posted a message on World Editing SOS
Hey guys I need a pinch of help trying to get world edit to work properly again. Ok, so I've been building my first adventure map in the style of Castlevania and the Legend of Zelda. To do this, I installed Mod Loader, Too Many Items, and Single Player Commands (now automatically carrying world edit). I started building on a super flat map, where I made an "underground" fishing town. I filled a massive amount of water on the ground, where it started to spill all over the place. When I was satisfied, I began to cave in the area with a brush made from a bone (the settings being /brush sphere stone 5). It was working fine, until however the game kept crashing. So, I got back on, put a border around and trimmed the size of the water, changed my video settings to increase performance, but the brushes and the wand wouldn't work anymore. //pos works fine and the game doesn't crash now I guess, but what I really need is the brush and wand to make the map a cave. Any suggestions to get it to work again?

Thanks for listening to my life story,

And the Predator lives... These would be awesome for plugins like factions, where you can get a skull from someone if they have full power in their stats. Maybe even a name tag over the skull of the dead guy. Either way, can't wait!

BTW- Jeb needs to add stone statues like steve on a pig or gargoyles (implying nether demons), like on gothic cathedrals.

posted a message on [Mob Concept + Art] Ghoul
Love the idea! However, there are only some mechanics that I would change. For one thing, zombies spawn very frequently and seeing such an abnormal thing should be very rare, much like the enderman (although I would make the ghoul rarer). Also, this creature strikes me as a large brute, much like Frankenstein's monster. Therefore it must be able to deal a very great amount of damage compared to a regular old zombie. Although this monster is absolutely fantastic (I love the elongated head and deformed eyes.) I might suggest being able to create it, in some sort of mysterious "ender voodoo." For ideas, watch old horror movies like the Golem or even Frankenstein himself. This could turn out to be a huge success. BTW, make that thing BIG (about the size of an iron golem.) Thank you for your time.

i would suggest having a box around it like a painting, possibly as hard to break as stone. as for the art, look at the graphics from the atari 2600, in which u would have to use your imagination more. thats what i would like to see. great idea btw! (although i know this post is old)

posted a message on Trophycraft: Slay your enemies and take their skulls!
Hey guys I just wanted to share an idea that I've had for a while now, which is a mod that will allow you to take trophies (like Predator). Basically what will happen is that in SMP you will receive one skull for every person that you kill in the game. Like doors or buckets they cannot be stacked, as they will have the username of each player killed in battle. Keep in mind the fact that this could be exploited, as people could just keep slaying others over and over again. Then there is the issue of being able to actually see the items in game, since other players would have to download the mod (although I'm not a geek who would confirm that). I guess it would have to be a client-side plugin... I THINK. Another idea for this mod is the ability to place them, so that you can decorate your fort with the stories of the past. I don't know if that will be a good idea though, because even though it will scare off your enemies, it will also encourage them to steal the skulls. To solve this, simply make it so that right clicking the skulls either when placed or when in your hand, it will show who made the kill. This can open up new possibilities by being able to write an account of how they were slayed! If you guys like it, I hope you will find time to code something like this up! Please be sure to give credit!

    Quote from Shaudo

This idea has a lot of potential because cattails are one of the most edible and useful plants in the swamp. It's one of the few plants that can save your life if you get lost in the wilderness.

The plant produces edible shoots, leaves and pollen, and rhizomes that can be broken down into starch (a new soup recipe?). Immature seed heads can be cooked and eaten like corn on the cob. The down on the mature seed heads is flammable and soft enough to stuff mattresses (new wool recipe?). The mature leaves have been found in thatched roofs, woven baskets, rugs, chair backs, and more. The ash from the burned leaves can be used to stop bleeding from cuts. The plant itself produces an antiseptic jelly between the leaves, which can be used as a salve on burns and other closed-wound sources of inflammation. The different parts of the plant can be used for other crafts more numerous than I can properly remember but, in short, the entire plant is almost worthy of its own update or mod.

If the plant grew in stages, like wheat, and could be harvested either by hand or with shovels (to harvest the rhizome and effectively destroy the source block), one might get close to the real value of this plant in-game. Not that reality is necessary because, as the OP stated, they are a decorative plant and would add to the game regardless of whether or not the other uses became available, but it would be pretty cool.

