Okay, so maybe you're here because of the title. In your mind you thought "Ohh, maybe some neat-o adventure map that's going to be epic and have lots of awesome stuff!" If you did, sorry, but that's not the case here. I made this thread because after making my last two threads, I've realized that my suggestions have already been created.
I can't figure out why, but recently, I've been daydreaming about my old days in Minecraft Alpha, a lot. I remember how figuring out everything was so exciting to me, from chopping down trees, (with my fists) to building my stone mansion. I remember thinking creepers had a sad look on their faces, and that they just needed some lovin'. I remember all of my little dirt huts in the mountains, and how they grew into villages, and then to cities. I remember the beautiful flow of landscape that was an emerald green color, and how I would create worlds and roam the lands for hours upon hours just to see what more the game had for me. I remember my first dungeon, before I even knew what they were, and thinking that it was some sort of living space for possibly another human (I played on peaceful :tongue.gif:.)
Anyways, this thread is going to be dedicated to sharing screenshots, stories, or anything you can think of that have to do with Minecraft Alpha. Anything that you may have is welcome, even if its just a few sentences of what you remember.
I don't understand why people can't see the differences in the new and old landscape. Do I just happen to have a sharper eye than most do? It's completely obvious that the terrain generator was modified during the switch from Alpha to Beta.
I miss my lime green leaves. D:
I still have pictures of my first ever world.
Of course that world got eaten up by the evil Browser Minecraft Monster... yup.
And that became my first major base of operations.
It feels good to know that I'm not the only one that misses the old minecraft as much as I do. Maybe we should dedicate this thread to people showing their screenshots or memories from minecraft Alpha.
I understand that for some minecraft has lost its luster because time has faded its shine, but for me, its because nothing seems to come together in one amazing flow as it used to. If you need reference to why I feel this way, please go watch some of the first episodes of the SeaNanners lets play. The terrain is just not as appealing to me as it used to be.
Simply put, I miss minecraft Alpha. I've tried using NostalgiaCraft, but that just doesn't give the same feel. The old terrain and the way that everything was a smooth flow of beautiful landscape was fascinating to me. I would open up new worlds everyday and roam the land for hours just to see what I could find. I'm starting to ramble, so lets get to the point.
I would like to know if anyone knows what caused the old world to look the way it did? The new landscape just doesn't bring the same level of excitement that minecraft used to. I don't know any Java, so I'm going to ask if the world generation had anything to do with certain algorithms in the games code? Also, would it be possible to extract those algorithms from an Alpha version of minecraft, and incorporate it into a mod?
I hope that this idea isn't thrown aside, as I have had many conversations about how others and myself miss the old landscape. If someone was to make a mod for this, or at least give it a little thought, I would be extremely grateful.
i was never a minecrafter back in alpha but i dont support this, progress my freind, the world would stand still without it.
stop living in the past, embrace the future!!
If you're saying that I'm living in the past, I'm not. I love the new world generation, I just miss the old. If I had the option to generate the old landscape, I would most definitely use it.
