All the confirmed information here: https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/all-news-e3

    An here: http://time.com/4810005/minecraft-pc-smartphone-switch-xbox/

Another literally earth-shattering change: the console editions will now have unlimited worlds. "Really what we're talking about today is Minecraft becoming endless," says the game's executive producer, Jesse Merriam. "As the console editions join bedrock, there are just a number of things they naturally inherit." Console worlds today have a maximum size of 5,120 by 5,120 blocks, or about 3 miles by 3 miles. After the bedrock edition upgrade, players will be able to walk right off the end of an existing world, then keep going.

And Realms, the game's subscription-based hangout for worlds players want to share with others (even when they're not around) folds in organically with the bedrock edition. "All the worlds you've created, all the DLC you've bought come to the new version," says Merriam.

Hope this clears things up :)

Considering the massive gulf in what 4J said and what Microsoft said last year, I put more weight by far behind the statements of MS.

Plus, the Minecraft article never says that Realms are not included. That section describes the difference between Realms and servers.

I hope you are correct. The only thing I want is a Realm for friends and family.

Independent servers, run by members of the amazing Minecraft community, have been around since the earliest days of the game. They're essentially online platforms where you can socialise, play and collaborate with millions of other players! Basically, servers make it easier for you to enjoy multiplayer Minecraft and access new mini-games, worlds, and friends to craft with! Nice!

Unlike Minecraft Realms, which gives you access to a private, cloud-hosted world for you and your friends, servers are open and accessible to everyone - some have monthly users in the millions!

So this Summer, all platforms receiving the Better Together Update will then have a server browser in the Minecraft start menu. This'll let you search a list of servers which you can join right away! We'll be launching with four servers – Lifeboat, Mineplex, InPVP, and Cubecraft - with more to follow. Plus we've made sure that parental controls and other safety features will be in place, so you decide what your child can access. We'll have a more detailed summary of servers closer to the update. After all, we live to serve(er)! ...sorry.

Unfortunately realms has been confirmed to NOT be included in the unification update. It will be four servers to start with minigames. What a disapointment. Just read the article on the first page of the forums.

I think what happens with the console edition is in the hands of 4J Studios, and not Microsoft or Mojang. I bet they work like crazy on the port to the Nintendo Switch. At least it would make sense from the view of 4J, because thats where the next big chunk of money is coming from.

Another point with cross platform playing is, that 4J always wants to provide MCCE features to ALL platforms where the console edition runs on. I have no idea why they refuse to exploit the power of newer consoles for some things, like shaders or supply the Xbox one edition with the ability to put my world on an USB stick.

In minute 15 someone asks at last Minecon about Realms: They basically say: We want to deliver it on every console at the same time, and it seems to take for ever. And they are working on it. No date. Similar question at minute 18, where someone asks about servers.

I really wonder, why they are blocking themself by reducing Minecraft on console to the lowest common denominator. It makes no sense, there are things you can exploit on newer generation consoles that you simply can't on PS Vita or the old Xbox 360. At least they already made the world slightly bigger on Xbox one, which is a big thing considering they want to make everything equal. However, in a later update they messed it up with the new terrain/world generation algorithms which reduces the biome size so far, that villages almost don't spawn anymore.

Judging from the bug reports, where new updated and features break old already working features (always a bad sign) their code base is probably quite messy. And their development resources are quite limited. They haven't even implemented most 1.9 or 1.10 features in the console edition yet.

Everything about this, is extremely unsettling. Console is the ugly step child, as time goes on we see these issues with no end in sight.... on a communal game, a game that is designed around creating groups, sharing experiences and creativity and it is mind boggling!

How about just getting Realms to work within each console's ecosphere. Forget the cross platform ******** 'til it's ready. People are willing to pay to play and MS is pissing it away. All my minecraft friends have moved on to games that have servers like Ark, even though they would rather be on this game!

It seems we are destined to be trapped, playing on limited worlds, expected to pay for mini games that (although somehow must be making MS a ton of Money) but I see nobody play. And settling with bugs that seem to never get looked at let alone resolved (villager issues).

No one has heard any updated information. I hate telling friends that I have to leave when they want to keep building on my world. I would definitely pay to keep a realm open for them. JS

    how?

Near unlimited world size, with the server supplying the hard-drive space they would not need to worry about how many gigs it takes up on the system. Realms would be the obvious solution.

Here is what is happening on crashes....

Sometimes it loads, but mostly won't.

Edit: I have created a post in the bug tracker. If you have anything to contribute, want to vote it up; please check it out https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCCE-1426

    I have another update regarding this issue;

From Steve: "An issue with pistons has been known to cause this, and a fix is in the works"

As for me, deactivating pistons did not help. BUT, I did purchase a new Hard Drive for my One. I got a two terabit SSHD that runs at 7200rpm. With this hard drive, I have had a significant decrease in the crash on load on most worlds. It is not gone, but happens less frequently.
