Agreeing with Rayziik here. I tend to have the same problem with sticking to worlds- I usually just explore around and look at the terrain and then never even look at that save again. But when I actually start building anything it creates an attachment to the world and I start coming back to it regularly.
Me and my boyfriend are waiting until 1.3 comes out to make the survival server we've been planning (don't want to get too attached to a world and then have to start from scratch with the update), so we'll do that. I also want to start a village expansion project now that there's an economy.
Edit: Also LAN! I've been waiting for LAN capability for ages. It'll be fun to play minecraft with my friends and siblings when they visit.
Sandstone villages are only in the snapshot releases of Minecraft 1.3. It sounds like you're still running 1.2.5, which does not have those features yet. 1.3 will come out very soon, so just be patient
Nice build! It looks really nice, you guys must've put a lot of effort into this. I'd recommend a little bit of info on what the build is in the thread and the title though, it'll make more people want to look at it
You won't be able to find one if you only have the regular game; they're only available in the beta pre-releases (or "snapshots") of Minecraft 1.3. Snapshots tend to be kind of buggy and could potentially damage your game and your saves if you don't make backups and don't really know what you're doing. Minecraft 1.3 will be released very soon though, so if you're ok with waiting I would recommend checking out the pyramids in the completed and less buggy version.
I did some exploring around 404NameNotFound and it is truly amazing. I love the floating islands in and around the village. I uploaded the map and some screenshots to imgur, gallery here. The spawn is in the southernmost part of the map; after finding the first village I decided to make a boat and try to follow the river to the ocean. It took a very long time! At the end I found the awesome overhangs and floating structures, along with a teensy little village along the coast. Only three buildings, a well, and a farm. No blacksmith. It would make a great project for anyone who's wanted to expand a village and feels like making the long trek out to it since it's very far from the spawn.
1. Make certain that the wiki is structured around MC versions. When the terrain generator changes, all seeds from that version and later need to be seperate from those of older versions.
This this this. There should be categories for versions of the game to help separate things out- that way, people can go to the page for that category to see all the seeds from that version of minecraft. Also, I think the "seed list" in the main menu of the site should show seeds from the current version only to reduce confusion.
I would definitely contribute to this if it was a wiki. For each page I think there should be a screenshot of a full in-game map with the spawn in the center, and coordinates for any structures (dungeons, villages, etc). There could also be categories based on what biome you spawn in and whatnot.
1. I forget where the spawn is exactly but I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around here because I remember the swamp being nearby.
2. You'll want to be careful while walking around here, there's tons of holes in the ground and a couple ravines. Also a surprising amount of height variation for just a regular forest, and I hear height variation is what the kids are into nowadays.
3. Pretty typical Extreme Hills fare, but there was one mountain around here that kind of reminded me of the swoopy-loopy one from Nightmare Before Christmas.
4. Desert Village! There is a blacksmith; aside from the normal food items there were a few gold ingots, an iron helmet, and iron boots. There's also some really interesting exposed stone around here.
This is sort of like a combination of a bunch of ideas already mentioned, but I think a secret underwater lab would be really cool. Lots of brewing stands and materials for potions, a greenhouse, maybe some cages for living "specimens." I think it would be really cool to have hostile mobs in cages to study, but that would be really difficult/dangerous.
I've been using this pack for a few weeks and I absolutely love it. Most of the time I find alternate texture packs a little too jarring and wind up going back to the default, but I was able to adapt to this one just fine and everything I build looks way better with it. I love that the different kinds of planks have different textures because it gives them different uses- for example, jungle wood makes the perfect rafters for my ceilings.
I didn't notice that there was a Customizer until now, so I'll have to fiddle with it and see if I find anything I like. All in all, wonderful texture pack!

Nice! I didn't really try exploring underground but the caves did look promising. I'll have to try it out later.

Here's the map when I put in pixelettos-
I highlighted a couple points of interest.
