I've had a huge mobgrinder project going for a few weeks now, basically a 4 chunks wide hole from surface to bedrock with floors etc etc.
My collectionspot and grinder is near bedrock, and it just so happened that it was a viable slime spawn down there :smile.gif:
I'm rarely that lucky.
In the course of construction me and my bud picked up about 9 stacks of slimeballs down there just whilst working on the other stuff.
That`s really cool. I wish my grinder was located in a slime spawning chunk.
There is no such thing as luck, it's just probability. You could easily just mine a 100 x 100 x 3 box at bedrock and if you're in the right chunk, loads of them will spawn. Trust me, I have done it many times and it works.
Come to think of it, I never tried mining that BIG since I don`t have the time to do it. I should try harder to find them.
At least you guys are lucky that they spawned in natural caves. I could not find any cave that had slime spawning chunks so I had to dig this. But yeah, 64 slime balls is not worth it. I just thought that it would be cool to have a farm just in case.
In the Beta 1.7 update, Notch included the creation of pistons and sticky pistons as well. But unfortunately, sticky pistons require a slime ball to craft. And slime balls can only come from one the rarest mobs in the game: slimes. So I used a tool that I found here in the forums which was made by "trunkz". Btw, a really, really big thank you to him for making this tool since this farm would not be possible without it.
So here are some pics:
Exterior
Interior
The Farm Itself (65% finished)
This is the Observatory
This is where the slimes are supposed to fall then be killed to yield their slime balls. But of course it is still a work in progress.
Things Still Needed to Be Done:
The Water "Conveyor Belts"
To dig another 3 chunks to optimize slime spawning
The Mob Aligner
And Everything Else that I for got to mention.
Feel free to add any comments/suggestions/criticism.

I guess you have a point. You could make a giant cake with that.

Oh btw, SkyPiercers do you play Monster Hunter? Your avatar looks like the Barioth Armor.
