    While i can appreciate the effort to add more difficulty to the survival aspect of this game, that is NOT the way to do it. Food isnt a mechanic that makes survival hard, it makes it tedious. So this recommendation would only amplify how annoying hunger is, if anything i'd rather have hydration brought into the game and have hunger drain over time(but VERY slowly). Instead have thirst drain while being active(running, jumping, etc.). Water would be easier to grasp at pretty much any location, just bring some empty bottles and you're set.

    So these bars are pretty much a pure upgrade from redstone dust.

    Essentially, yes. Considering the resource cost it wouldn't be entirely bad. One negative though may be the fact that they would obstruct movement, so when making a redstone machine in tight spaces it would simply be too inconvenient to use them.

    Seems so. As for the aesthetic part, would these be like wires on the ground or actually look as if a you plunked a gold ingot on the ground?

    They would look similar to the Iron Bars block, but of course with a more gold-friendly texture.

    posted a message on Gold Bars

    I had a idea to help expand on the value of redstone and potential for redstone machines, with a new item called Gold Bars.

    Crafting:

    G-G-G

    R-R-R = 8-16 Gold Bars

    G-G-G

    G= Gold Ingot

    R= Redstone Dust

    Purposes:

    - Functions as redstone wire(conducts a redstone current).

    - Details:

    - The current would be transferred in the directions the bars are placed.

    - The bars would be pushable with a piston so they would also work as a movable conductor.

    - I could see this being very good for a situation where multiple gold bars with pistons could be used as a key or puzzle without using solid blocks

    - The bars could(maybe) sustain a redstone current for a farther distance than standard wire.

    - Stacking the bars would allow for a easier and neater method to raise and lower redstone currents straight up or down.

    - While powered, they damage entities that contact them(perhaps at the same rate as cactus).

    - While powered, they emit the same amount of light as a redstone ore block(though this would likely end up being too laggy).

    - While powered, they emit a particle effect similar to electricity(potential lag causer again).

    I know that this type of blocks would kind of take away from the creativity needed for redstone machinery so some people may not be on board. But even without the redstone mechanics part, gold bars would still be a nice addition to decorative materials in the game. I'd like to hear what others have to think about this idea too!

    Additional Information:

    As i said in the first post for this thread, 4 gigabytes of allocated ram. Also ive never seen miencraft limit itself at half the ram i give it, on the mod packs with 150+ mods is uses 2700 megabytes, which is over half... Why would minecraft use half of what you give it. If it wants more ram and then doesnt use it all what is the point?

    Okay ill try that method of installing optifine, Also i know how to allocate ram its just running out of ram while its not even using it all. As for the clean install ive already done that and it just starts to fail after some time anyways.

    After trying to remove some mods(WHICH DIDNT HELP) minecraft "ran out of memory" which is total BS since it was using 500MB out of 2700MB of ram. What in the possible universe can be causing this?

    No its not... ive run mod packs with 178 mods before and its only used 2 gigabytes... These 55 mods are using 500MB and its stuttering until it crashes. Ive also checked a few compatibility lists and they optifine is NOT compatible. Are they lying?

    EDIT: Just tested optifine and no its not compatible just as they said.

    I have 55 mods installed, 64 bit java, 4GB of allocated ram, vsync is off, and i cant install optifine because it isnt compatible with mods. Anyone have a cluse as to why i get this stutter? The way it happens is that it starts off with a stutter every 30 seconds or so, then it starts to happen more and more often until it simply crashes minecraft.

    posted a message on Galacticraft causes freezing at world gen!
    I recently installed Galacticraft and now minecraft refuses to create worlds, there is no crash log because it freezes, i have to end the process in order to close minecraft. I have latest forge, micdoodle core, and galacticraft. Latest java as well. I also have around 50 other mods installed and during the initial startup there were some id conflicts but i resolved them and now the worlds wont generate.
