posted a message on What blocks will endermen pick up?
I've never seen an enderman pick up anything outside of dirt and sand. Will they pick up other things? I mean other things besides common blocks. I'm sure they pick up gravel, clay, stone, etc. I've tried following them in ravines and the few I found in various strongholds would never pick up anything interesting. I've tried getting them near my houses and structures to see if they would grab a block but they never and eventually drift off and pick up dirt.

I highly doubt it. If the game were viable it wouldn't have went under.

posted a message on How does one copyright something they build in Minecraft?
    Quote from IronMagus

Why not? You can copyright a work of art made in various other mediums like sculpted wood, oil paints, or written words, so why not one made of Minecraft blocks as well?

Minecraft is a game. And falls under the copyrights of games. Content within a game cannot be copyrighted outside of the game. Basically by programming the ability to make something in a game the developers have effectively created anything that can be done in the game. I know it sounds weird but that is how it works. Building a house isn't the same as Red Vs. Blue. RVB and Machinima content falls under a completely different set of laws and copyrights. (not to mention that they are considered parody).

Also last time i checked nobody could copyright a tree? As for painting and writing that falls under artistic copyright and that again has no bearing on anything inside of a game. Your examples are lacking.

posted a message on How does one copyright something they build in Minecraft?
Ok, so I know the title sounds like a joke (it kind of is) or a troll post (it's not) but I am legitimately asking a question. I see a lot of videos on Youtube where the poster is saying "I'm not going to copyright this so use as much as you want". The first time I heard it I was like ok someone who doesn't know how copyright works but recently I've started hearing on roughly a dozen channels. Where in the world did these people get that they could copyright something in a video game? Being someone who knows how copyright works and has dealt with it I laugh a little every time I hear it. The only thing I can think of is that they are talking about Youtube's copyright system so other people don't make a video of the same thing? But even that can't really be copyrighted. But seriously who started the thinking of being able to copyright something in a game?

BTW for any of you who use that line in your videos you can't copyright something you build. You can say you were the first but you can't copyright it. Anything that is in the game is considered protected by the copyrights of the game. Meaning you can't copyright a piece of the game nomatter how cool your dirt house is.

posted a message on Cubic Chunks: Reduced lag, infinite height, and more [The #1 Suggestion Thread of all time!][Updated! 6/14]
Wouldn't this completely change the minecraft world though? I mean the common thought is the minecraft world is a square. If you had infinite the world would be never ending lateral plane their would be no center and no space. The entire universe would be "earth" so to speak.

I like some aspects of this but I dislike many others. Infinite horizontal ability isn't something I want. Have a set top and bottom is a constraint that is accepted and rarely seen as a limit.

also as others have said how does the game figure out light sources without loading chunks the possible light sources are in. On top of what others have said "natural light" is one of the reasons chunks are top to bottom of the world. Not to mention mobs, water, lava, redstone, etc. I know the OP talked about this but didn't give any way as to now the game would actually (not theoretically) handle unloaded components of the game. Creating the background processes to keep all that going even when unloaded would remove many performance gains one would get.

Also without testing their is no real way to test that this will increase frame rates or reduce lag. The amount of extra code needed to implement this would more than likely double the existing code which would make the game overall more demanding on machines. Also completely rethinking the way worlds generate and blocks are shown would more than likely cause a top to bottom update of the game. Basically causing a complete reset. It's a lot different than going from the original way Minecraft worked to now.

Interesting idea that has been thought of several times already. But nobody seems to be really into testing it. This is one of those things that sounds great in theory but implementation in a game already played by millions of people is going to be much much harder than anyone here is even thinking about.

posted a message on How old should you be to post minecraft vids on youtube?
Sometimes I prefer vids without commentary (even if I didn't I wouldn't dislike a vid) it really depends on what is in the vid.

To the OP. Nobody here knows if you are ready to make vids. What you should do is make a few videos and have for friends and family watch them. Ask for critiques and comments and make a few more videos then do it again. When you get to a point where you think your vids are just as good as what is already on Youtube (the vids you want to emulate that is) then you are ready. One of the biggest things you have to remember is that most videos on Youtube, Minecraft or not, have a lot of work behind them. Even "virgin" new world videos have a lot of scouting and seed hunting before getting started. It's why the posters always know exactly where to go to get to anything even though they want you to think they just got "lucky".

Basically take this to heart and think about if you really have enough time and are willing to put the effort in. "It takes 5 minutes to make a crap 5 minute Youtube video...To make a quality 5 minute video takes hours"

posted a message on Minecraft Movie?
I have to say please no.

Any movie (of any quality) would have to have more than one main character. Even movies like Castaway had other stuff going on. I mean a movie about a guy living alone in the wilderness where everything wants to kill you and your only companionship is wild animals and said creatures that want to kill you has pretty much been done before by every settler that moved west during the great expansion. So just watch the history channel.

posted a message on Cause of the Jungle lag found. 14W11B
I play 1.7.5 and I have very little issue at all. I see mobs stuck in the leaf blocks but they never suffocate and create drops. They just sit there. I will admit I get small FRD from 60 fps to 50-55 when in a jungle but nothing that makes the game unplayable or anything. Guess I am lucky.

My biggest problems come from being in a boat. My frame rate will drop to 30-35 even if I am just sitting in a boat not moving. Then the second I get out it jumps back up to 60 fps.

anyone who says "when I'm up in the club" doesn't actually go to clubs.

As for the song if you aren't just trolling a old yahoo ask. Next time you hear it on the radio note the time and look it up on the stations website. But since you're probably a troll any of the answers from the previous posters probably got it right.
