"Just a stupid block of grass"? Who's to say that "stupid block of grass" doesn't symbolize minecraft enough as is? This is basically one of those opinion-based suggestions that's presented in an arrogant manner.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize how strongly you felt about it. : (

I was looking at the icon for Minecraft, and I noticed how it was just a stupid block of grass. That got me thinking: there should really be like an official in-game block that would symbolize Mojang and the whole kaboodle. Obtainable of course by creative, but it would just be like a really special block to represent the whole achievement of this amazing game. Hmm...

Anything special? is their a haunted cabin? is there large amounts of pumpkins and rare Jack-o-Laterns

actually, more pumpkins and a haunted cabin sound pretty nice. i actually thought about putting a hermit's camp in this idea, but didn't want to complicate it. as for leaves and saplings, well when you plant a regular sapling in the biome, it changes the leaf colors when it grows. as for leaves, well no. don't muddy this up, i just want the designers to put in an autumn forest. let them put the final touches in iti wanted to add these because autumn forests are pretty, yet have that ominously occult side to them that remind me of the Blair Witch Project.

posted a message on Autumn Forest- Very Easy Idea
hey guys its almost halloween and i came up with a simple idea to add a new biome. i like the forests in mine craft, but i honestly think they should add a rare one for autumn, with the foliage textures changed a bit to make it look like halloween. first, change the leaf textures so that each tree gets a different shade of orange or red, however all you need for this forest is like 3 colors (yellow, red, and orange, which will be the most common). then, make the grass yellowish-tan. as for the rarity, a little easier to find then the mushroom biome. done.

    check it out here:

i think this looks beautiful and could be a great feature to the game. show jeb this idea!

very clever! however i would suggest removing the two extra legs, as they make the ant people look clunky. i would suggest making them look like humanoids with a different face and body structure. Overall, its a great idea and I hope to see something like this in the game, although I do not expect them to have a more complicated society as villagers do. These varmints (lol) remind me of the Selenites from "The First Men in the Moon" by H.G. Wells, whom were insect-like aliens that lived in a socialized utopian society (although the system is a mere fantasy). However, I would prefer to see them as some hostile race of barbarians that you must defeat to take the riches in their colony. Either way, nice work!

posted a message on The Dragon Thread: Let's Get the Red Dragon Into Minecraft!
one question: if this new dimension is 50 blocks over the BUILDING limit, then how do you get up there? i hope it's flying monkeys...
    Quote from aminecraftguy00

Minecraft has always needed it and will have it, at the very least it will be added around 1.4. I've heard this from someone who almost literally stalks Jeb and Notch on twitter and knows almost everything (He predicted coloured planks in 1.1 and the LAN feature just before 1.2). This friend of mine knows that if the red dragon is ever added, it will come with dragon armor + dragon swords, just like a mod. Wanna hear something else? He also predicted the ender dragon getting bigger and harder, breathing fire and being tameable (Throwing eye of enders around the end to tame it, then climbing up its tail). The ender dragon egg may be used to spawn the red dragon in dragon lairs or at the top of giant mountains.

Now, I know that %60 of everyone reading this won't believe this, but I don't care what you have to say to me, nor will I even see your post.

Anyway, the skylands idea is decent, along with griffens. Let's hope this thread keeps getting support. :)

And to the critics seeing my post, good luck trying to get me to see your replies. Good day.

if that's true then jeb is a complete moron to make the ENDER DRAGON tamable.

nice idea, but the design needs some work. the gold and blue are very contrasting and make it look stupid. how about solid gold body, copper trimming, and black eyes to imply a hollow interior. as for the crest on its head, its very cool, but how about replacing that with buddha ears? overall though, its a solid idea. post this idea on jeb's twitter.

posted a message on Making the Nether Diverse
i think they should make the nether look more like hell, with randomly generated prisons in the sides of mountains, flying demons, villager cults, etc. the nether would essentially be chaotic madness, with an overly bureaucratic demon-government (since hell is the opposite of heaven: highly congested and human in nature). essentially when you would go down there, all you would find is fighting between the pigmen, the demons, the villagers, the skeletons, etc- and that's a place NOBODY would dare to go to (except for us adventurers of course). it wouldn't be on the scale of a civil war or anything, but rather little pockets of fighting and terror all over the place. also, make the nether look different at different layers, like having mushrooms and smooth stone generating at the top, while lava lakes and nether fortresses at the bottom. lol maybe even add ouija boards for the player to get haunted by an invisible entity (but only in the over world).

