kehehehe. Let's see, then... What can we do for a protest that would REALLY get their attention... No, I probably shouldn't do that. Up to you guys then :tongue.gif:
I guess we could ALL just PM the admins all at once. That would probably get their attention.
If we all PM them then they probably wont read the PMs... I sent a PM a few mins ago to citricsquid, Alexia, Basic, and BlueSteelAU and citric said he'll talk to Blue.
Quote from Lilyo »I am sending this formal PM to bring your attention to a concern the Texture Pack community has been having about the new changes that are to be implemented, which based on the information that has been presented to the community it can be inferred that:
1. The Texture Pack forum will be split up into 4 new categories (5 including WIP), one for Download/ Info, one for Comments/ Suggestions, one for Bug Reports, and one for Installation Help and Use
2. Each Texture Pack author will thereby have to create 4 different threads, each for its own forum.
3. Outdated packs will be moved by the moderators into their designated archived sections
This has raised the following concerns among the community who thinks these changes are not needed and counter productive.
1. First of all, these many filters are not needed and will do nothing other than split up and destroy the community. Having a completely different thread just to comment on a texture pack is not needed at all, much less so with having 3 threads for commenting on said texture.
2. There are no such things as "bugs" related to texture packs for any other reason than installation, and the installation can be described in the original post by the author and does not warrant its own separate thread. There is no discussions that can be had about bugs regarding Texture Packs. This makes the bugs and installation forums completely unnecessary and extremely counter productive.
3. Having a separate comments thread raises the question of how the original Download/ Info thread will remain alive if commenting is not allowed there. This, again, makes the comments forum unnecessary and counter productive.
4. All texture packs are WIP and you can not fall for the assumption that every texture pack can be give the "completed" status just because a certain part of it is complete or if it as a whole is completed, as changes are always going to be made even after the majority is done. Not to mention of course that most texture pack authors almost never rextures every aspect of the game, including guis, mob skins, items, misc files, etc., which raises the serious question of how exactly will texture packs be determined as WIP or Completed. This, again, makes the WIP section unnecessary and counter productive for the Texture Pack community.
We, as a community (and I speak only for the Texture Pack community, and not the others), are upset that such changes have been planned out on such short notice and without any sort of discussion with the actual community beforehand. None of us in the Texture Pack section have been asked if such changes will really benefit us and so we ask you to reconsider. Many people are already talking about leaving the forums if such changes were to take place.
We have also come up with a better structure for the current Texture Pack forum, which involves the implementation of a "Discussions" subforum which would include things such as group chats, tutorials, help/ questions, requests, tools related to texture packs such as 3rd part sites, etc., and a "Texture Packs" forum which would obviously include actual Texture Packs, Collaborations, Challenges, Competitions, and anything that has to do with actual texture making.
You can read the full idea as posted by Dante80 HERE
Again, we hope you will reconsider. -

I have a question, Feathers. Feel free to answer in your own time. :happy.gif:
Are we allowed to post textures here like we (mostly myself) have been doing? This is a good place to do that, but I'd like to know if it's actually allowed.
Should be, it is a big group of texture makers after all. -

