posted a message on Mob grinder help!

I posted something a couple of weeks ago about this. My realms buddies made me tear down the mob grinder because it was an eyesore and only produced 10 or so of each drop over the course of a week.

My guess is, that since the Realms server is perpetual, it is continually spawning monsters at night and in caves, even when no-one is actually playing. So due to all the other monsters spawned, the 16x16 or whatever dark space for the mob grinder is insufficient, as there are billions of other places for mobs to spawn.

Someone should make a super flat world with no caves and the floor made of glowstone or something light emitting, then build the mob trap and see if it works at the efficiency we are "used" to from the Xbox edition or whatever (the edition before Bedrock). My guess is it will work the same as it used to, because in this test, there are no caves or other spawnable areas for the mobs to spawn, other than the grinder.

So if that is right, which it probably isn't, cause I am no expert, a mob grinder on Realms Bedrock will require lighting up a huge area, around everyone's bases and general travel paths, and all the caves underneath.

posted a message on Mob farm not really working

Hey all, I created the generic tower n' drop mob farm to get a constant source of mob drops in the Realms world my buddies and I are playing.

Thing is, it is virtually not working. After 100 MC days in the server, we only have about 40 items between zombie flesh, gunpowder, etc.

Is it due to mobs spawning everywhere else? Is there a way to create a mob farm without lighting up a million square miles of chunks with torches? Or is there another mechanic I am missing? This type of tower worked GREAT on the old version (Xbox One) of MC, so I am wondering if there is a new technique or something I am missing.

    Thanks,

posted a message on Water flow problems

Anyone else having trouble getting water to go where you want it to in better together? I am playing on xbox realms and whenever I place a water bucket, the water does not "spread out", it just follows one or two paths. Trying to make a simple mob farm, but I won't be able to control their movements toward the drop zone, without "normal" water mechanics.

    Anyone else experiencing water problems?

PS- water graphics SUCK in better together, as well!

Turn off Fancy Graphics or whatever. I was having the same problem. It fixed it for me.

posted a message on Black haze around screen when mining

Anyone else see a black haze around the screen when mining (or anywhere darkish)? I am playing Minecraft better together on the Xbox One. How can I remove this? Any ideas?

    Thanks,

Nevermind, I removed the "Fancy Graphics" option.

Would delete this post, but maybe someone else may find useful? If not, Mods please remove.

Great to hear that Realms works. Thank you!

And I keep forgetting that this isn't a port of the PC version...so yeah if above the nether didn't work before, it probably won't work now. :(

Two questions - will Realms work? And can you go on top of the Nether and actually make things?

posted a message on better together first impressions

I can't wait for Realms, either. I have sold all my friends (who played on Xbox 360 back in the day but moved on to other games) to give Minecraft another chance once this update comes out, because we will (after YEARS) finally be able to have a persistent world to play in, so all us 30-somethings with jobs, wives, kids, responsibilites, etc, can all join at our own leisure and play together, even if it is at different times.

Im still scared that they won't actually add Realms to it. People have told me they will, but I still am nervous about it. I hope they do!

posted a message on Gold Farm help

Thank for the reply! I do not remember that general nether mob farm, and after searching youtube I couldn't find any season five videos that talked about it (in the title at least). I just watch Mumbo, so I know I miss alot; can you point me in the direction of the hermit who's video I can watch for inspiration?

I have no idea what the forum rules are, and if you can discuss/link to videos or not. Not plugging anyone here. Just trying to get an infinite gold source in my Xbox survival world!

    Thanks,

posted a message on Gold Farm help

    Hello all,

So now that above the nether has been nerfed, how do you best go about a gold farm as a semi-newbie? No hermit level stuff. I have a solid underground base, sorting system, basic semi-auto farms, fair amount of resources. I have seen some overworld farms on Youtube with huge nether portals that spawn and drop pigman...do those still work in recent updates? Or should I stick to trying to do one in the Nether, with the darn Blaze shooting me up every second?

Efficiency isn't as critical as idiot-proofness and semi-resource friendliness. Any advice you could give would be appreciated. Really looking for a gold farm to create a solid source of gold to create golden carrots for a to-be-built auto-potion brewer.

    Thanks all,

posted a message on No End Portal... (Xbox One)

    All,

My survival seed was problematic finding the stronghold and end portal. After what felt like decades, I found the stronghold via "triangulation" of ender pearl throws. But finding the end portal was impossible. I went into creative and blew everything up looking for it, and I still couldn't find it.

After more ender pearl throws, I figured it out. As someone else said, the stronghold was under the ocean, and the stronghold was segregated by ocean water by like 20 blocks up and over.

Don't give up!! It is probably there. Just keep trying and you will find it!

posted a message on village finding applications for xbox one

Good luck. I have tried many of them you can find on google. They don't ever seem to work.

To find my stronghold, I had to use some really old triangulation script someone wrote. You throw your eye of ender and record the block you threw from and the block it landed on. You run 300 blocks diagonal to where the first eye floated, and repeat. Then run 600 blocks across the landscape (creating a bit of a triangle), and throw one more eye of ender. Then the script will calculate where the portal is based on triangulation.

All that to find a damned stronghold portal. Good luck with your village search.

posted a message on Better Together Update and Realms Xbox One

    HotaruTomoe,

Good detective work. Seemed like everyone was wondering the same question I originally asked. Because a couple of google searched articles DO mention Realms, but they are on non-official and not-so-reputable sites.

I trust your leg work, if that is one of Mojang's marketing staff, then Realms is definitely confirmed.

Thanks to all, very much appreciated,

    Rob

posted a message on Better Together Update and Realms Xbox One

I think this is the right place to place this thread; apologies if it is not.

For YEARS my friends and I have on-and-off played Minecraft on the 360 and then the Xbox One. We have always wanted a private Realms server to play on, so we didn't have to go to each other's house to play split screen. We could play in the same world at our own pace on our own time, due to life responsibilities and whatnot. We are all in our 30s, we don't care if we have to pay 10 bucks a month or whatever. We don't want MMO-level servers; we want private, as it would just be like 5-7 friends and myself playing.

I have been researching the Better Together update, and I can't seem to find a 100% definitive answer - will Minecraft Realms be one of the servers to play on with the big Better Together update? Or is it just going to be a bunch of huge MMO servers? Certain news articles hint at Realms, others don't mention it. Does anyone have a definitive answer?

I am excited with the updates, but I really want to see Realms. Thanks for any info you can give,

posted a message on Top of nether issues!

Not a bad idea, but unrealistic for my survival world's level of resource management, and my own technical expertise.

Has anyone made the big name nether farms (ghast, pigman) in the normal nether? Is it realistically possible?

I have seen videos of people blowing out the side of the nether. Is outside of the side wall of the nether nerfed as well?