I didn't know that, so thank you! I guess now my idea is a little stronger now huh?

Calm down, you angry children. If you read a little more carefully you'll see this: "If you would seriously like to improve the feeling of these forgotten places, it would be to include fragments of some kind of history to them (written books with curious texts, signs with the like, subterranean churches, or a sacrificial pit with an abandoned monster's cage below.) This is all I can really say, as I think that making these things a bit more complex will create new worlds of adventure for the player." Jeez, why do you people feel the need to correct me?

posted a message on Cattails (The swamp plant)
    Dear Mojang,

This is just a simple suggestion for something that I would like to add to the game. My idea is to improve the look of swamps by populating it with cattails, something never before seen in the world of Minecraft. I don't really think that the swamp biome looked finished, and I think the reason is because it is too spread out and uncongested. I live around a very large swamp, which is mostly populated with cattails, which leech off the water's edge in a short forest. I would suggest having large clusters of these outlining the waters and in bunches on land. They would stand 2 blocks high and would not drop anything as of the moment due to their uselessness. Because of this, they are used solely for decoration, just like ferns. I think this would really be just a step more to making the game more pleasing to the eye, something that you guys at Mojang have a natural gift for!

    Thanks again,

posted a message on Iron chests remake
This is actually a very good idea! The only thing I would have to add is that the chest would need some kind of way to indicate when it's locked/unlocked. This is by no means useless, as it has the same properties as an iron door. To those who said it would be simpler to just break the chest, let me explain that that comment also makes iron doors obsolete. Therefore, my opinion is add this in!

posted a message on How to improve ruins further...
    Dear Mojang,

Although I can't explain why, my favorite thing in the game is the presence of ancient, abandoned structures above and under the ground (strongholds, pyramids, temples.) I guess I just love delving down into the imaginary confides of unknown history. It fascinates me into constructing large-scale pranks on my friend's server, in which I build underground occultist labyrinths (complete with villager priests and rumored libraries), to scare the pants off of those who dare venture within. These projects, which I arrogantly name "natural architecture," are built with intense care to contain the basic elements of natural structures made by Notch's employees (correct stone brick ratio, irregular floating iron bars, or unevenly-built chambers), resulting in an eerily realistic haunted fortress, well, or bridge. As mentioned, I love the way these things are built, and would therefore like to see more of it in the future. I get a lot of ideas for these structures from reading tales by H.P. Lovecraft, a novelist obsessed with images of endless, cryptic, alien cities and maddeningly horrifying temples of hellish things, all of which lead the protagonist to go insane with fright. If you would seriously like to improve the feeling of these forgotten places, it would be to include fragments of some kind of history to them (written books with curious texts, signs with the like, subterranean churches, or a sacrificial pit with an abandoned monster's cage below.) This is all I can really say, as I think that making these things a bit more complex will create new worlds of adventure for the player.

Thank you for such an amazing game,

    Quote from pwajnkaim
this is the 5th thread I have seen suggesting gold to replace emeralds. I don't want to waste time by explaining why I think this is a bad idea so I will just say this: Jeb is making emeralds the currency. It's that simple, you can't change it so don't try to.

It's not pointless in America, son. You can ALWAYS make a difference, no matter how small.

posted a message on Throw Out Emerald Currency, Bring in...
    Dear Mojang,

I have an idea I would like to share which has surprisingly never really been talked about: currency. As of 1.3, Minecraft will be having a new ore know as the emerald. The only use these gems will have as of the moment is a currency for the game, in which the player can exchange them for villager goods. May I ask, why emeralds? Emeralds are the most random gemstone out of others such as rubies, amethysts, topaz, and sapphires! If I were going to pay for something with the resources available in the game, I would rather use something like gold or diamonds (if not, I'd pay in chickens!) If you are not already insulted, here me out: why not be able to turn each gold nugget you have into a gold coin? After raising the prices on villager goods you will have a more universal currency, which has been used by thousands of other cultures in the past (see Spain, Greece, Persia.) That way, people will no longer view gold as "worthless" as I hear most people say (you can only make weak tools and other obscurities, plus nobody cares about nuggets anyways.) People will start hoarding gold more, trading with one another more often, instead of looking for something that's harder to find than diamonds. Overall, I think every other detail in Minecraft is flawless. Good work on such an amazing game!

    Sincerely, petrusd987