e7TopHat posted a message on This Has To StopPosted in: Resource Packs"...You wake up to a thunderous sound in your home. You slowly get up and turn the light on, but to your dismay, your power has gone out. Hesitantly, you walk out of your room, silently sneaking across your own home, scared of what you are about to discover. That is when....
You find someone posting another stupid texture pack. Now there have been multiple threads popping up over the past few days about the occurrence of all these "new texture packs" being thoughtless, stupid and, often rip offs. All of these thread's I have been vocal in. And i'v had a few people try to tell me that "Some of the packs are good, even if they are simple. Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder". I'v had people say "Well not everyone reads the forum rules to check how they are supposed to format their texture packs, and what they are required to post when making a thread for their pack.
So I decided to take a little bit of time out of my "busy" day [busy meaning I'v been up since 1:30am and I am trying not to fall asleep since I am only on about 4 hours of sleep]. Here is, and this is the kicker, what I found on the
FIRST FIVE PAGES.
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/599420-wip-16x16-unnamed-texturepack/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/600051-the-simple-minecraftia-16x16-texture-pack/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/600060-2x1718-2x2craft-wip/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/599985-the-awesomepixelpack-16x16/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/595555-16x16-pixelated-craft-minecraft-173-multiplayer-support/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/599771-173-artisticcraft-custom-textures/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/599842-simplecraft/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/586393-16x16-lunar-texture-pack/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/599521-173-nice-texture-pack/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/599349-baby-craft-in-progress-my-first-texturepack-32-bits/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/597348-16xcomicraft-texture-pack-v2/
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/599944-secretcraft-11-texture-pack-13-coming-soon/
Now all of these packs are guilty of one or more things:
1)Lack of work put into making the texture
2)Bad textures in every sense of the word "bad"
3)Lack of screenshots, formatting or anything else REQUIRED to be included when posting a texture pack
4)Blatant claims of originality/ownership over a pack they claim is 100% theirs, when in fact half, if not 95% of the textures are Defaults created in the first place by Mojang.
5)Stupidity to the extent of being incapable of operating a computer properly
6)Any sort of creativity
7)Trying to get AdFly money, thinking they will get all teh "doez", "hoez" and "broz" with their mad cashflow comin' $3.00 for every 1000 people who click the link.
Now I didn't even go into EVERY thread in the first five pages of this section. These are the threads that are dedicated to memory of being absolutely garbage, to the extent I realize they put more effort into uploading the ****ing pack to AdFly then they did into an idea, or making the god damned pack. So there could easily be an extra few I am missing out on here.
These also don't include three people who requested a thread removal from a moderator after being flamed into oblivion for posting stupid texture packs.
Seeing a pattern here? These non-existent mods really need to come into existence and start dealing with this crap. Because at this rate, the entire Texture Pack section is going to become nothing but a sea of stupid packs with the best packs in MineCraft hovering in the first and second pages. -

The_Fiftyniner posted a message on [59craft][16x] Suggest-A-Texture! - Get your ideas in a texture pack!Posted in: Resource PacksRequest-A-TextureI love making textures, but my thread for my pack Fiftyninecraft is almost always ignored. I got the idea to make a thread for the request of textures. I'll take any request, as long as it's appropriate and possible. Please, if you have an idea, I'll try to make it possible. Request as many textures as you want, and any texture you want! Please don't be afraid to ask.
The thread where you can request any texture you want... And I'll make it!
(Textures only! Not whole packs.)
Just please remember that I'm only doing single blocks. Not mobs, whole texture packs, etc. Only blocks. Maybe a tool from time to time if you're special enough, but yeah.
The textures you request will be made available on the Fiftyninecraft Customizer Page. I'd love to have some comments on the Fiftyninecraft thread itself if you all could be so kind.
Finished Requests:
Hey fiftyniner! A texture I would like, but can never seem to make, is a mob spawner that is a sort of skull, I'm trying to make one for my up coming pack (not yet realeased) But I just can't! I don't want it to be a simple texture but I don't want it to be that detailed either. I am looking for smooth!Quote from imnumberfour

a doku styled mossy cobblestone. Not like stones and some moss on it, more like some ancient inscriptions on a stone (with moss). You probably know what I mean.

Can I have an iron door that has padlocks and chains over it with a redstone line leading to the handle? That would be eternally cool. The iron door can look like FiftyNineCraft and the padlocks and chains however you want. The redstone should be the unlit kind, and the chains and locks should go slightly over it. Thanks!

TheMirror posted a message on [TUTORIAL] How to post images.Posted in: TutorialsHey, everyone.
I've been seeing A LOT of this recently:
So I figured I'd make a tutorial on how to upload images to the internet (complete with crayons and diapers and sippy cups)
STEP 1
Locate image of choice.
Let's say I want to upload that picture of a fire hydrant. Where is it, now.. Oh, there. On the left.
STEP 2
Go to www.imgur.com.
Just drag the picture into the window when you have imgur open. Click start upload.
See that one with the big arrow? Copy that.
STEP 3
Post image.
Was that so hard? -

You didn't quite understand what I said. I meant that putting people in a group wont affect their power to change stuff. I meant that the group wouldn't be the only one screaming at Notch when required, as 200 induviduals have just as much power as 200 people in a group. After all, I doubt Notch looks at this and thinks "Oh no! They are in a Union! I guess they are completely right then!"
If you have 200 individuals, the 200 individuals might all be screaming different things, or going about it the wrong way. Like horses trying to pull a cart, but with each of them pulling in a different direction.
If those 200 people are in a group together, and present a united position, then all the horses are pulling together and the cart goes somewhere. -
