posted a message on Villager trading
There seems to be a slight bug with trading that could be annoying given certain situations. When attempting to make a trade with a villager with more then one active offer, if you fulfill the requirements for the deal on another page, it will still allow the trade to be made.

I need to test to see if this can cause problems for when deals have identical requirements with different results.

If you were to just use one mod,Red Power 2 would be an excellent choice. Everything it adds seems to be in tune with how minecraft likes to be while at the same time adding new content that, given enough effort, will let you do nearly anything you want.

posted a message on Help expanding village
It's nothing against the rest of your buildings, villagers just do that since they run for the closest house. This combined with their tendency to get close to eachother to interact leads to a house bottlenecking. As to your breeding question, there needs to be a certain amount of "houses" per villager, where a house is defined as a door with a roof. I'd get more specific, but I don't want to feed you bad information since this is just stuff that I could remember off the top of my head.

posted a message on What should be done with the ender chest
Well, even if people use it as extra inventory space I wouldn't blame them. Since Minecraft is getting more and more unique items so inventory management is getting to be fairly annoying. If people end up using the enderchests as a method to cover for their lack of skill or whatnot, then that's their problem. I'd end up using it as a linked storage between bases and the like, containing 2 buckets of water, a bucket of lava, and emergency iron tool set, and other handy materials that aren't always necessary but often useful.

it would be interesting if jeb were to reimplement this as a currency. It would be kinda cool if he added pigmen villages that use rubies as money instead of emeralds. then you'd have to keep track of the money for each of the two groups to figure out which would have better deals.

posted a message on Is it true Ender Chests spawn in Blacksmith villages?
technically the enderchest you place would be empty until a village with an enderchest is generated. So because of this fact, it is safe to assume that they do not spawn since a player could easily fill up their own enderchest without generating one in a village. By the time they find one, no new items would generate since the chest is already filled or in use. Makes no sense for it to exist.

posted a message on Please do NOT make leather needed for new book recipe!!
    Quote from DragonHeroBlaze

Leather for making books isn't really a problem. There are a few other ways to get books/bookshelves than killing cows.
-Destroy the bookshelves in NPC villages and strongholds
    -Obtain books from chests
    -Buy bookshelves from librarian villagers
-Just make a cow farm and deal with the new recipe.

I actually agree with the new recipe because the leather is the actual binding for the book, thus the books are somewhat more realistic.
And the fact that books can be written in now by making book+quills is awesome.

I totally agree with this. I'd also like it if cows did drop more leather and pigs dropped more meat. Ever since chickens and cows dropped food, pigs got shoved to the way side since the other mobs either dropped less food or less useful materials.

I don't know if Jeb_ had this planned before hand, but I feel slightly responsible for this being added since I sent him a tweet yesterday suggesting it. The likely situation is that he was going to add this be fore I said anything, but who knows. the coincidence of it all just makes me laugh a bit.

I think it's an awful idea because offline is the only way I, and several people I know, play. They'll be losing out on customers. Not to mention that isn't this the exact kind of DRM (having to be online to play a game) that causes a lot of gamers to actively go out of their way to avoid and or pirate a game just to cause sales losses?

You will still be able to play the game offline, the merge only makes it easier to work on minecraft in general. You can play whenever and wherever you like, all an internet connection lets you do is local host a server on your SSP file, kinda similar to how Xbox does it.

I'm passively supportive of the merge simply because I have no real issues against it. Even in the rough snapshot form the merged game is not unplayable or broken and if at some point in the future the merge 'breaks' singleplayer in some crushing way I'm sure Mojang will fix it. I just don't see anything to freak out about right now. If anything I'm a little excited to see what new things will come about because of the merge.

If anything in the future breaks SSP it will also break SMP. In such a case, Mojang would endeavor to resolve such a problem quickly.

All in all, this merger will make the game better. Now since Mojang only has to code for one game as opposed to 2 separate but similar games, the updates will be a bit more streamlined. Along with that, most of the bugs present in multiplayer are being ironed out since the merge and they are attempting to continue with that, proof being in that one bug difference list they had going a while back. Most of the problems people are worried about due to the difference in modes should be gone by the 1.3 release since they don't intend on releasing a buggy game to the public. This is part of the reason for the snapshots, to allow testing the game before it is "released" to the public. However, if you do find bugs, you can check here to see if it is already known. If not, you can leave a post there or throw a tweet Jeb_'s way. If we're all proactive about it, then there will be nothing to worry about since the guys working on Minecraft right now know their stuff and want it to work as much as you do.

posted a message on What should be done with the ender chest
Personally, I think the enderchest works fine as is. However, large servers may have trouble using it efficiently since it only has a limited amount of space and crafting new chests doesn't solve the problem. I think it needs some way to expand it somehow, whether it be from different inventory channels for people or locking the contents to a player is out for debate. There are positive and negative sides to both solutions, but everything else about the chest is fine by my standards.

If people want to use it to store ore as they mine, so be it. Technology was created to assist man and make our lives easier, so how would that be any different?

    Quote from Lil_Auzzie

I haven't really stop to think about how it would affect multiplayer in that sense, I can see how it can be a problem.
But I do like how it is already set up though, could always add the backpack mod to the server so people can have their own private inventory, or maybe there could be another way added so you can craft a enderchest that is for private use? I just thought of that idea just now.

That's technically how the Mod Enderchest handles inventories. You use dye to set the chest to a certain network with it's own inventory space. The Backpack mod is built so that if you lose the backpack with your stuff in it, you can just craft another and you'd have your gear back. It's a similar principal to Enderchest, except it works better for SSP and is bound to the player. Enderchests on the other hand, are bound to a color network.

EDIT: Adding links to the OP for the mods in question for people who don't know what they are.

posted a message on Enderchests in 1.3
The way I see it, the current set up for the enderchests in 1.3 would be problematic for SMP servers since the inventory is small and shared between everyone. A server with an active community of even 5 people could easily fill it up and still have items to add. However this wouldn't be an issue in SSP since there is only you, the player, filling it up. The concept of an inventory you can access from anywhere would be a welcome addition to minecraft, but in the end, there is only so much you can do with an extra 27 slots of space if you have a server with 10+ people on it. Having the extra channels would be useful in SMP since each player could have their own space, which other people could access and could set up a mail type system. Alternately, it could be set up so the contents of the chest are player bound resolving the space problem, but also removing the concept of sharing items. Personally, I'm all for having the enderchest reflect how it is in the enderstorage mod, since you can do quite a bit with the various channels in SSP as well as SMP.

But enough of my rambling, what are your thoughts on the matter my fellow Minecrafters?
