    EDIT: Nevermind, I found the coords in the comments of your video. Here's for anyone else wondering about this;

    X:273
    Z:206

    Might be an idea to put this in the OP

    Meant to do that. Looks like those coords are different than mine, tho. Is that 1.8?

    Very nice! One thing has me wondering though. It's over when you starve. Does that mean when your foodbar is empty or when you die after it's empty? Because on normal it goes down to half a heart on which you can survive for quite a while if you're careful. Doesn't that make hard the only proper difficulty as it's the one you will actually die at? Just a few thoughts..

    It depends on your difficulty level. On HARD you will die of starvation but Normal (and lower) your health will drop to 1/2 of a heart. So it's up to you to either stay in the mine and try to collect more points with only 1/2 a heart!

    O hai thar paul.

    This looks really tough, a lot harder than 404 that's for sure. I'll give it a try, and if I survive I'll post my results of the points.

    Good luck on this as well fellow minecratians!

    *EDIT* Do we have to use the 1.9 prerelease like you did? Or will 1.8 work just the same?

    The seed works with both 1.8 and 1.9, though the waterfall isn't quite as easy to find the first time around.

    Will there be any reward for disarming/destroying Mob spawners? (Specifically cave spiders) If there is I think it should give a reward of something like 25 points as they are so hard to disarm considering the webbing surrounding them and the endless onslaught of cave spiders and the large area you need to light up to disarm them. Also, redstone dust is overly rewarding in my opinion as you get 4/5 units of dust for each ore block you mine. Thus means that one block of ore can give 80-100 points, well above the amount one block of Diamond ore give. And then if you consider the size RS veins can be. It can effectively give you several hundred points in no time flat. Now I realise that the mine complex is relatively close to the surface so RS will be very rare and thus the most common source of RS will be chests but I still feel that 20 points is an incredible amount for such an abundant material.

    Agreed about Redstone. I've dropped the points to match that of Lapis and raised Gold.

    As for spawners, I wanted to keep the scoring simple enough to count what's in your inventory at the surface. Didn't want to have to track anything on paper or in your head.

    Did you notice that you got the Full Stack hidden title? And I will be trying this as well.

    Heh, not sure what the significance of that title was but it's gone now... *shrugs*

    Anyway, how's everybody doing with the challenge? Don't forget to record it and submit a Video Response on my video and I'll approve it so we can all watch! :smile.gif:

    Question, is bringing mushrooms down, grow them using bonemeal, harvesting them by breaking the giant mushroom and making a mushroom stew breaking the rules?

    You may not make, grow, produce, catch, farm, craft your own food in the Mine. :smile.gif:

    Re: torches. I think it's okay to make them, knowing that you will lose 1 pt for each torch you craft. Might have to make Coal worth 2 pts though since there's a ton of it down there. Gotta make it a HARDER decision...

    This is a 404-style survival challenge that uses the seed "umissedclay". You start in a swamp with a waterfall leading to a massive abandoned mine. Your mission is to prepare by day and head down to the mine at nightfall, where you shall collect Rail, Ore, and Gems and then climb back to the surface before you die of starvation. Note: you only get one life and you may only eat what you bring down with you.... Good luck!

    Here's a video of a short test run to explain the rules and give you a little head-start (spoilers!)

    The Story So Far

    It’s your first day at the new job with the local mining company. Your friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s uncle’s boss’s dog had to pull a lot of strings to get this job for you. It’s only an entry-level position but with the poor economy you’re willing to do almost anything for a steady paycheck!

    After signing a bunch of paperwork (mostly liability waivers) at the office, you’ve been dropped off in a swamp with nothing but a memo with the following note:

    Dear [New Sucker’s Name Here],

    Welcome to UMC Mining Corporation! We hope to make your first day one you will remember forever....assuming you survive. LOL! Just kidding!

    As your first assignment, you will be deployed at Mine #404 which is sorta...abandoned. And (slightly) haunted. But despite that, it’s a fabulous opportunity for you to prove that you have what it takes to grow and prosper within UMC! To climb the corporate ladder, as it were! And we make it as simple as pie!

    In fact, all you have to do is collect resources, craft some tools and weapons, and then gather some food. No problem, right? Well, it gets even easier! Next, all you need to do is:

    - jump down into the abandoned mine
    - recover as many Rail pieces as you can
    - mine as much Ore and Gems as you can
    - avoid getting eaten
    - don’t starve to death
    - stay out of the lava
    - return to the surface with as much as you can carry!

    LOL! That’s it! EZ-PZ, right? AMIRIGHT?!

    Good luck,

    [Bored Middle Manager Name Here]

    P.S. You’ve been shafted!

    Challenge #1: Salvage

    Gather resources by day and at night fall, enter the mine and collect Rail, Ore and Gems and carry it back to the surface before you die of starvation. Stay in the mine and only eat the food you bring down with you!

    The Rules

    - Play on Normal or Hard (2x points) (1.5x bonus)
    - Jump into the waterfall at sundown; go to the very bottom, do not collect ore on the way down!
    - Do not leave the mines, until you’re ready to climb back to the surface and tally your score
    - No strip mining - only collect what you can see
    - Can only eat food that you bring down from the surface and find in Chests
    - Do not craft Rail pieces! You may only salvage Rail from the mine
    - Do not die! You get one life only and zero points if you die

    Points (may need tweaking, give me some feedback)

    Coal = 1
    Iron Ore = 2
    Lapis = 5
    Gold Ore = 10 20
    Redstone Dust = 20 5
    Diamond = 30
    Rail = 10 ( these are high value so as to keep players in the MINE and not wandering off into caves looking for ores)

    Tips

    - There is a Dungeon near the spawn which will give you a nice head-start...
    - Focus on collecting Food on the surface
    - Manage food & hunger bar wisely
    - make torches sparingly to save Coal; use Lava for light (it’s free!)
    - Buckets are extremely helpful for managing water and lava
    - use Lava for light to save on Coal
    - take torches from dead end shafts and block them off
    - use some type of "bread crumb" trail to find your way back

    Challenge #2: Rebuild

    Gather resources by day and at night fall, enter the mine and REBUILD the rail system. Stay and live in the mine as long as you can and repair as much railway before death. You can fish and farm.

    [to be completed]

    For the past summer, I've been at my dad's house, playing minecraft. I've gotten pretty far and stable and pretty soon, I'll be entering the aether. but That's not my point. My point is, how can I move my world and world data to my computer back at home from my dad's, I don't really want to start over and I like my current seed.. Help?

    I made a video tutorial for finding and manipulating world saves. It may help you:

    Essentially, you just need to grab the \saves folder and move that to the new PC. There may be other folders you're interested in like screenshots and texture packs so you may want to grab those as well but the principle is the same.
