GerbilCrab475 posted a message on The Aether and New Nether: Now with Fluids!Posted in: Suggestions
Welcome to the Aether and New Nether Suggestion.
History
The Aether is one of the most commonly suggested ideas for Minecraft. Back in the old days of Minecraft,a suggestion was made to add in a anti-Nether realm known as the Aether. It became one of the largest suggestions made but as Minecraft updated; many of its ideas became obsolete. This suggestion is the spiritual successor to the original suggestion. Along with the Aether suggestion came another one that suggested a Nether overhaul. This suggestion became almost as big as the Aether suggestion but also had the same problems as Minecraft updated. I will be remaking this suggestion here as well.
Disclaimer
I'll say it now, I am well aware of the Aether mod's existence, however I do not believe that mod really goes along the line with what the original suggestion wanted. The Aether mod makes the Aether a place that makes the rest of the vanilla game pointless. There is no point in leaving because everything in the Aether is better than anything on the overworld. The mod transforms Minecraft into a new RPG in the sky; something that is no longer Minecraft. Not only that but the mod adds so much content that each update takes ages to be made. The amount of content in this suggestion is tiny compared to what is in the mod. Please try to leave the mod out of this discussion, especially if it is something dumb like "There is a mod for this you know". This suggestion is inspired by the original suggestion, not the mod.
The Aether
Like in the original suggestion, the Aether will be a dimension that consists of floating sky islands. They appear peaceful, but many of the Aether's residents are not fond of your presence and will try to attack you. Some will even hide from you. Various features can be found on top of the islands such as forests of golden trees and lakes of water. Creatures such as marbells, zephyrs and beetles roam them. But how is the Aether accessed exactly? Through the use of a portal made up of endstone. Although the original suggestion suggested glowstone to be used, glowstone is now very easy to obtain compared to back then. Also, endstone would be a good choice because now there is an actual reason to defeat the Enderdragon besides getting a temporary experience reward.
The New Nether
The Nether is quite bland. Almost all of the new content that has been added since the Nether's introduction has been put into Nether Forts. It seriously needs more content outside of these areas. The Nether should also be way more dangerous to be in compared to the overworld. Armor should basically be a requirement to be in the Nether, otherwise strong monsters such as the new salamanders and gluttons will destroy the player. The new monsters won't out mode the old ones either for the old monsters, such as ghasts, will be stronger than they ever were. Now everything besides fire and lava will be unique to the Nether. Things like gravel and mushrooms will be replaced with more hazardous versions of them such as embers and mushraves.

007kingifrit posted a message on i cant stand singleplayer in 1.9Posted in: Recent Updates and Snapshotsi only play survival mode in minecraft, i like to build big complex structures over many years without creative mode slowly toiling away at the land. and 1.9 is torture for me
it has ruined survival mode just so that the pvpers can have their "fun" (it sounds like even they dont like it)
why do skeletons backpedal away from me? sure ok its "harder" (if you think frustration is the same as difficulty) all it really means is that i have to chase after the enemy while they are knocking me back and that is sooooooo tedious, does nobody else see the irony of an update that was designed to prevent spam clicking that now has enemies dart around making combat more frantic?
i do like the attack speed system, it opens up possibilities for daggers and hammers and all sorts of other fun new weapons based on new balance options around attack speeds, but the mobs in survival are just frustrating right now, afterall what do the pvpers care about the mobs anyways?

ethanciavo posted a message on A legitamite criticism of 1.9 PvE combatPosted in: Recent Updates and SnapshotsI noticed a lot of people in this section have been complaining about the 1.9 combat system. But their arguments just seem to boil down to "I miss the old spam-click combat system". My argument here is not that I miss the old combat system, which was even worse than this one, but that the new one is still not satisfactory. In this case, however, I only dislike the combat system in PvE scenarios, not PvP scenarios. PvP combat is fine under the new system.
Fighting mobs in the game before 1.9 was time consuming and boring, and pretty much about pressing left click a lot. Now, fighting mobs is even more time consuming, still just as boring, and comprises of less clicks than before. This is because most mobs are designed around early game. Since
you can encounter most mobs very early in the game, the difficulty it takes to fight a mob is balanced around that point. Since early game mobs are designed to be simpler to make them combat-able early game, there is no need to use alternate tactics (shields, tipped arrows, spectral arrows, potions, etc.) on those mobs at any point in the game. Which means that doing anything other than using a sword and bow is a waste of time and resources. There are some late-game mobs that do allow you to effectively use these variations in combat, such as blazes, wither skeletons, ender dragons, and withers. But for the most part, it's a pointless endeavor.
To fix this, I propose that on top of mobs receiving better armor and weapons as local difficulty scales, they should also gain access to other combat items (zombies would receive potions and shields, skeletons would receive tipped arrows, etc.). Perhaps some mobs would get extra attacks, as well.
Spiders could gain the ability to jump high into the air and attack from above. Creepers could start actually chasing the player down when attempting to explode. Zombies could have a charge attack that causes them to sprint in one direction for a certain amount of time, and so on. -

