posted a message on Lesson in patience / How long until CU20?

Updates seem to flow out once a month or so. I expect late January myself. Big content updates have happened in Dec 2014, June/July 2015, and Dec 2015 (so I'm not sure if that holds any pattern) but smaller bug fix releases occur each month or thereabouts.

The seed "Golden Apple" (without the quotes) has a decent size village in the center map if you want to check. It also has another village 1 map down and 1 map to your left of the center map. It has a 3rd village 2 maps to the right and 1 down from the center as well.

posted a message on Is anyone else a little upset about the new enchanting after update?

Yeah, I like it as well. Besides, the time to have had this discussion/prepare would'be been when the PC released it's version 1.8 -- many, many, many, many months ago during their snapshots -- not now.

posted a message on Seed request for Dec 2015 update (Plains, Desert, Ice Plains Spikes, Bonus: Ocean Monument)

For "Golden Apple" has anyone found any slimes chunks within the general area of X:100 and Z:400? I've excavated tons of area underground and haven't seen any slimes spawn... sigh

I wonder if the "Small" world is still using the xbox 360 nether conversion ratio of 3:1 -- does that make more sense for your numbers by chance?

Yeah "Xbox" has a decent assortment including Mesas -- give it a peak if you have the time.

Oh, good news, Golden Apple does have IPS -- top left map of the world so around X:-1960 Z:-2400

posted a message on Seed request for Dec 2015 update (Plains, Desert, Ice Plains Spikes, Bonus: Ocean Monument)

I attempted to search for one using "Golden Apple" but couldn't find it -- though I didn't explore the entire 5x5 area.

After that search I tried seed "Xbox" (without the quotes) and that actually does contains a Ice plain spikes biome though, and has a Village within the same area as your spawn so I'm looking into using that once I explore it a bit more. The IPS biome here should be 2 maps directly to the right, and slightly up, of where you spawn.

Though, if I do end up finding an IPS on "Golden Apple" I may use that one still... haven't decided :)

posted a message on Seed request for Dec 2015 update (Plains, Desert, Ice Plains Spikes, Bonus: Ocean Monument)

Looking for a seed which has the following in _close proximity_ to each other == preferably within the 3 x 3 map area centered in the middle of the 5 x 5 world.

    Plains: Decent building area

Desert: Need sand and a Village nearby

    Ice Plains Spikes: For ice

Bonus points if there happens to be an ocean monument somewhere on the entire 5 x 5 map, it doesn't necessarily have to be real close though.

I'll reply back if I find a good one...

posted a message on Getting new biomes, but what about the new World Generation algorithm?

It shouldn't be an issue as the area that is there should be the same -- 25 maps worth of area should be good, you just wouldn't see the area outside of that.

The site still has version selectors for the old console versions, which used to work, but they no longer match as the algorithm did change just not in the way I had hoped.

posted a message on Getting new biomes, but what about the new World Generation algorithm?

Crap... just got the new update but the world generation algorithm doesn't look like it matches PC :( This blows my plans out of the water as I had my eyes set on a particular seed... what's worse is that the biome-finder below doesn't match at all what's being generated now on any of the version settings.

    For example.

posted a message on Getting new biomes, but what about the new World Generation algorithm?

With the CU 19 changes to include the new biomes, will we also be getting the new World Generation algorithm as well?

This means that the same Seed value will generate a different biome pattern across the world than it did before. Basically I want to be able to use http://chunkbase.com/apps/biome-finder with the "PC (1.7 and above)" option set. Hopefully the slime chunks and other locations there will also be 1.7 equivalent now on Xbox One as well.

4JSteve, would you be able to confirm?

posted a message on What do you guys want to see in the next update?

Let it be known that I will be disappointed with anything less than all of the following :)

    - Fix bug MCCE-249

    - Fix bug where Birch trees cannot grow next to other trees (fixed in PC 1.7)

    - Add the PC 1.7 world generation algorithm (completely different than prior versions; includes new biomes)

    - Add the PC 1.8 blocks Ganite+Diorite+Andesite+Slime

    - Like PC 1.7, allow large 23x23 Nether portal sizes

    - Like PC 1.8, new Villager AI so they can replant crops automatically for you

posted a message on Minecraft xbox one not running at 60fps

Yeah, it appears to run at 60 most of the time for me on the XB1. It does have slowdowns though at times (it's not a locked 60) but not generally. I wonder how OP is measuring or what's going on with OPs world?

You can make it a complete slideshow if you want. I've spawned everything up until their respective mob-caps and kept them all confined to a small area in pens -- 256 total mobs (86 cows, 26 chickens, 26 wolves, 48 villagers, and 70 zombies) -- it's basically a slide show at that point.

I've heard it's due to limited save-file space. For 360 the cloud storage was just 512MB overall for all game saves for instance. I don't know what the XB1 limit is but it might not be large enough either if a single game takes hundreds of megs.

As for world generation, that's true. Really inconvenient to travel a few thousand blocks away just to get nice blocks like packed ice etc. but doable I suppose... if the price for the realms is right. [Edit] Actually in the case of 1.7, which completely changed the world generation algorithm, I wouldn't risk or bet on it. I'd feel better if we already were on 1.7 and then just had to put up with the inconvenience for new 1.8 blocks for instance. As it stands I think 1.6->1.7 is too much. [Edit end]

I'm with Yid. I'd prefer the new biomes and world generation and general 1.7 features/bug fixes over realms I think. It's too hard to commit meaningful amounts of time to a world if you know it will be outdated soon.

Not to mention that realms would most likely cost something additional to existing LIVE/PSN subscription fees. If anything I'd prefer a sharing mechanism, that's not always-on, which would allow the normal P2P online mode to operate.
