posted a message on Ah... Small Or Medium Worlds in PS3/X360? Obviously We Still In Classic Size Worlds? Is This Impossible?!

360 and ps3 are pretty much maxed out. As it is, our worlds get pretty laggy once you build them out even on our small worlds. I can't remember where the threads were, but I'm positive I've seen 4J Steve mention a few times that there are no plans to give bigger worlds to the older systems.

posted a message on Is anyone else attempting to design an advanced Iron Golem farm?

can someone explain it in short words, because im not reading all of that text

    Entitled much?

They weren't answering a question you asked, so I don't see why they should care what you think, especially when you say it in such a rude way. If the original poster can follow what's going on, then that's all that matters (since his original post is rather long, I'd say he doesn't mind).

Perhaps you didn't realize that what you essentially said was: "hi, I'm feeling lazy today and don't feel like reading anything that will take actual effort, so why don't you two completely re-write your entire conversation for me, so that I don't have to exercise my eyes and brain. In other words, my time is more valuable than yours."

Maybe that isn't what you intended, but that's how it comes across.

posted a message on Stupid mobs!! No, literally

I've also noticed passive and hostile mobs forgetting how to path as soon as the get in the water. A very similar, if not the same, thing happened when 1.8 hit on PC. Looks like this may be yet another cut/paste job of the original faulty code by 4J instead of fixing known bugs as they go. For the life of me, I don't understand why we get the same bugs as PC when there has been a known fix for these things at least a year before we get them, mainly because they should know exactly what to look for during testing. Its like being warned about a pothole in the street, seeing it coming, and blowing a tire on it anyway.

I don't think it's luck - I think it's that I don't allow them to despawn (e.g. on top of leaves that take too much time to despawn on their own) or on the ground (by not hanging around and collecting them). Another possible difference is that I don't tend to use a lot of bonemeal... I tend to just go do a different task while waiting for things to grow naturally. I notice I do get more with trees I plant myself as opposed to the wild ones and more if I plant them farther apart (so the leaves from one tree don't merge into the one(s) beside it). In my main world, I've cut down precisely 2 "wild" dark oak trees (getting only 7 saplings to start). I planted one tree and got 6 saplings from it, then planted 2 trees and got more than 8, so I planted 2 again. I now have 6 dark oaks planted, about 8 stacks of dark oak wood (after using a bunch on my iron golem farm), and 19 unplanted saplings in my chest. I haven't had a single tree drop less than the 4 saplings it took to grow it since that first "wild" one.

Dude. You don't need to tell me how to suck eggs. I'm not an idiot. You really think I would say what I did without using the same techniques you are? I didn't specifically list them, because, at this point, they are pretty much assumed. I don't tell you 2+2=4 either, because I assume you know this by now. These aren't new concepts. Its the same way people have maximized jungle sapling drops for years, since they tend to be stingy with them as well. Don't insult my intelligence, and I won't insult yours.

Its probabilities. Some people will, over the life of their worlds, get more drops. Some won't. Its a bell curve. My only point is if one wants to guarantee that they will have plenty of dark oak to build with, start with as large a roofed forest as you can without sacrificing other biomes you want to play with. If you start with only a few trees, you take a chance of running out. You may, you may not. Just depends on your tolerance for risk.

I get less than four saplings back per tree fairly often. Just because you don't doesn't mean others have the same result.

Guess you're just lucky then. Unless 4J messed with the drop rate from the PC code (and I hope they did), the normal rate is 2-3 per tree over the long term. I'm on my third seed now, because the first two I started had small dark oak forests, only a dozen or so total trees to start, and I pretty quickly ran out of saplings before I had more than a single chest full of dark oak wood. I did the same things you did, making sure I didn't miss any drops.

Dark oak can be planted and made into your own dark oak forest... just replace one of the regular forests with dark oak trees and you soon won't know the difference. I think I spotted some rose bushes. I'll go back in and try to find them again. I didn't spot either a flower forest or a sunflower forest (which means you'll be missing alium and sunflowers)... but everything else is probably there since rose bushes, lilacs, etc. will spawn in normal forests and tulips will spawn in normal plains and, I think, on savannahs.

ETA: Sorry, not rosebushes, but poppies (my old eyes aren't quite what they once were - lol).

I'm afraid that won't work long term. Dark oaks are even stingier than jungle trees when dropping saplings. Add to that the fact that you have to use four each time, and you will eventually run out of saplings to plant, as over time each whole tree averages only 2-3 sapling drops.

If you start with a small roofed forest, it will be difficult to do large builds with dark oak.

I think you must have mistyped the seed. Either than or you are on an xbox one, and this is the 360 forum. The seed you listed is an ocean map with almost no land, just a few tiny islands. No villages that I saw, no jungle, no taiga. Two spruce trees of on a very tiny island. Only a few dark oak, one acacia tree on a postage stamp savanna, no mesa. The only things it has that you claim is at least on ocean monument, and I assume it has a stronghold, since every seed is supposed to have one. It might make a decent survival island map, but there isn't enough there for anything else.

I noticed on the change log that packed ice is listed, but the ice spike biome is not. Does that mean packed ice will only be available in creative like acacia and dark oak are now, or is the ice spike biome in the update and just not specifically listed on the change log?

posted a message on TU31 Confirmed features

Looking forward to building an endermite based ender farm on a new world. Shouldn't take nearly as long to build as the old way. About the only thing I'd still love to have is nether mobs spawning in the void, but since that'll probably never happen, I'm pretty content.

Now to find a seed with witch farm, mesa, mega taiga, ice biome, extreme hills, jungle, savanna, and desert all in the same world. Not even sure that's possible on a 360 size seed, but it'll be fun scouting to try to find out.

I really don't see the point of spectator mode on console edition. There's no dedicated server of someone to look in on. No UHCs to spectate. You're just playing with a few people you know on one or your own boxes. With such a small group, what's the point of being in spectator, other than cheaty, underground cave finding? If that's your thing, just use glowstone.

posted a message on Tick Lag in an Offline Game after TU23?

I dusted it out when I started lagging, hoping that would fix the issue. I'm not noticing any hard drive issues, like corrupted files or anything. My 360's just under 8 years old at this point, so it might be wearing out. If it is, though, its pretty crappy. Its definitely gotten way less than average use, I would say, plus I don't have lag issues with any other games, or any other minecraft saves, for that matter. Just the one that I have the most stuff built on.

posted a message on Tick Lag in an Offline Game after TU23?

I thought of something that shouldn't, but might be causing the "server" tag. As I said previously, I've disabled/killed all my redstone, lava, waterfalls, friendly mobs, but I do have a fairly large group of buildings in the spawn chunks. Is it possible to overload the xbox360's RAM just with blocks, even without the other normal lag producers?

Since the normal answer to tick lag in the PC version seems to be generally "add RAM to the server", is it just that the xbox just can only handle so many structures in one spot on the map?
