to the routers that are around ~$30

All around I'd suggest plugging in the phone and enable tethering, it doesn't have the best data transfer speeds but it'll do for 5 people on a simple vanilla server, and you'll avoid buying aditional hardware.

    Good luck!

    Quote from Z645

Herro guise. So I have been trying to verify my server for a while now. And it just sits there blank asking me if I want to verify the server.

I've already copy/pasted the code into my MOTD. You can also check by going to the server: dreamcloud.no-ip.org

    I enabled enable-query in my server.properties

    Any more haaaalppp? D:

    Server page: http://servers.minec...servers/6768849

Does the server has a whitelist? The MCF crawler needs permission to access the server if it does.

Thanks for all the help I hope to get! :)

It is possible, I used to play offline in a wireless, offline server using a cellphone's tethering. Although I don't know if the actuamtic LAN detection works with that it is certainly possible to find your local IP address using ipconfig command and hosting the server in offline-mode.

That's one option but if you'd rather not use your cellphone I'd say investing in a cheap router would be the best alternative, it works even if it doesn't have internet, you only need the wireless to transmit data from one laptop to the other

Unless you wanted to connect directly using ethernet cables (Eww cables :P)

    -snip-

Thanks for that testing and detailed writing of it. I find very odd the cases 2 & 3, usually it happens the other way around.

Just to check, are you running the same "run.bat" file for both servers, in the same directory? Or are you using the same bat script on separate directories?

Because I'm thinking that in order for the 3rd console to show up like that you have been using the same directory from one server to try run the second one, which should not be the case in order to run 2 paralel servers.

Now, I'd like if you tried the first 2 configurations again without running the first server, and trying to connect using "localhost"/"localhost:port" or "0.0.0.0:port" That should help us identify if the confguration is being updated properly and check if the server is running somewhere

    Quote from GuyB790

    Bump! :(

You shouldn't write the port if you are using the default 25565, the A record directs the client from the domain name to the IP, and then the client decides where to go, someone correct me if I'm wrong but if I understand it correctly the client would then try to connect to mc.myadress.org:25565:25565

And usually DNS records update after 1 hour, if you are still having trouble try contacting MCPH support, last time I heard they have good support and should deal with sub-domains often.

posted a message on Essentials Config Sideways?
    Quote from PossesedHoney

When i went in my config (essentials) i ran into a problem. the writing was left to right not horizontal, like essentials usually do. Anyway to fix it? my program is notepad not notepad++

I'd strongly suggest using notepad++ for any configuration or text based edits for that matter, the context highlight will help you identify if you missed any characters (Which causes a lot of headaches when trying to find them later), it may be possible for the file to have lost its formatting by opening it with ms notepad, for this you can also copy/paste the default config file from the essentials page here, which should look like this

posted a message on Logging into a Second Server on the same IP
There are 3 places you should be placing the new port number when not using the dafult one, your router, your client and your server configuration.

it seems you are missing the server config, it's usually located in the root directory with the name "server.properties" open it with any text editor and find the line that says

    server-ip=
    server-port=25565

Change the ip and port to the appropiate numbers, if you are running the second server on the same machine as the first server there no need to change "server-ip" blank should do it. Let us know how it goes.

It seems the command is cutting off and executing several commands instead of one, try using this one.

    @ECHO OFF
    SET BINDIR=%~dp0
    CD /D "%BINDIR%"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar
    PAUSE

And make sure the run.bat is located in the same folder of craftbukkit.jar

What address are you using to connect to your server? (You should be using localhost or 0.0.0.0 instead of the external address)

Do any error messages appear on the server console? If possible can you upload the log to some service like pastebin so we can take a look at it?

If possible ask someone you know to test the connection, outside your LAN of course. Let us know how it goes.
