Why do you want to join our server?: I was on the last one and would prefer to keep RP'ing with everyone.
How will you benefit our server?: I am a good RP'er and a decent MC architect.
Do you understand the rules?: Yes :smile.gif:
Roleplay Character Name: Pacreth Sirinth
Race: Dracan
Class: Templar
Worship (if any): All Gods
Character Appearance:
Pacreth is a Dracan of darker skin, emerald green in a light hue. His red eyes a stark contrast to his skin. He is thin and lithe, and rather tall. He is rather obvious as far as his reptilian appearance is concerned. He has a mysterious tattoo on his left cheek.
Character Background Story:
Pacreth was an Orphan. Raised in a distant Monastary that followed the teachings of all the gods. He was taught the way of a warrior priest, and in his teachings he took up a stance of intolerance. He finds non-believers, especially Mages who practice outside the pantheon to be especially disgusting. He is a Dracan of the Gods, feeling that his hand is guided by them only, as he seeks out the heretics and the witches that corrupt the world. He has been called a Witch Hunter, an Inquisitor, and even a Monster. However as a Dracan of few words, he neither confirms or denies these words, finding that the words of others are irrelevant and that the gods will pass judgement on his deeds.
I suppose I can't keep quiet about the Red Dragon for much longer... especially since people think we are a Cult...
We're not. We're a thieves guild.
We just have a religious figure to help establish a code of honor and morals to live by... much like the Dark Brotherhood in Elder Scrolls. Except we don't specialize in simply assassinations.
Some people complained about theivery in the game. A heated debate ensued and then an Admin stated "no stealing as of now."
This cannot be. This is a fantasy RP server with classes like rogues. It's a given that people can become bandits and scum of the underworld.
I got word that several people on the server were planning a secret thieves guild, however obviously this plan cannnot go through now, if stealing is not allowed.
There are plenty of ways to lock your things up, especially with the sign system.
And when players insult my RP ability, just because I defend stealing in game, quite frankly I am insulted, and I was planning on donating to the server. I understand the frustration these players have, as I've had several paintings stolen from my Inn. I haven't reported it, or complained.
I'd like to hear from the admins on this point, especially since I had RP plans involving shady areas of RP, because I am a Rogue! I own an Inn sure, but for hidden reasons!
We have good news! Longer server times, new plugins to help tell what's IC and OOC, however I believe IC chat needs to be restricted to a smaller block area. Hard to have a secret conversation hidden in a basement when everyone in world can hear it. This is minor stings however.
I'm beginning to love the economic system in play. The use of gold nuggets as currency helps control any sort of inflation or confusion. Also, prices are player set, which creates a very realistic post collapse monetary system. What one man charges for bread, another may charge less... or more! It encourages competition, as everyone strives to make a profit.
I am loving this server!
I do believe that we need our own forum however. There are plenty of free forum services out there, if only to help organizations communicate better. If the Admins need any help related to this, I have allot of forum experience and would be glad to help set one up.
As we near full functionality, I would only like to state this. Don't introduce a text based server money system. Keep the nugget system going. It's more interactive that way. I did hear that we might be getting chest stores. While this is useful to help people build and buy 24/7, I am enjoying the interaction of it all.
Stay the course, and find improvement where it is needed. Cheers!
I would have to agree, that from what I have been seeing, new players are practically impressed into the town guard in order to make money.
This. Can. Not. Continue.
In my first RP server, we had a similar honor system. In order to make money you had to use the specific skill you chose to make money. Eventually, everyone became miners or wood cutters. All other trades were irrelevant. It became a war of resources, and people stopped caring bout the city around us, and the RP and only cared for better tools and tree farms.
We have a system that can work, but impressment into one section of the city's workings, one that needs to only include a few players, will create a massive fighting force, with few civilians... and fighting AI can only go so far before you risk boredom, which leads to either griefing, or civil war. As fun as that sounds, civil wars caused by lack of choices in the community, turn into admin or mod wars, with widespread monster spamming, use of lava, and then the community dies because of a lack of freedom.
Currently, the users of the Inn compromise mostly of Town Guardsmen. I'm going to have to add a few more levels to make room for the demand for rentable rooms. Isaac and I are pulling in a decent profit. Role play is good, but, there's allot of down time and standing around. I read what's being said in the chat, and when new players show up they're greeted, and then pretty much corralled into the town guard with the promise of gold.
How are players who want to farm, mine, lumberjack, open a store, or take up banditry supposed to start off with out joining the guard? It's got plenty of people now. That's great! A town guard is important, but it shouldn't take on every person in need of cash. There needs to be options.
I'm considering funding people to farm and hunt for the Inn, heck even mine for us. We need coal, meat, wheat, eggs. A legitimate demand is coming by our establishment. I was falling short on orders because demand out numbers my supply.
I'm loving it honestly! But we need to focus on bettering the situation. If the Drunken Dragon continues to be a success, we'll have to expand, or move to a bigger location! That's awesome because I've never had a minecraft RP business be that successful. This is a good thing! This server is proving to be one of the best I've joined, but it isn't perfect. We need to iron things out, give people options when they start. Also, balance of the classes would help. Massive stat boosts to the respective classes would give more incentive to use that classes abilities... because as one player said yesterday, "I can mine and cut down trees outside the city all I want. What's stopping me?"
On the issue of server time, either be clear that it has limited hours, or leave it on longer if at all possible. We have an international player base. Limited hours, means that some people who get cleared will get little to No play time. And that is no fun.

So. Yesterday I log in and the town's been greifed.
Today I log in, and my Inn has been griefed. Bad.
REALLY BAD.
I don't know who keep's doing this, but it's getting old.
I will not donate to this sim if this continues, let alone continue to RP, when half my freaking building is blown to hell.
