posted a message on [1.6.2][Forge] Minecraft: Combat Evolved -- The all new Halo mod -- Under new management
This mod seems like a joke to me because minecraft doesn't share any remote similarity with halo in general. Guns in minecraft don't behave like a normal weapon would. Halo games without their great weapon gameplay is empty. While I can see how having elites, flood, grunts, marines, and other Halo related npcs as minecraft mobs might be a redeeming "planned" feature of this mod, The AI system in minecraft is so limited that they would filter to a bland lifeless and uninteresting ai encounter with predictable and slow combat. On top of that the minecraft look filtered over Halo's signature look would be pretty hard to pull off, people seeing this out of context would likely mistake this for some other bland sci fi addition to Minecraft. As for the vehicles, I can't even imagine what you guys are planning, but I don't think it's going to work how you guys want. Maybe I don't understand the goal of this mod. Are you focused on multiplayer or single player elements? What about first person hud elements? Shields? Powerups? Crafting? SMP? Functions?

TLDR: I don't have a lot of hope in this, it's not going to go far.

posted a message on Ideas for Revitalising Minecraft
I've been doing a lot of research in why I can no longer have fun playing the current minecraft in SSP or in some cases SMP. This is for all the people who believe Alpha, Beta or maybe even Infdev were much better or more fun than the current generation of minecraft. There are several theories about what 'broke' minecraft, for example some people say the new creatures are the cause, other people say it's the new focus on "adventure" that minecraft has turned. After doing some research on the changes and the population fluctuation based on the new features being added into minecraft, I've personally found that there is a significant lapse in challenging content in the current minecraft package.

One of my major points is the food meter, while at first glance it may seem like it adds challenge to the game, I feel like it just makes the game a little repetitive, even for minecraft which could be seen as a very repetitive game. It may make it harder to heal when you're in a tight situation, but in the long run it just becomes an annoyance for a minecrafter who is deep into progression in the game. The older system was better because it could still be a challenge for someone who has gotten a much higher tier in the game. Before the food meter, It food was significantly scarce, it was a great challenge to get food, because the only source was mushrooms, bread, cake, fish, or cooked pork. I say cooked in bold because uncooked only restores half a heart. Fishing required you have string, which is hard to do at any point in the game because of their speed. Mushrooms are found relatively deep in caves, bread and cake take time to get, and pork as scarce.

Another point I'd like to make is the mob spawing code in older generations of minecraft (Beta) (Alpha) was much more "generous" in the amount of mobs it fabricated. Typically you'd find them spawning in thirds based on race, and about 8-32 blocks apart from the various clusters were more clusters. It was also much easier to meet the conditions for a mob to spawn, not based on light but based on position or location. Another thing, and I'm not saying lag is a good thing, but it would often contribute to the overall difficulty of the mobs. I'm talking about the lapse in hitting a mob and shortly after the game rapidly catches up. In general it was harder to kill a mob, and today it's pretty easy to avoid mobs despite their "upgraded" path finding.

Finally, I'd like to comment on the World Generation seen in the current Minecraft. most people who prefer Beta or Alpha or Infdev to the current minecraft will argue that the world generation is the main cause of their lack of interest in the new generation of minecraft. While I believe that the past generation was great, there are no real problems with the current age of world generation. I would suggest a mod or feature that allows someone to choose the generator they prefer from throughout minecraft's history. In addition it would be nice to have an option in the difficulty to toggle the new mob ai and the food meter in it's entirety. I would also suggest the ability to toggle sprint, which makes it very easy to avoid confronting mobs, as there is no mob that can match the speed of a sprinting player.

It all falls under one main Idea, That some of the major game changing features that have accumulated over time, should be optional upon world generation, because they take some of the challenge out of the game. That is my suggestion.

Is there anyone who agrees with me about this? any additional thoughts? I'm curious to hear the forum's opinion on this, as other similar topics seemed to end in an argument. I apologize in advance if some of my facts are off by a bit.

posted a message on laptop getting realy slow maybe virus how to speedup/delete hard disk
To Reinstall Windows, You must backup all your important documents and restart your computer with a Windows Installation Disk, If you have more than 3GB of ram then you should use 64 bit Windows installations, if it is 3GB or less, then you should use 32 bit. If you do not have a Windows Installation Disk, you might like trying Ubuntu(linux) which is better at running minecraft servers than windows of macintosh installations. When you have the installation disk in the computer, restart it and follow the onscreen instructions.

Run Disk Cleanup - Clean up everything

    then

    Run Disk Defragmenter

then if there's no speed increase

Download and Run Malware Bytes Anti-Malware (freeware virus scanner)

If you're still having problems you may benefit from reinstalling windows

posted a message on Has Jeb ruined Minecraft?
The classic minecraft alpha stage may seem to have been more fun because you started playing then. (I know it does for me) but it might not be ruined because of that. Not many games update as much as this does with so much new and controversial content. If you look at Team Fortress 2, about 30% of the people don't like the updates after a certain point, but there's always a way to revert. even in a game like tf2. If you or a friend have saved the classic alpha jars, (or mc nostalgia) then you can play the alpha stage again, even run an alpha server with your friends.

Could I request a feature? Or has this been done before somewhere else? But the Ability to specify and assign othwer blocks transparancy and glass semi transparancy/translucency. I am in great need for this feature and I think it would benifit other texture pack artists as well. Is this possible? Thanks.
