That storage is amazing! I've been looking for something just like it ^^
However, there is a few things I think you need to change(nothing major mind you :tongue.gif:)
For the skinny trees you can remove the bit about dirt scaffolding(yay 1.7)
Also regarding the light through stairs, I thought notch fixed that bug(I don't know for sure but I heard it somewhere)
Otherwise excellent tutorials. Hope you make more!
Yea, he fixed that back in 1.5 but if you had this setup pre 1.5 it still works, its a shame. I guess you just need to have the setup with glass instead of stairs
I like it, I didn't think to put a door in, nice work. Also, did you think of useing an iron door so it will open ONLY when you reach the second floor?
well the door currently isnt even effected by the redstone, but i guess that could be fixed
I have figured out how to have a complete piston elevator that retracts all the way.
You get on the cobble with the door and are pushed up like so
then it is reset by the top set of pistons
I didn't try too hard to condense it so that may be able to be worked on, but as is it is completley concealable by putting up 2 walls. so what do you guys think?
I've tried doing something similar and it didnt work out for me. When I had each piston stacked, going up went well, but going down would cause a few to get stuck mid-air. The only time a sticky piston "sticks" is when it retracts, not retracted. You'd need a piston pushing down from up top which isnt ideal for an elevator.
You could get sticky pistons from 3 different angles that have a red, blue, or green wool attached to them, then push the appropriate color in front of the hole. Set up a bunch of them and you would have an RGB screen!!
So I am trying to build a piston elevator and have come up with a solution to my problem of how to retract all of the pistons. what I would do is send a pulse to each of the pistons that decreases as you go up the tower like so

Where:
is the extended piston arm
is the piston
and the number is how many ticks the pulse would be. My only problem is, how do I send a pulse that is any longer than the .9s pulse of a button?
The problem is how you place your doors, when notch fixed wolves pathfinding to walk through doors he messed something up. A door on the inside edge of a block is not safe b/c hostile mobs see it as an empty block and therfore ambush you when sleeping. Place the door on the outside edge of the enterence and you should be ok, also still keep it one block from thin walls

no they used to do that, what was changed was that redstone now turns to face the OUTPUT side of the repeater, it always turned to face the input