Hi the Linux flaws have been fixed of you update, in fact it was fixed within an hour of the finding. The yellow media likes to make mountains out of molehills. Linux and the new launcher work fine. Minecraft and Linux are amazing.

I can NOT stand the combat crap, and on my personal server, I go into the settings and straight up disable it. It is by far the worst thing to ever happen to Minecraft, and this has Microsoft written all over it. Microsoft are user hostile via Windows 8 and 10, first a bad UI and then a spyware OS. They no longer care about your opinion. Best to use an older version, or find a new game like the rest of us have.
1
I am on the 2.0 bandwagon, 1.10 looks just retarded. Remove the version number "1.x" and call it Minecraft version 10 if you aren't going to follow numerical logic. Everyone on the planet thinks this way so why cause confusion?
2
Look I know how version numbers work. I write programs and do IT for a company in Painted Post, NY, but they call themselves the Corning office. Why? Because it looks better, Corning is a recognized name.
Think of your clients who play the game, children. You will save less time by changing the number to either 2.0 or version 10 without the 1. in front.
You can stick to your guns, wasting everybody's time, or nip this right now and go all out and go BAM 2.0 release! 2.0 looks better on packaging. 2.0 hits the ear better than 1.10. Numerically it makes sense. You don't have to rewrite the code, and if this was the reason for 2.0, 1.8 should have been called 2.0.
Do the socially acceptable thing for once, please. Being obstinate for the sake of your nerd pride just makes people upset at you.

I can't speak for everyone, here is my list of complaints on 1.9
nerffed armor
nerfed combat
removed notch apples
forced into using 1.9 for realms
enchanting now pretty much a requirement to survive longer than 5 minutes
ender pearl can't be used in creative mode
cured zombie villagers don't keep their profession
can't trade with villagers that have a custom name after dying
and last but not least... STILL NO AETHER!!!!!!!!!!

Not cool at all in any way shape or form! Put them back! I have little to no interest in 1.9 as it is and you wanna ruin the game even further by removing good things? What for?
1
I don't PVP, I know a lot of people who don't PVP.
Breaking my game because of PVP is not cool. Remove it from PVP realms only. If you have PVP on, turn off gapples completely, but for PVE leave things alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate nerfs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop it! Not cool! I just have 0 interest in Minecraft after all of this, meaning all the people in my group will probably dissolve playing, which means no new players will come in, because "Minecraft sucks now and isn't worth playing, if you do play older versions, but stay away from any updates past 1.8.8"
This equates to less money for Minecraft Realms.
2
Most people made gold farms in the nether. None of the changes make sense, they nerf everything thats fun about Minecraft then watch as people either get enraged or don't care and accept the coming fate.
4
No they need to put it back the way it was. "finding" a finite number of items is not fun in any way for most of us. They are simply making an update which caters to a small number of players meanwhile giving the finger to the community at large. I am not happy with any of the changes and strongly dislike the direction Minecraft is headed! Notch come back and save us from Micro$oft!!!!! Please!!!!!!!

Interesting or not, it should be entirely optional, not forced. Let the server owner, or the player in single player enforce the rules. Don't force them on us. This is very user hostile and very unwelcome. I feel that if these new additions were optional instead of forced, it would be a far better experience for the player.
Armor damage = less armor rating
weapon cooldown, Minecraft isn't World of Warcraft!
I feel these additions to be very very user hostile and offer nothing other than a level of difficulty that should be able to be turned off. I am strongly against these new additions and will speak out against them in public form. I will find people like minded to help my cause. Please make them an option. While these additions are a good idea, forcing them down the player's throat is in no way the way to handle them. Even on easy, they are there and I can find no way of turning them off. Please make this a discover-able button in options under difficulty settings as they offer quite literally nothing to the game other than nerfing the experience.
Thank you for your consideration in this manner, and your attention to it. I look forward in hopes you address these game breaking issues.