    Quote from Brinjal66

You didn't read the post properly, did you? It's purpose is to control non-farm animals, not to do the same thing as wheat.

Not if the player was immobilised while playing the flute, then it would be like placing a torch, then removing it.

This is minecraft, it doesn't have to make sense!

I agree but if the flute had low durability and immobilised the player, it would be less powerful and therefore would only be used when really needed.

yeah i guess that could work
    Quote from Brinjal66

I like your idea, but it should have a low durability and you should not be able to move while using it to make it less powerfull, then 0_zippy couldn't complain!
I think there should be one called "canine" which teleports your wolves to you, and if they're already near you, it makes them attack nearby mobs!

brilliant!how about this enchantment if durability is added:

Water Nymph (Tier I)- When playing the flute and pointing at any water source blocks, it makes a fish pop out of the water, so that you could use it to get some grub. It would be very useful for cave exploration, since you could use it to get food when running on empty.

    Quote from 0_Zippy

The flute by itself sounds alright, but here's some criticsm for each enchantment:

Herder - It's not horrible, but this is just an upgrade from wheat. Animals can already be duplicated with ease if you get two of the same in a fenced area. I'm not hating on this enchantment, but I think an upgrade from wheat isn't that worth adding. That's just me though.

Glow - Nope, nope and nope. This will require dynamic lighting, which the game doesn't have and would lag the **** out of people if it was added. Many players with good PC's are getting battered by simple chunk updates, so imagine what accurate dynamic lighting would do.

Current - I can see how this would be useful, but I'm not seeing much of a connection between redstone mechanics and flutes.

Confuse - This one seems a bit overpowered. This could be used as a spammed get-out-of-fighting-free card. Most splash potions and bows used at the right distance can already pick off mobs with ease.

Shove - So this is like a concussion blast around the player? If that's the case, I like it.

    very good insight. thanks

posted a message on New Dungeon Loot; A Silver Flute! (hehe i rhymed)
hey guys i was building an adventure map when i came up with a really neat idea for new dungeon loot. my idea is to add silver flutes into the game, which can be enchanted for different purposes. essentially how flutes would work is that you could sometimes find the instruments in dungeon chests, however they would be uncraftable to add to their value and rarity, much like saddles. when selected, holding down the right-click button will play a little 8-bit tune, like in zelda or mario 3. although this would appear to be useless, enchanting them would be able to give them loads of different perks, however they would only be able to be enchanted once. some of these enchantments as listed below, have only a limited amount of range for their influence, increasing with every tier up.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Possible Enchantments:

Herder (Tiers 1-2)- Universally controls mobs, but only within the flute's boundaries of influence. This will allow the player to herd neutral mobs without the use of wheat or carrots. lol maybe even herd villagers :D

Glow (Tiers I-2)- Emits a small amount of light around the player while holding right-click, getting brighter with each tier up. This is not a permanent light source, but rather a tool to allow the player to see in dark caves. The catch is that you will constantly be switching back and forth between items, making it go dark again. This will be a very interesting tool for night-time exploration.

Current (Tier I)- when holding the right-click button and pointing at redstone, you can power that block and send out a current. although i can't think of too many reasons as to why this would be useful, I'm sure that there are some creative minds who will have some ideas (but i don't think this one is that great).

Confuse (Tiers 1-2)- Confuses most hostile mobs and "stuns" them for around 3 seconds, or until the player attacks them. This is mainly going to be used as a chance for the player to escape from enemies when his health is depleted, or just to get a cheap shot at enemies (although this would be more effective if there weren't other enemies trying to kill you outside your range of influence).

Shove (Tiers 1-2)- Essentially like knock back, except for the fact that it doesn't harm enemies, but rather pushes them away. Holding right-click and aiming at mobs under your flute's influence will knock them back. Can be used for escape or to push enemies off of cliffs.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

well, those are all of the ideas i have at the moment for the whistle. if anyone likes this or sees potential in it, please let me know or give insight as how these things would work. thx!
