    This.

Honestly no matter how long it takes, EVERY developer should take the time to test it and look for bugs.
The fact that it came with so many bugs shows that they don't care enough to test their update...BEFORE they release it.

Does anyone around here know what Beta means? I mean seriously, go look it up. Every time you say these kinds of things about a beta, it makes you look ignorant.

Its like if you bought a car and then the next day you start complaining that it has four wheels and a steering wheel.

What part of 1.8 is only half of the adventure update didn't you comprehend? Seriously, everyone's rushing them to get something out...and now here is a complaint that they released an update with a bunch of half-made features.

You act as if 1.8 is the last update they ever plan on doing...

And see that little word BETA in the opening screen? Do you really understand what that means?

posted a message on The New Cave Systems
I've been playing on a map with the seed "Jury Duty" (inspired by the summons lying on my desk). I found the entrance to a cave system that I've been following for the last two hours. The interesting thing is that I've actually traveled almost half way across the map completely underground! I've also found several natural entrances to the surface...and I'm not even finished exploring!

Back in 1.7 you would often have to randomly punch holes in walls or use F3 to see where the mobs were to figure out you would dig to continue onward.

I think what the new engine does is figure out where those thin parts between caves are for you and then sort of perforates the spaces in between so you can easily see where you will have to dig in order to continue. I've noticed there are a lot more cracks and crevices that can easily lead in up to 6 different directions from a single intersection. A lot of times these spaces will lead down.

I've also traveled across the same ravine in several different spots and heights as the caves zig-zag through them.

1.8 is awesome if you are a cave explorer....I haven't had this much fun since I first started playing Minecraft.

Love the lighting. It actually makes the caves a little less "cold" and makes the light actually feel like a safe spot from the mobs.

I also love the blue spiders. The way they drop down on you from above actually makes the game scary again (only because I've gotten so used to the existing mobs).

'Pics or didn't happen'? How are they going to get through a 5 block thick wall??? Are we arguing some kind of intent now?

Yeah, I agree. I am detecting a sort of mass hysteria here...

Id love to see some proof that Endermen are ruining your stuff. I haven't seen one screenshot in this thread....Even better would be a video of an enderman in action actually taking blocks out of your buildings...

You know guys I've been playing 1.8 for quite a few hours now and I don't think an enderman has moved anything, least not as far as I can see.

Same here...I built a small wall of cobblestone near where I saw Endermen spawning, and they were there a few nights later dancing around it...nothing was taken from my wall..

Perhaps "existing buildings" prior to 1.8 are seen as non-human-placed blocks? That would make sense because the game probably wasn't keeping track of what you placed before 1.8.

I'll have to do some more experimenting when I get home.

Well they do take damage from water, so I guess they want us all to build moats around our houses?

I'll I can say is welcome to Beta. You knew the game would change while you were playing it. You have no "Rights" when it comes to the design of this game. I certainly hope Notch doesnt sell out his vision to anyone.

I think having a creature that forces you to upkeep your structures while playing SURVIVAL is totally natural. You build in Minecraft, so having something "take apart" makes that a natural enemy and makes complete sense.

If you don't want to deal with them, then you should play on creative or use your brain and figure out how to endermen-proof your structures.

Maybe you should stop playing the Beta until the complete game comes out so you know exactly what to expect when you build your complicated structures.

It's hard to feel sorry for anyone who knew there would be risks while playing a game that they knew was still in development.

I told you guys this would happen.

Nobody listened to me! I told you it would amount to nothing more than a nuisance. I told you it would be simply irritating and serve no value to the gameplay. You all just called me a whiner and told me I didn't know how they would implement block destruction. Told me Notch wouldn't let this happen. You all had your full faith in Mojang on full display. Mojang would never let this happen, you said.

And yet I was exactly correct. Exactly correct.

A mob a nuisance?! Who would have thunk it?!

Seriously, maybe you need to work on a strategy to deal with the Endermen then come whining on the board that some mob is doing it's job of being a mob? Did you guys come running here the moment a skeleton shot you with an arrow?

    I'll give you a hint...water kills Endermen....

    Quote from VileAssassin

If you lose your abnormal supply of food and don't have immediate resources on hand, you can't just amass an abnormal supply of food again. If you are 2000 blocks away from where you left your main food supply and you reset your spawn with a bed you can't just regroup yourself and resupply. That is in my opinion what I dislike about the food bar. You need to carry lots of food on you and if you fall in lava your food goes with you.

With that, I wish there was a way to reset your spawn point within the game. I find it frustrating to the point where I let myself use MCEdit to place my spawn point next to a cave I'm about to explore.. I also do this when I find an area far away from my initial spawn point that I know I'm going to be at for a long period of time.

The way you are tied to your initial spawn point really makes exploration difficult. Who wants to travel an hour away from your start point just to end up back where you started because you were killed? It just makes me want to turn off the game and play something else for awhile.

Also, they gave us these insanely deep ravines, yet no way to build any sort of quick transportation to the bottom of them. I'd love to have a hook-and-rope and the ability to rappel to the bottom.
