posted a message on Sound Filters - A Client-Side Mod (adds reverb to caves, and a few other things)

is there a way to declare a mod client side, inside the mod? if so could you implement it? I really enjoy your mod. i keep forgetting to disable it though when setting up a server. it would also make setting up a server from a mod pack that uses your mod much easier. As drag and drop would be more likely a possibility. And it would take less time to find all the client side mods and disable them, as there would be one less trying to run.

I just tried looking up if there was a way to declare a mod server sided or client sided. I can't find it. I thought I had seen it referenced somewhere though.

posted a message on BeastNode.com: SSD-Powered Budget and Premium Plans Starting at $2.99/GB with DDoS Protection!

I just started renting a top tier (Diamond) budget server from this company. I have ran FTB Infinity Evolved and The Ferret Business on the server. It has handled both extremely well. I have used tech support twice and it was extremely fast and the support personnel were professional at their job.

The last time I rented from them was three years ago. They were a great service then and are a even better service now. There panel has improved vastly. I would still recommend using FTP programs like filezilla where possible, as with the other server companies I have tried the panel isn't very good at file handling.

Very good server rental company with great budget servers. I will be highly recommending them.

posted a message on Good 3 player game that involves...

I have been trying to search the net for a game that three or more people can play that fills certain requirements. My searches have brought back no results for anything I was looking for. It actually found the opposite of what I was looking for every time. No matter the search terms used.

Things the game needs to have:

character building with stat driven characters. Two of us love to design characters then watch them get more powerful as the game progresses. Almost all the games I play have this as a major feature in them.

No role playing. We have tried for over ten years to play table top role playing games like D&D and pathfinder. We do the fighting. We do the looting. We skip the role playing and exploring. We have tried using campaigns, modules, in house creations. None worked for us.

Non technology based games. Only two of us have computers and the other is extremely tech illiterate. It is all they can do to follow the game. They mostly just play to listen to the talking actually.

It must require talking. We don't do talking. So we want something that would force us to talk.

Dice would be nice. We have lots of them and would like to use them.

Preferably games that don't require heavy investments. We all live on low fixed incomes.

I have probably left a lot out. Any help on this would be appreciated though.

posted a message on [1.6.X] Portal Gun - Reconstructed [v1] - Rewritten... again.
Is there any way to force-close portals? I know pressing R will close the portals for the gun you are currently holding. My problem comes with playing with my brother. We both used different guns. He was laughing so hard from both of us trying to trap each other with the portals that he decided it was best to quit the game. I didn't have a chance to close the portals from my gun before the game was closed.

I had set up a pretty nasty infinite falling trap. Now I am worried he will fall into it and not be able to get back out of it When he goes back into his game.

Is there any way he can force all the portals in his game closed...like a OP command or something?

    Edit:

My brother figured it out. He just placed a portal over my portal...replacing it...then reset the new portal to get rid of it altogether.....

    Loving this mod.

    Quote from MangledMonkey

I've been pondering since last night where to post these screenshots just because I don't necessarily know where the issue lies. But i figured I'd drop them here since I am using basically all of the mods (with the exception of the unreleased mods of course) that Dire is running on the Forgecraft Server.

Long story short, my power went out for a minute or so last night while I was playing. I rebooted the computer, started up the server, and logged back in. I noticed that it was INSANELY laggy in the Overworld, but all other worlds were doing fine. I tried everything I could think of to kill the lag (removed chunkloaders, turned off machines and engines.) Nothing helped. So as I was about to give up, I went outside. This is what was at the village next to my house...

So I killed them from a distance. Like this:

    It was spectacular.
I know they reproduce in Vanilla now, but is there no set limit? Or is this some sort of issue caused by a mod? Either way, it was hilarious.

They aren't on top of a Stronghold? I doubt that would be it........

So with the Season 3 out is there a video that shows how to install all of the Season 3 mods? ONLY Season 3.

I think he is using most the mods in the FTB (Feed The Beast) modpack. It plans on releasing a installer , when the entire pack is ready , to make everything easier.

Direwolf. Is there anyway anyone else can make it on the server? It would be awesome to play with you guys :)

I think if you made a mod they liked they might think it over. Could be wrong though.

I am enjoying the mods you use. Took me a few tries to get it working. Two crashed the game on load. One slowed my game down to much , so i removed it. I also added one. I am not for sure if I want to play with that setup though , or continue with the 1.2.5 Feed The Beast mod setup that I also have.

Either way , it is fun watching your channel. I like seeing a little on how to set stuff up , and just watching and hearing the episodes.

Expanding on this, is there a way you can make a preset so that the lowest sections of a floating mineshaft are floating on the water? Then the whole construction would look like a massive aquatic shantytown.

    Seed: Old World
    Preset: 2;7,30x1,3x3,2,5x9;4;stronghold,biome_1,village,decoration,dungeon,lake,mineshaft,lava_lake

I'll post the versions I use in Season 5, though in fairness, Season 5 will be using the FTB pack, so you won't have to worry too much.

The versions I'm using in this series are all alpha/beta, so unreleased to the public.

Keep watching this thread , letsplays , and livestreams about the FTB pack. Can't wait for the new version to come out. I installed the 1.2.5 pack to tide me over. That wasn't easy either. Couldn't figure out what pack to install to play the game in Singleplayer (without a adventure map). Finally figured out it was the Client pack. I hope.

Thanks to everyone that is working on this.

posted a message on RTS Craft (Reverse Dungeon Keeper)
Was reading in the wiki something about "Dungeon Keeper". I mostly played the second game. My idea came while I was playing Minecraft though. It just relates in a way to that old game.

Basically you are the hero of the land. You have as much time as you want to build up your resources, but as you do so so do the monsters. They start from their spawners , laying down more dungeon and crafting more strategically placed spawners (these spawners would just work like regular spawners. They wouldn't spawn any crafters. Only the Hearts (original "special" spawners) do that.)

When you feel ready , you start looking for the Dungeon the monsters have crafted. With the goal of destroying the Heart Spawners. Once you have destroyed , or captured , these special spawners you have won the game.

To make it easier to find the Monster's Dungeon the map would be limited in size. Something like 640*640 blocks.

Feel free to do with this , or not , as you will.

Need to change biomes. It is Plains on the presets.

    2;7,59x1,3x3,2;4;stronghold,biome_1,village,decoration,dungeon,lake,mineshaft,lava_lake

The "4" at the end of the numbers tell it to be a forest biome. Just replace it with the biome number you want it to be.

    Edit:
Lots of information can be found in The minecraft wiki.

    Might be:
    2;7,12x1;2;dungeon,village,biome_1,decoration,mineshaft,stronghold,lake,lava_lake

He didn't post the full preset. You will get floating structures with this one. Might want to make the 12x1 to 16x1 just for more diamonds. I think.

Floating mines look so cool. I like things that defy gravity though.

I'm not trying to rip on minecraft or anything but I dont like all these updates there adding to the game its just not like minecraft used to be and i dont like it...

I liked Minecraft back when I first started playing it. There really wasn't much to do. You would just build and explore. That was enough to do though.

Now it has changed a lot. There are goals for those that want to bother with them , Like defeating the End Dragon or the Wither. The basic game hasn't changed much though. Just has had a lot added to it. Some of that stuff can even be turned off , like villages ,mines , and strongholds.

All , in all I liked the game back then. The game is seeming a lot different now. All the reasons I had for liking it are still there though.
