You can't change your skin without a minecraft.net account. The only way you would actually be able to do it is to change the skin in the texture pack; but still you would be the only one who can see it.
I always carry some gravel with me when I'm cave exploring incase I come across a ravine and want to reach the bottom with out hurting or potentially killing myself. Since gravel falls, I just place it next to a nearby wall so it falls, then continue doing so until the pile is up to my level. Then just stand on it and whip out the old shovel. Much easier then mining a stair case or straight down (which could potentially lead to a gap and kill you)
you know you could just use a bucket of water
all you do is lay it down and let it flow all the way down the ravine then pick it back up and go down with the water
Your Computer Specs and Operating System: Win Vista 64
Can you repeat this bug: Yup
What issues does the bug Cause: Flying toggle in Creative Mode unresponsive/unreliable. Using the double tap for jumping does not always start flying mode, and getting down from flying mode is almost impossible. I don't know if it's the horrible lag that is causing the delay, but this is completely unplayable in this state. Currently I'm stuck at the top of the sky, because double tapping jump doesn't turn flying off.
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable:
Pressing shift will make you lower and double tapping jump does turn flying off. It just has weird timing to it; you can't be too fast or too slow.

I have this exact same problem and it is very annoying. Wish it would've been solved in the full release of 1.8 but I guess not.

No, there's a minecraft.jar and a minecraft-1.2_02.jar file.
