Looks interesting, I hope it's a per-existing structure with possible treasure inside. And hostile enemies. While the introduction of the Nether has always confused me, this is a nice addition. -

What the minecraft fanbase will say
if Bethesda loses: LOLOLOLOL BETHESDA SUCKS AT GAMING THEY SHOULDNT MAKE GAMES BECAUSE THEY SUCK MINECRAFT MINECRAFT MINECRAFT!!!
if Mojang loses: TOTAL BS THE GUYS AT BETHESDA TOTALLY CHEATED THEY SUCK **** LOLOLOOLOL THEY ARE SO STUPID AND SUCK AT EVERYTHING IN LIFE!!!
I'm positive this is what they will say, if Bethesda even agrees to this.
I'm pretty sure that will happen too. If Bethesda agrees with Notch, I will have respect for them again, whether they win or lose. -

Solving issues over a simple game rather than a lawsuit or a war is far from immature. -

Really Notch? For something as serious as a lawsuit, you're going to play a game to solve it? How immature can you get?
And you guys are supporting it?
If a war between two countries could be settled by a game of Quake, would you still say it's immature? -

Jul 20, 2011rikachu posted a message on Notch Reveals Leveling and PermadeathBut what are we leveling up for?Posted in: News
That is the big question... what's worth grinding over? I am afraid that with the leveling system we will either have extremely powerful characters or really really weak characters. Unless the hostile mobs also display level.
Don't get me wrong, I love rougelikes, but I just hope Notch implements this well. I feel like this could either make or break the game. Minecraft is not quite an rpg just because there is a leveling system either, there are many more steps to making an rpg; it's not just the leveling system. It's best we make judgements when 1.8 is released.
And I know most of you are jumping the gun here so I'm going to quote this snippet:
The Minecraft developer is still figuring out how players will level. “I’m not entirely sure on how the levelling is going to work, because that part isn’t as fun. We’re trying to figure out something that is fun, and kinda lightweight. We’re thinking of getting an automated XP system. It’s not implemented in any way that makes any kind of sense at the moment.”
Adding progression and permadeath could be a risky move for Minecraft’s vast playerbase. I asked Notch whether he’s concerned about ruining the purity of the game he’s created.
“It’s the biggest risk,” he acknowledges. “We have to make sure that it’s fun, and as streamlined as possible. I kind of figured out that a really good test of what works or not is when I go back to 1.7.3 – the previous version. If it feels like it’s lacking that feature, if it feels like it should be in there.
“But it’s what I like about roguelikes, like Nethack – everything is dangerous.” -

To be honest, I don't think it makes much of a difference whether people are posting suggestions or not.

No point in making different kinds of shears and fishing rods that have more durability. You don't use either of them that much compared to a standard tool like a pic, axe, or shovel. It's needless.

And they both have a sense of humor, a high definition screen recorder, good editing skills (well whoever edits their videos), and an intriguing series.

For a long time I thought that the villages are going to be abandoned. Or are all of you assuming that since NOtch calls them NPC towns, that there WILL be npcs in them?

As far as I know, shovels have the same durability as other tools. They just appear to break more easily since dirt/sand/gravel can be chopped through like butter. Shovel durability should remain the same.
You can now shift click items to pop them in your quick/hot bar.

I am 100% against friendly humanoid NPCS walking around in a town. Sucks away all the mysteriousness and isolation you get from single player survival. I hope the towns are abandoned...

Alpha members didn't ask Notch for anything, Notch simply gave us "free expansions" probably for supporting him at Minecraft's early stages. Then a week or two before beta got released, Notch stated that he was going to change this "free dlc" thing after beta was released. "A promise is a promise" I remember him saying. And if you discovered Minecraft during beta and you are complaining about what Alpha players have, what did you expect? Notch to email every person in the world that the game was going into beta so he won't have to deal with people whining at his doorstep about Alpha players?
You're all (most) a bunch of whiny annoying children: Alpha gloaters and Beta whiners. JUST SHUT UP.
